The whole family loaded into our dark blue minivan with sliding doors that were decorated in scratches and dents inflicted at the hands of reckless children. The interior was a faded grey with scratchy seats and multiple dark stains covering the upholstery. My dad was the driver and my mom occupied the passenger's seat, then my two brothers were seated in the middle row with me being the unlucky child who sat without a draft of air in the third row. Everyone in the car quickly fell asleep during the long journey to Pittsburgh including myself. Quite a ways into our journey we reached maximum traffic in the city so we ended up being stopped at the bottom of a downhill slope. My dad remembers saying comments to my mom when he looked in the rearview …show more content…
I remember barely being able to mutter a word let alone speak confidently when the rescue officers asked about my personal condition. My parents could safely exit the vehicle, while my brothers and I could not because we were trapped within the walls of gloomy blue mini van where the doors were smashed together and the only way of saving us was too pry them apart. The fireman dressed in their vibrant red gear used their tools to shimmy apart the doors that screamed in agony from the tension.. I remember barely being able to speak being in shock from the events that were unfolding around me to speak confidently when the rescue officers spoke to me through my shattered window. After we were all able to get out of the battered vehicle I overheard the young driver of the semi truck hysterically sobbing and apologizing to my parents. My moms insight enlightened me of not only the original driver of the truck who was repeatedly apologizing, as well as a second driver from the same company in a truck that was following behind. It was heartbreaking to see a grown man in such despair over the unfortunate events that
Getting a police ride along isn’t the easiest form of interview to get. It took me a two week process so I can set up a date to do a ride along. The process includes a background check and the reason why I wanted to do a ride along. The officer gave a strict dress code that I had to follow for that day. Police departments have been stricter on who can do a ride along because there have been incidents were citizens attack the officers while doing the ride along. That is the reason why it takes a while until they approve that you can get one.
I've been four wheeling since I was about three. Id say its pretty fun when you're not busy crashing. My favorite thing about four wheeling is having the wind blow in my face, it makes me feel free in a way. When i'm with my family four wheeling nothing can stop us so you better watch out. My best experience while riding a four wheeler was when I was about nine my grandpa and my four year old sister were together on one four wheeler and I was on my own we were riding down the road when my grandpa said “ Aryona do you want to go down there?” i was a little scared at first, but he told me it would be okay, so i said “yes.” Once we got down there I was happy I decided to go because It was awesome! One of my favorite things about
When I was fourteen I began the search for a vehicle. I want to find an older truck or muscle car to fix up and have done by the time I got my driver’s license. So every day I would search the web for what would be the best looking, easiest to work on, and cheapest vehicle I could find. I fell in love with the look of the square body Chevy short bed trucks and it was all the things I was looking for; the hunt was on for the one for me.
Completing the State Highway Patrol internship was an amazing experience. My very first Day being an intern, my Mentor Trooper Bachelor Took me to the Training academy there I met many different people I was able to talk to a state recruiter. Also I was able to see the cadets and see a little bit of their training.
After taking a couple steps forward. We heard people calling for help so we ran towards the sound and was looking through the Rubble we seen a lady's hand and we aid it will be okay and we were able to pull her out and bring her back to safety to an ambulance by the time we came back most of the dust and smoke was gone. We went out searching again and we never heard anyone or anything, But what we did find was a pole a flag pole we went back to the truck and took that flag and put it on the pole and raised it.That was a long, hard, and said day what I just experienced will become
It was the last Saturday in December of 1997. My brother, sister, and I were chasing after each other throughout the house. As we were running, our parents told us to come and sit down in the living room. They had to tell us something. So, we all went down stairs wondering what was going on. Once we all got down stairs, the three of us got onto the couch. Then, my mom said, “ Well…”
Disappointment, disbelief and fear filled my mind as I lye on my side, sandwiched between the cold, soft dirt and the hot, slick metal of the car. The weight of the car pressed down on the lower half of my body with monster force. It did not hurt, my body was numb. All I could feel was the car hood's mass stamping my body father and farther into the ground. My lungs felt pinched shut and air would neither enter nor escape them. My mind was buzzing. What had just happened? In the distance, on that cursed road, I saw cars driving by completely unaware of what happened, how I felt. I tried to yell but my voice was unheard. All I could do was wait. Wait for someone to help me or wait to die.
I always hear those old sayings. In the course of one day I can hear them about everything from retraining old dogs to getting up early. I think they make sense and I even ponder on some of them, but I never really thought one might mean as much to me, or become as realistic as it has become in my life. The clichés about telling those you love, how you feel, before it is too late and the ones about living every day like it is your last have an all new meaning to me.
My mother was allowing me to drive the car back into the driveway, I believe I was 16 or 17. I always was very adamant about driving moreover whenI finally got behind the wheel of a car it was completely different then what I expected. I assumed that driving a vehicle was the same as driving in one of those driving games at the arcade.. So the first thing that I did was accelerate very hard on the gas pedal and almost ran into our garage, I was so terrified I just jumped out of the car, my mother had to jump
It was Friday morning and I was in the 5th grade at the time. My father decided to pull both me and my brother out of school. My mother wasn’t home. She had already gone up to the hospital with my grandmother.
It had been a long warm day at the park, me and my dad had been throwing the football around and I had been running around the playscape for hours. Both of us were exhausted after some time. It was getting late and it was time for us to head back to his house. As soon as I got into the car, my dad reminded me to buckle in my seatbelt, because I was a rebellious little 7 year old I thought “I don't need to put on my seatbelt, i'll be fine without one.”. I was around a lot of people who didn't put on their seatbelt at the time.
The car was slipping all over the road and i remember crying the whole car ride. Thankfully nothing happened but it scared me enough to not like driving in bad weather. My dad could tell I was nervous and he kept on telling me to stay calm because everything would be okay, he knew what he was doing. My dad had never gotten in a car accident before and he wasn’t planning on it now. But that wasn’t the problem. I could see many other drivers swerving in and out of the lines and that was making me very nervous. My dad told me that we were almost at the gym which gave me a huge sense of relief. Just when I started to relax, the stoplight in front of us had just changed from green to yellow so my dad started to break. He had stopped the car in time and were at a complete stop, thank god I had thought in my head. My dad told me to hold onto the car and just as he said that, I heard a loud screaching noise coming from behind us. The car behind us didnt stop in time and hit the back of our car very hard. The noise of the crash is a noise that I will never be able to
Oh my God! TJ!“ It was just my mom.She was crying and calling my name again and again.I was so embarrassed and disappointed of my self.I had let her down. After, two of the EMT guys put us on an ambulance. Finally,we made our way to the hospital. My friend john and me were sent in palo alto medical center. It took us about fifteen minute to get there. My friend john was alright. He had a couple of stitches in his head and his arm. He got relieved after a couple of tests but, I was severely injured. I was lying on a hospital bed and thinking what I would have done in the past. Cause this terrible accident happened to me. I was sent to el camino hospital, where I went to the operation theater for my hipbones surgery. The doctor told me after surgery that my hipbones was fractured the reason they had to put a plate in hipbones to stay together.Although, my left arm was also fractured the reason I could not feel my arm. After surgery, they took me to the other room and gave me a couple of injections. Momentarily, I went to sleep. I woke up in the next day and thinking hopefully it was just a dream, but it’s not. I opened my eyes and saw a couple of relative looking me like a stranger. My dad came over my bed and gave me a hug and I literally started crying after thinking about the accident. I could not believe after a massive car accident I was still alive. Doctors kept in hospital couple of
Years ago I had the most terrifying, shocking day of my life. I had between seven or eight years when this happened. The day before the accident, all my family was at my grandfather’s house. We all were eating the food my mother and my aunts brought, telling jokes at the dinner table. Meanwhile, I was playing with my cousins in the backyard. Everyone was enjoying the family meeting. As the time passed by and everyone was about to go home, my mother suggested the idea that we all should go at my grandparent’s ranch next day, since everyone was in town we all could have the chance to go. Everyone liked the idea. It was the perfect time to go because it was a weekend. As they all agreed to go, they begun to decide who bring what to the gathering. Who would have thought that thanks to that suggestion, I would lead me to the hospital the day of the reunion.
My mom and I arrived at my great aunt’s house in Ely, Nevada at around dinnertime. We both decided it was time to get some sleep due to our long drive. My mom had asked me to wake her up if my dad did not call or arrive by midnight. She was obviously very tired from driving and I had slept most of the way anyways. I could tell my mom was very worried about my dad because he was traveling on his Harley Davidson, and the roads were dangerous. My innocent ten-year-old mind did not think anything bad could happen,
