I wish to pursue a career as a solicitor as it requires a certain skill set which I believe I possess. A career as a solicitor allows for constant intellectual challenges, a social environment which requires teamwork and a gregarious personality, and tangible responsibility in each step of one’s career.
A legal career will always be intellectually challenging, therefore stimulating. It is a career which demands ambition and a thrive for success, allowing an individual to continually develop. My father has a saying: “knowledge is the only thing you carry with you that never gets heavier”, this embodies the kind of career I wish to have. I am attracted to a career in law due to the variety of work a solicitor does and the opportunity this

The opportunity to experience more practice areas will create more well-rounded solicitors, whose knowledge stretches further than that of the traditional trainee. This allows trainees to gain experience in seats which they may not have previously considered, therefore allowing them to make a truly informed decision upon qualification. The “crash course” lets trainees enter a new seat, fully aware of what the work entails and the structure of the department, limiting loss of productive time. The ability to complete a client secondment is attractive as it allows trainees to see how the law can function outside of a purely legal firm, creating trainees who have greater commercial understanding, therefore being more able to help clients achieve their commercial goals.
DWF’s staggering growth over the previous decade has developed the firm’s key practice areas through several mergers and acquisitions, most recently the acquisition of claims managers Triton in January 2017, expanding its fast-growing global insurance practice, and merger with Heenan Paris, expanding further into Europe. The merger highlights DWF’s inclination to expand internationally, a very positive step in light of the Brexit referendum. DWF’s perseverance and “underdog” mentality has created a firm to be reckoned with, and its future growth is undeniable and one which I would like to

Paralegals have become an essential part of today's legal system, and as the profession becomes one of the leading and fastest growing occupations in the U.S. economy; these individuals perform delegated tasks under the supervision of attorneys. Education has played an important part on this matter; it has facilitated this development by allowing lawyers to use these skills professionals as agents to delegate specific tasks such as legal research, gathering of information and the drafting of specific legal documents under the supervision and final approval of their principals. This has been very significant because now; we can enjoy a speedy process in a cumbersome legal system. From en economic standpoint, it has also been beneficial by decreasing the substantial amount of the legal cost a firm could incur if only lawyers were allowed to perform this kind work.
The paralegal field is thought to be a high paced glorious career of working alongside an attorney and getting recognition for their work. In reality a paralegal job is nothing like Erin Brockovich (A movie where a paralegal was able to investigate and played an immense part in winning a large case) envisioned from the movie. Becoming a paralegal is appealing because it allows a quick entrance into a professional career field and offers a wide range of daily and career experiences. However, the work-life balance can be poor, the career path often stagnates without continuing education, and the pay is insufficient for the work load. Also, while there are a wide range of paralegal jobs there is also competition and an applicant must possess the ability to step right into the role with little or no training. While expecting much of the work to be comparable to administrative work and document reading.
As I became more involved with campus life, I couldn’t find a way to immerse myself in preparing for a career in law. While I knew why I wanted a law degree, I couldn’t conceptualize what I wanted to do with it. Prior to college life, my familiarity with the legal system was by way of internships with judges and lawyers. Clearly, that traditional route perked my interest but not my passion. Living with the athletes affirmed my interest in their culture. I began to immerse myself in subjects surro...
•Solicitors had to serve as an in-between between the barristers and their clients. So they were “in trade” which was less respectful to become solicitor one had to be an apprentice for 5 years to a practicing lawyer
Although the legal profession is a single discourse community, it is made up of many smaller discourse communities. This is so because while all lawyers share the same broad goals of the legal profession and have a general knowledge and expertise in all areas of the law, most lawyers after graduating from law school and passing the bar exam specialize in a particular area of law. This specialization requires the lawyer to go beyond the broad concepts of law as a whole and to become knowledgeable and proficient in the sometimes minute details of a more specific area of law. Even then, some lawyers will go even further to focus on one aspect or another of that particular area of law. This results in most lawyers being members of many even smal...
My major is Paralegal Studies and I expect to graduate with an Associates of Arts degree in December of this year. Many years ago, as an investigator for both a private company and a county agency, I was introduced to the legal field. Recently, I was awarded the opportunity to attend college, so I decided I wanted to reenter the legal profession as a paralegal. The paralegal profession appeals to me, because I enjoy the processes of developing a case, as well as its legal aspects. A paralegal is involved in a case from the beginning to the end; from the initial client interview to assisting the attorney during the client’s trial or the settlement process. My goal is to become a paralegal for a solo practitioner or a small firm in my local area who represent clients in different areas of the law.
Moot courts also teach professionalism and ethics to students of law, to apply law to fact, to structure and rank a legal argument by strength, and not to assert losing propositions. They provide law students opportunities to improve their legal writing, legal research, and oral advocacy in a competitive environment that prepares students for a competitive world. The moot court experience is perhaps the most important activity in law school. It is the activity that fully develops the skill every lawyer must possess: advocacy. Regardless of practice area, all lawyers must communicate in a way that advances their client’s interests, whether in a courtroom or boardroom. Most important, moot court builds character. Every student competitor “will be a better lawyer, and a better person, because of the moot court experience.”
A predominant one are “legal advice clinics” set up by law schools which present an excellent opportunity to gain experience working on cases whilst also developing their key legal skills, supervised by an experienced practitioner. One example is the Northumbria Student Law Office, a successful clinical legal education scheme by Northumbria University [8], where students take part in a legal advice and representation scheme as part of academic development, covering a wide range of legal areas such as housing, family and employment [9]. Others include “Streetlaw”, where links are built with schools or community groups to assist students in researching certain areas of law, then prepare and deliver interactive workshops on them; volunteering with legal organisations (eg. Citizens Advice Bureau) to give advice or assist them in their services; work on cases involving potential miscarriages of justice (“Innocence Project”); and enhance advocacy skills through the Free Representation Unit (FRI), among others [10].
that I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field but I was not sure
I am very interested in law career. My career goal is to be a legal analyst, and I decided to start my carwith a paralegal degree. I am going to finish my two years paralegal degree at Rowan College at Burlington County in 2016. I am looking forward learning everything I can about being a paralegal. Later, I am thinking to further my education in law. Like most
The second I stepped onto the campus, I knew that it was where I wanted to be and I felt like I was at home. The atmosphere felt friendly and family-like, the campus and the surrounding area was beautiful, academics are amazing, and the athletics and their facilities are great. The most appealing of these factors to me was the outstanding criminal justice program. This really caught my eye because my long-term goal after college is to work in the criminal justice field as a criminal investigator or a crime scene investigator. Not only does UNF have a great criminal justice program with outstanding professors that were, at one point, in the criminal justice field, but they also have great ties with the FBI and Jacksonville Sheriffs Office,
College isn't just a great opportunity, but can also be life changing. Attending Harvard University will be one of the greatest opportunity for me, due to their vast activities and outstanding educational programs.
The test. The test, www.yourfreecareertest.com, that decided our life, what career we fit into. After thinking hard about the questions and answering in full thought, I was matched with law enforcement for 83%. I was elated when I found out that the category contains a criminal lawyer, which is the profession I always wanted to be apart of. As it matches my personality like pieces of a puzzle. I love to organize, be in control, to present my opinions that feel all the way to my heart, and figure problems out while challenging myself with anything thrown at me. As a lawyer, I would be cheerful to go to an office and sit down to help someone out. Also the pay, with a starting salary of $45,00 and an average salary of $114,300 and more.
Career as a lawyer is very respectful as they serve to maintain the law and order. They are responsible for providing justice to the innocent and punishment to the offenders. Career as Lawyer on one side is challenging and risky but on the other side, it is prestigious and honorable as well.
