One day, there was a girl named Kyla, who lived in Michigan, was walking to her band class. She has band class every monday, wednesday, and friday, and kyla adored it. She loved the sounds of all of the instruments together. When she arrived she saw a piece of paper on the door that said, “WANT A FREE SCHOLARSHIP TO COLLEGE FOR BAND? AUDITION FOR IT PLAYING THE SONG WYNDHAM MARCH AT YOUR LOCAL BAND CLASS AT 5:00 PM ON SATURDAY.” Kyla thought this was a perfect opportunity for her life. As she walked into the band room she started practicing until the band director started directing. A Girl named Skylar noticed was song she was playing, and she wasn’t pleased about it either.
“Are you trying to audition for the free scholarship too? Skylar being

confused. “I would like to.” Autumn said, confident about her skills.
“I’m going to help you by saying, you are not going to get a scholarship because I’m the best flute player. I’ve heard you play that ridiculous instrument and your bad at it. I may not know how to play, but you can’t play worth anything, so don’t waste your time. Plus, your clarinet sounds …show more content…
weird.” Skylar walked away, hoping she influenced Kyla’s thinking, she did. Kyla felt hurt because she thought her life depended on the scholarship, but Skylar said differently. Kyla took consideration of that. When Kyla got home she sat on her bed for hours, Didn’t eat, drink, or move. Kyla thought playing was a waste. The next day, Autumn just stayed in bed all day, and did nothing. Skylar’s words made Kyla feel terrible because she surrounded her life with music, but she was told she was bad at it. Before she knew it, it was friday, band class day. Kyla didn’t want to go so she layed in bed. in the bed “What in the world are you doing in your pajamas? You need to be leaving right about now if you want to make it to band on time!” Kyla’s mother said worried. “I don’t want to go to band class. I’m terrible at music.” Kyla said, not wanting to deal with her situation at the moment. “Kyla Marie Williams, I am paying one hundred dollars a month for those lessons, you should be blowing the heck out of your clarinet! You’re going up to that class and if I find out you were late, you are in big trouble.” Kyla’s mom said, feeling mad about her daughter’s sass. Kyla didn’t tell her mom about what Skylar said, because she didn’t want to yell anymore. Kyla slipped on an outfit, and ran to band class because she was scared of what her mother was capable of doing if she was late. Luckily, Kyla made it to her band class early, Unluckily, Skylar was there too. Kyla and Skylar made eye contact, and Skylar made an evil smile, planning what she was going to say to Kyla next. “I thought you were done with band class. You made a big mistake coming back. At least you’re here to listen to my mad flute skills. Toddles loser.” Skylar said, knowing she’s doing the wrong thing. Although, she feels doing the bad thing, feels so right. Kyla didn’t say anything because she felt it wouldn’t matter. She knows she can’t play, so what was the point. Her band instructor stood in front of the class and clapped her hands to get everyone’s attention. “Hello everyone. Now as you may know, I put together a local audition for a free scholarship for college. I feel all of you has what it takes. Therefore, today I am going to let you practice Wyndham March for your audition. I wish you the best of luck.” The band instructor spoke. Kyla sat there and did nothing, for twelve minutes. Skylar felt please that Kyla sat there. Skylar knew Kyla would be big competition, so she got into her head. Eventually, the band teacher noticed Kyla sitting there, so she wanted to have a few words with her. “Kyla, why are you just sitting there?” The band teacher said, confused. “I’m not going to audition because I can’t play.
I want to quit band, but I don’t think my mom would let me. Ever since Kyla said that I can’t play, I haven’t felt the same. I mean… Forget what i just said.” Kyla babbled. She hadn’t talked about her feelings in a long time, so she absentmindedly talk about them.
“Kyla, you are going to try out for that scholarship no matter what anyone says. Forget about Skylar. If you know what is best, you’ll do this.” the band teacher remarked.
Kyla considered what her teacher said, so she grabbed her clarinet and started practicing. Then, the day of the audition struck. Kyla had her head held high, and a clarinet in her hand. She believed in herself again and she loved that feeling. When she got to her band class, she walked in her room and Skylar seen Kyla, and her smile wiped of her face faster than the speed of light. She walked up to Kyla and gave her a dead stare.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? I WANTED THIS SCHOLARSHIP VERY BADLY BUT YOU JUST HAD TO RUIN MY CHANCES HUH? Skylar yelled, but then she realized, she told Kyla that she was afraid of her.
“It’s okay, let’s call a truce and become friends.” Kyla spoke.
I’d like that.” Skylar
said. Kyla ran to the stage because she was next. She was nervous, but then her name was called. When Kyla finished playing, she was asked what instrument she played. “The clarinet.” Kyla said, confidently. Ever since, Kyla went to college with a FREE scholarship and never looked back. Kyla and Skylar are best friends. The moral of the story is, don’t listen to what anyone says. Also, play the clarinet if you can!
Music served as an escape for Josh, because, as Hunt vividly describes, being a 15 year old, in the Great Depression was not an easy task. Josh, and his best friend Howie would produce beautiful music, temporarily losing themselves in the exquisite music they created. Josh and Howie were talented past their age, and they were given a role to play for the school assembly. Though their rehearsals were beneficial, they both dreaded the thought of returning home. Sadly, Stefan, Josh’s father did not feel the love he once felt toward music anymore, so he believed Josh should not spend time on luxuries such as music.

My older sister loved the marching band, so I always got dragged to their performances. I could not tell what was so appealing about it all; it consisted of walking on a field while playing instruments and flags being swung in the air. Participating in a marching band was never what I intended nor wanted to do. The idea bored me, but my mom insisted.
The unpolished floors and graffitied lockers with pictures of the Beatles glued to them indicated to me that no summer cleaning had been done at school, for what seemed like several years. As I walked, a neatly folded piece of paper, which I placed in my pocket earlier this morning, grazed my outer thigh was not letting me forget its purpose. My palms were sweaty and all I could think of was that on the first day of school, I had decided to tell my crush that I liked her. What a stupid decision. I decided to wash my hands and then put my plan into action. My walk across the hallway continued till I reached the guy’s bathrooms. Just as I was about to push the door, it opened and out ran a blonde and petite girl. My crush. Her face was surprised and her hazel eyes were
The song Ella chose for her solo was complex for her playing level at the time, but that didn't stop her from trying. Ella achieved this accomplishment by practicing after school with her band instructor, at home, and during class when allowed.
Kurt’s parents divorced when he was nine. He lived with his father after the divorce. On weekends, he visited his mother and sister. When his father remarried, Kurt held resentments with his stepmother Jenny and her two children. One of the bright spots of this difficult time was a present he received from his uncle, a guitar. What changed my life the most was probably band. I've been in band for about 3 or 4 years now,and I really enjoy it. Band has helped me out in a lot of ways and will continue helping me until I no longer need help. In band, originally I wanted to be a percussionists like my older brother but they told me I was quite good on trumpet, so naturally I chose trumpet. I still play trumpet along with horn,baritone,etc..
"I have a plan," he whispered. I held my groan. "Kayden will break up with Janine when he sees how she cares about the competition more than him!"
“Olivia, did you sign up for baseball?” asked Skyler, my stomach dropped I didn’t know what else to say but
The bright stadium lights blazed overhead. I stood at the sideline of the field, with my clarinet at my side completely frozen. Like clockwork I hear the loud quadruple broom of a base drum.Suddenly, I am alive.
Personal Narrative- Marching Band Competition This season was only the second year that I had been in marching band, even though we did do parades in middle school. The year before, I was selected to be drum major of the upcoming marching season. I was excited to meet the challenge of getting back to the state championships. It was also nerve-racking because I felt if we didn't make it to state, it would be my fault.
Ever since I was a small child, I have loved music. The strong, steady beats, the
Christiana had been pondering in her room thinking about ideas for the Lighthouse Talent Show when her phone started buzzing. A message from Paige was sent a couple of seconds ago.The text read, "Don't even sign up for the talent show because I am going to win." Christina dropped her phone and started panicking. Christina felt a drop of sweat run down her back. Christiana had done nothing to Paige except winning more competitions than her. Christina and Paige had not been friends since they have been in fourth grade. They both were outstanding in art and have been in many art shows. If either of them won the talent show they would become well kno...
“Well, I’m more sad than anything,” she replied. “I’m going to miss all of the freshman that we taught how to play.”
Nine years ago, when I was in kindergarten, I always looked up to my sister as a role model. If she liked a certain food, I would like it; if she did something, I would want to do it also. So, it only made sense that when she started to play piano, I would want to play too. For months, I was like a mosquito to my dad, asking him when I could start playing piano. Two years later, my wish came true. When my sister went off to college, my dad asked me, “Do you want to start playing piano?”
