Sometimes you expect something but you get another thing that’s completely different and it ends up being a lot better than the actual thing you were expecting. That is what happened when we were up north. We were about twenty minutes outside of minocqua driving to go on a fishing trip. I had always either taken the boat to some place on the lake or we had just gone fishing off the pier but had never driven so I assumed it would be a special place and would be “Lit”. Me and my dad were following our family friend who actually owned the cottage. Now at the time I was maybe eight so as we were walking I was asking all the typical questions “Are we there yet?” “No” my dad replied. We walked about another fifty yards and once again I said …show more content…
But when we got there I saw a sleek wooden structure with sturdy 12’’ by 12” wooden beams going across. Rushing water flowing through the old logging dam it was maybe twenty five feet across and apparently had been opened in the 1870s and was in service for about fifty years and was added to the national list of historic places. Now I had no idea that this was the spot that we were going to be fishing at I had assumed it was going to be some place on the shore. So we walked down the side of the dam to a little spot right at the end. We set everything up baited our lines and started casting. About 3 casts later I felt a tug and started slowly reeling in before I went full on ape mode and started reeling it in at five feet a second and fifteen seconds later got my first fish of the day a small two pound perch. I took the perch off the line posed for a picture and threw it back in the …show more content…
But when it was about three feet from the surface I could get a very blurry look at it and it looked more like a rock But when it was maybe a foot and a half away from the surface being eight I saw a face that would haunt me for the rest of my life. The face of the common american snapping turtle with its mouth open wide slowly rising to the surface I screamed to my dad. “Dad I think got a snapping turtle” what he said I don’t think I can print but it was something like
As I looked out the window of the restaurant, I could see the sun bouncing off the sparkling water below. Boats and other water craft scatter the water as well as people on water-skis and inner tubes. The picturesque view makes life seem so much better and just looking at the river makes a person calmer. The scene just described is the view from the window of a restaurant called Sophia in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the corresponding river is the mighty Mississippi. Although Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes, this scene could be found right here in the valley of Phoenix. The way this is possible is through the Rio Salado Project.
On the first casts with our modified lures, we got bites and set our hooks, but only to the dismaying result of slackened line. Upon retrieval, we fou...
I rushed out to the truck as the horn blared. I threw my things into the truck and we went off towards the woods. I had to talk to Kevin about where the deer come from when i am sitting in the stand. He told me everything I needed to know about the place less than 10 minutes in the hot and humid truck. Well let's go back to see what led to this.
Since this first encounter I have caught lots of these magnificent fish and as the years go by they seem to keep getting bigger and bigger. I have developed several baits and presentations that help me to catch these fish and I would like to share them with you.
...d my sister screaming my name. I got out of the golf-cart and thanked the man and went to our little black rental car, where my dad was getting my little brother into his car seat. When we got to the car, I explained to everyone what had happened, still out of breath, and my dad said, “Wait, you were lost?” He did not even notice I was gone.
When I was little, me and my family were sitting in the living room and watching T.V. and the next thing we hear is the doorbell. When my mom opened the door our family friend Mary, told my mom that she had dropped her keys in the dumpster and needed me and my
I knew it was a big fish. I gave it my all trying to get the bass to the boat. I finally got the beast on board, and he was massive. I got so excited I almost fell out of the boat myself. My father gaffed him, and I knew it was game over.
Many people see hunting and fishing as the slaughtering of innocent animals for no reason other than sport and fun. However, the truth is, hunting and fishing are beneficial to people, environments, and the economy. Hunting and fishing are beneficial to the economy because they cause a major economic impact. I remember one time I was in the Paper Moon card shop with my mom. We were just looking around the shop when a man came around the end of the wall of cards and started talking to me. At the time I honestly had no idea who the man was but it was obvious that he knew me. It was normal for me to be wearing some kind of camouflage, so he started asking me about hunting. By this time my mom had noticed him talking to me and had come to stand next to me and join in the conversation. The man asked me if I would like to go turkey hunting, I instantly said yes without even looking up to see what my mom thought about it. I remember my mom telling
It was three weeks before Christmas when my little sister Emily barged into my room. I was busy preparing gifts for the holidays and also was listening to music. I took an earbud out to listen to what she had to say, but I still was not facing her. She then asked if Santa was real. In my busy state of mind, I nonchalantly said yes and urged her out of my room so I could finish what I was doing. At the time, I did not think much about my response.
Life Is Better at the Lake When I was 8, my family took a trip to Alaska for two weeks to experience the breathtaking nature that Alaska has to offer--and I hated it! We went hiking through forests and by streams. My thoughts on this--boring!
Immediately, as my dad and I was walking to the deer stand, my thoughts were that this hunt already felt like any other night hunt I had ever been on. My dad and I together chose which stand we would hunt from the choices on the board. We arrived at the box stand, which was fifteen feet tall, then we climbed in and got comfortable. In the meantime, we were looking around to find any sign of a deer. Meanwhile, as we were sitting quietly in the stand, we suddenly heard something. We could tell that the noise was something running through the trees extremely fast! Suddenly, there she was, a doe, creeping out from the bushes. At that moment, I was only able to see her head. I was getting so nervous, and I didn 't know what to do; however, my dad told me to stay calm and breathe. As she was walking into the field, stopping along the way to eat, I prepared my gun in order to shoot. My dad told me to take the shot whenever I was ready, so within the next couple of seconds I pulled the trigger. BOOM! She’s down! I had shot her; however, I knew I hit her, but she ran
To get started, you need to put a thread on your hook through your bait at 2 points to ensure that it does not fall off. Place the hook at the head and through the thick part of the body. 3. Cast your line out: you have to consider the location and the weather conditions of the place before you cast out.

I didn’t know where my god sister or my mom was. I checked to see if I could stand in that particular spot it was deep so I swam to a rock and it literally hugged it for my life. People that were in the river looked at me like I was a crazy person. One person that was rafting said, “you know that you can just stand up.”
