Improving Race Relations Last summer, I wrote an essay for a Freshman Composition course on the subject of race relations. Called "A Single-Hued World: Laughable or Logical?" the paper explored the effects of a world where people could not visually distinguish race. The constantly reoccurring issue of race is one I'm familiar with. It annoys me sometimes. I'm biracial and I love it, but I detest standardized forms that demand I label myself as one race. I don't see my ethnicity as "check only one," and I don't feel that picking only one is an option. I do think about race, though, and I feel very strongly that race relations will naturally improve with time, as a two-stage process occurs. First, ethnic differences should continue to be celebrated, as they are currently in California. Cultural holidays, festivals, and trends will gain popularity across nationalities, and races historically degraded will gain the pride necessary to attain cultural confidence. Mexican, Black, Asian Pride will grow greatly, and people will appreciate contrasts between them. In time, equality of races will become an obvious state, and the importance of race will diminish. If people don't have to fight for their value as people, their insecurities will vanish. So in time, I believe racial differences will evolve into a triviality, something easily ignored. All I could possibly suggest to improve race relations is that this process be allowed to continue without interference. Multicultural exhibitions and displays that inform people about different ethnic customs and traits, as well as showing racial pride, should be encouraged. In time, they will no longer be necessary.
The future of multiracial groups, I predict will become more accepting and considering. For instance, the census allowing people to choose more than one racial categories has become a start. With more and more groups entering the U.S and the increasing interracial marriages it is only predicted that multiracial groups will soon become a much larger statistics. In the 2000 census 2.4% of the population classified with two or more races and this number is predicted to increase. ( ) How long before multiracial groups of all kinds will be full accepted into society is left unknown, however in today society race regardless if you are half white, black, Hispanic or Asian still matters in society.
I talked about a lot about race, ethnicity, and the different movies we watched in this paper. I believe that continuing on in this class will help myself get a better understanding of different races and cultures, which will make me more knowledgeable in the future and better me in the long run. I cannot wait to see what we are going to learn about in the weeks to come!
Speed of Dissolving Jelly Introduction The investigation I have to do is I have to investigate what affects the speed at which the jelly will dissolve in water. This investigation will be using the theories we have covered on the rates of reaction and the collison theory. I am going to try to get the jelly to dissolve quicker by increasing the surface area. I predit that when increasing the surface area of some jelly, I think each time I change the surface area then the time the jelly dissolves will be increased. I think this because each piece of the jelly I will be using will be small, so in that case there will be less to dissolve, as I think increasing the surface area in any investigation will speed up a reaction.
Race in America comes with a lot of struggle. It has been over fifty years since segregation ended, and race is still the cause of debate over police brutality, discrimination, and hate crimes. In the public eye, race relations are a more muted topic. Most people, white and black say that the time of racial cynicism is over. Race relations now are less defined by politics and more by experiences in schools, sports, popular culture and religion. In the arts, race is becoming more defined as the celebration of culture.
In this unit we have been examining and analyzing the essential question,“ What is race and does it matter?” from a historical viewpoint and current issues. I believe that the most crucial event that involved race is the African American experience in America. However, an issue where race has been less imperative is the Dakota Access Pipeline. The Hawaii and the Massie Affair was probably the most remarkable event that was discussed in class around race. I never knew that Hawaii has had such a sad history with America. Lastly, a racial issue which occurred in the past and is still relevant today is the Japanese Internment Camps.
There are only two ways people can be equal. One way is to be the same physically; the other is to be the same mentally. Considering the former first, are people the same physically? No. We have tall and short, thin and fat, young and old, White and Black, strong and weak, fast and slow, plus all sorts of mediums and in-betweens. No equality is to be seen among individuals. As to differences among races, there are many differences such as head shape and facial features, physical maturity at birth, brain formation and cranial capacity, visual and auditory acuity, body size and proportions, number of vertebrae, blood types, bone density, length of gestation period, number and distribution of sweat glands, rate of infant development of alpha brain waves, fingerprints, ability to digest milk, hair forms and distribution, odor, colorblindness, genetic diseases (such as sickle cell anemia and Tay Sachs), galvanic skin resistance, pigmentation of the skin and eyes, and susceptibility to infectious diseases. If there are this many physical differences, it would be silly to think that there would be no mental differences, and indeed we do find that they not only exist, but are of great significance.
In the past, races were identified by the imposition of discrete boundaries upon continuous and often discordant biological variation. The concept of race is therefore a historical construct and not one that provides either valid classification or an explanatory process. Popular everyday awareness of race is transmitted from generation to generation through cultural learning. Attributing race to an individual or a population amounts to applying a social and cultural label that lacks scientific consensus and supporting data. While anthropologists continue to study how and why humans vary biologically, it is apparent that human populations differ from one another much less than do populations in other species because we use our cultural, rather than our physical differences to aid us in adapting to various environments.
...ome color and an equally genuine valuation of people as people, regardless of color” (Rodriguez[2000]:3). If the dualistic look at race disappeared from society then the dominate group would find an alternative way to classify humans. The dominate group would do this because the disadvantages people in inferior positions have helps to increase or perpetuate the advantages that the dominate group has. The dominate group will do what-ever it takes to maintain their dominance. I believe there are steps that can be taken to help promote change in the dominate group. I believe if the dominate group would take a step back to look at the entire picture societal changes could possible. Also, recognition of white privilege would change the dynamics of society as a whole. The norms should be reevaluated to accept that there is no such thing as normal or ideal individual.

V is voltage in volts and I is current in amperes. L:- is the length
The concept of race is an ancient construction through which a single society models all of mankind around the ideal man. This idealism evolved from prejudice and ignorance of another culture and the inability to view another human as equal. The establishment of race and racism can be seen from as early as the Middle Ages through the present. The social construction of racism and the feeling of superiority to people of other ethnicities, have been distinguishably present in European societies as well as America throughout the last several centuries.
Since the beginning of time people have been defined by their race or their skin color. It 's evident that a place, or city where a person is raised may have an impact on that person 's behavior in what people do, the way people do, what people say or how people express themselves about certain things. Having a mixture of different races in our society is not a bad thing because it brings different cultures together. A mixture of cultures allows others to appreciate the differences of people. These differences may bring to light the good of some and the bad of others. The bad of others which can lead to something that needs to be taken away from society. The one key that needs to be taken away from society is racism, of any form, especially as it relates to color. To be racist means to believe that a particular race/culture is superior to another. Racism towards African Americans has caused emotional damages to citizens young or old. Racism can be destructive mentally knowing that a person is judging another person by the color of one 's skin, the
