Do you play soccer? Have you ever been in a game a you won from a last minute goal? Well I have been let me tell you about it. During soccer season we were going to a soccer tournament in Clare. There were 3 teams in the tournament, Mt Pleasant, Clare, and us Alpena. We were on the bus driving there we were getting ready to play. We were talking about all the strategies and what we were going to do to win. The bus stopped and we were there.
We all get off and were about to play are 1st game against Gaylord. The starting line ups were Noha and Colby at center backs Jared and Joe at wing backs. At center defence middle is Kayden and Musa at the wings were Owen and Arar. And the last 3 position were Caleb and at striker was me Deven and we can't forget Haydan in Goal. The game started about 20 minutes in Gaylord scored 1-0. The half was winding down and Gaylord scored again 2-0. The whistle blew half time. We wanted revenge! Whistle blows 2nd half is under way boom! Rightaway Musa zings one in the corner and scores 2-1. A few minutes later Joe

crosses it and the ball bounces and i volley it over the goalkeeper and score! 2-2. And about 10 minutes left in the half Musa scores again 3-2 Alpena. The whistle blows we win! 2nd game were playing Clare, “This is going to be easy Kaydan says.” “Yea it is.” I say with confidence.
We killed Clare 7-0 was a easy game. Next game is vs Mt Pleasant, we were ready for this game. Whistle blows the game is under way. All of us were running around like cheetahs on a open field. We score the Musa scores the first goal about 20 minutes in. They score about 10 minutes later 1-1. The half is winding down Joe shots and the goalie blocks it and I clean it up 2-1.The whistle blows half time. We want to win my coach says, “We're going to go defence.” We all agree. The whistle blows 2nd half starts. We’re taking a lot of shots on net were missing. They finally score from a chip over Haydan 2-2. One minute left we have the ball Joe shots from beyond the 18 yard line. The goalie makes an amazing save but Owen quick as lightning comes in and shots and scores!!!! Were all excited and run to Owen and celebrate. 30
seconds Left and they kick off, Caleb slide tackles a guy and he gets up and pushes Caleb to the ground, the Referee shows a red card to the opponent and he is off. The whistle blows we win! Were chanting, “Owen MVP MVP MVP” we won the tournament and it was a fun ride home. This game sticks in my head because it was such a big game and it was really fun to win it. This is really important to me because i got to play with all my friends and we won the tournament.
What seemed to be a very long and difficult game, the Worland High School Varsity Girls come through to winning the game against Powell. Still remaining number one in the 3A division in the state of Wyoming, Worland has put up a fight regarding their loss against Lander last year at state soccer in Jackson, Wyoming. Worland’s very first game of the season this year in 2014 was against Jackson. The defending state champions were demolished by the Warriors, and Jackson also did not score a single goal. Majority of the girls soccer players this year are very young, only three seniors are on the team this year. As observed on April 4, 2014, the Warriors went against a stronger team in their division, Powell. Not only does Powell have bigger, stronger, and faster girls, but they also started worrying the Warrior crowd after they had put two shots into the goal of the goal keeper. With the score 2-2 it became more and more intense in the crowd. Only about 10 minutes were left in the game, and like last year at state Worland did not want to go into overtime because if there was no goal after overtime match it would lead into penalty kicks. As horrifying as it is to have that kind of pressure within about 6 minutes left of the game a goal was finally made for the Warriors! The score was now 3-2, and Powell was not happy. As the head coach from Powell was jumping up and down saying that they have this game motivated his girls. However, Worland put up a fight and as close as it was Worland finishes off the game with a win. An evaluation of the game was indeed a struggle to write on; however, Anna Hepp will give me information from her perspective of the game along with the another senior, Yesie Herrera.
As the week went by it was finally coming to an end. It was time to sit down and see who was going to start and see what lines we were in. Another shock, the JV coach said the attack lines first and then said the midfield line. “Luke La Grassa starting midfielder and face off midfielder”. I could believe it once again.
After that we went over to our bench the bench we sat o was green and white these benches change color according to your team's color. There are 9 people on the field at once from each team 4 attack 4 defence and 3 middie we played U of M it wa fun we destroyed them 91 0 biggest game differential ever! The game is different but is still a lot the same like i told you we were dressed now and are allowed to hit people like in boys lacrosse we don't wear pads though just goggles are gloves are required now. No extending elbows or limbs still. I sent a girl to the hospital i broke her arm. I scored 15 goals and had an awesome time. The goal turns into a star after you score and a rainbow appears. After the game we signed papers and digraphs. After the game me and Emma were tired so we went back to the dorm, and ordered a pizza. The pizza man came and he wore this weird thing it was an apron but it had squirty bottles to clean it off. The pizza guy's truck was the one with the oven and cooler it looks awesome emma said that they have them everywhere. We ordered dr. pepper that came in a 4 liter it was cool we drank it all and then we went to bed watching a movie( it was a double throwback for back to the future). As i fell into a deep sleep i saw the monkey
The server on the other team once again threw the ball into the air. This time, my teammate sprawled for the ball, and made a perfect pass to me, allowing me to set the ball and have my co-captain smash it to the ground. I looked once again at the faces of my teammates. Things were different now. I knew at once that they knew what I knew. We were the winners of that game. We remembered that at that point, and were assured of it when the referee blew the final whistle after I served an ace on game point.
This past weekend, I had the marvelous chance to participate in the Division 4 Soccer Provincials. My team was by far not the strongest team at the tournament, however our determination to win the gold and come back with a banner was stronger than all of the other teams combined. We may not have had the best individual players, however we did not back down even until the final minute of every game. Our chemistry as a team was amazing, and it has taught me that you do not need perfect team members to achieve greatness - only drive.
The next face Dedham won it. The kid shot the ball immediately, but I saved it. The one thing my coach always said to me was, “to use the element of surprise; they would never expect you to leave the net.
One incident that happened to me that change how I thought about sports was when I first started playing soccer. It all started when my mom said that I should join a sport to get me more active. It took me awhile to choose soccer at first because there were so many sports to choose from. I told my mom I wanted to play soccer. She signed me up to play for a non competitive league (GYSA) so I can learn the basics of the sport. She also told me to play I would have to maintain good grades. After hearing that i always tried my best in soccer and school.
My team, Brookfield, encountered many hard times to win this spot in the finals, and we ended up losing in overtime. We were down two to zero in the first half. Everyone was working vigorously. At half time, my coach gave us an encouraging pep talk. It hyped us up and gave us hope. Then in the second half, my team scored two goals to tie the score up. This made the game go into overtime. During the overtime period, which was two five minute halves, Waukesha scored another two goals. At the end of regulation, my team was devastated by the loss. We were defeated four to two. On the other hand though, we were delighted we got this far and took second. Weather
To make matters worse the team we were going up against were the defending region champs and a currently undefeated team. They were the Dent Blue devils and they were stacked with the meanest, biggest players of the whole district. We already figured we were going to lose so the record they had didn’t intimidate us considering everybody we played was meaner and bigger than us anyway. Our game plan was simple, Run the ball up the middle, Hope to get at least a yard and try our best not too fumble the ball. Scoring wasn’t even in our minds because the Blue devils haven’t given up a single point all season. They were ferocious on defense and was by the far the most difficult opponent we would face all season. As we prepared for our future death, all 17 of us, somebody spoke up after coach got finished talking after our last practice. “As long as we play our hardest we can win” said the person. All of us turned our heads at Karl as he began too unstrap his pads. Everybody agreed with him sarcastically but you could tell Karl was as serious as can
One occurrence was during a high school playoff game during my freshman year. My team was favored to win the championship but we had some difficulty. We were in a tied game against a team many expected us to beat and our opponent scored with fifty seconds left to pull ahead of us. Our coach called a timeout and rallied us together. Instead of yelling at us he told us “see you in overtime.” The next shift my line goes out and scores with fifteen seconds left to tie the game. Time expired and we head to overtime. After about five minutes of overtime Ipass to my winger and he scored off the pass to win the game. It was one of the most satisfying wins I have been apart of as we weren’t playing our best and how close we came to losing. That win fueled us the rest of the playoffs and we ended up winning the championship with that momentum.
Our team was excited to be in the finals. Luke and Pat talked before the game and decided they will try to work together. They are put on the same line as one of the team’s best defenseman, which is me. Luke and Pat start passing to each other more, and even though they didn’t score any goals by the end of the second period, they had a lot of chances. The Blazers had only scored one goal. In the third period, I got the puck and carried it over the red line and got it into scoring position for Luke. I made a great pass to him and he scored a goal to tie the game.
We made two groups, one group was wearing green T-shirt and another group was wearing blue T-shirt. Each team had eight players. I was in a Lepcha team and our T-shirt color was blue. We started to play soccer, the ball came to my feet but I accidentally passed the ball to the opposite opponent. The Lepcha yelled at me and said if u do not know how to play soccer then why you are here. I know that I do not know how to play soccer well because it was my first time and it was not even a real game. I got so mad and angry but still I stay claim and did not say anything to
Everyone knew that this game was going to be impossible to win, so we all sort of shrugged it off. The last practice before this game consisted of reminiscing more than drills. Even our coach knew we were going to get killed, but for some reason everyone had in the back of their minds ‘what if…’
Thirty-two teams, sixty-four games, eight groups of four, years of qualifying and one world champion. The World Cup is an international soccer tournament that takes place in the summer every four years. It is more than just a game to all who participate, and their fans as well “Husbands have mortgaged their homes to attend it [the World Cup] Careers are defined by it, and athletes have been murdered for making mistakes“, (Trecker 16). It is more than just the world’s biggest sporting event, it’s the biggest event period. (Trecker 6)
After playing lacrosse for three years I thought that I was getting fairly decent however I had never scored a goal. All of my freshman year I took good aggressive shots and most of them were on goal. In practice I would put many of my shots behind the goalie but it seemed like the goalies in the games were brick walls. I can remember it like it was yesterday I picked up the ball verses Chantilly at the restraining line and carried it to the right corner of the box. The right side is my best side for taking shots; I have a fairly strong right hand with my stick. I took my man one on one, I tried to go outside and he was there so I went on the inside of the defender. He wasn’t ready and I had an open shot about fifteen feet out from the goal, I took it. In an instant the Chantilly goalie was on his knees with his stick in the dust. I felt like the world was paused. Then very slowly I saw him get up and pass the ball to his teammate who took off for our side. He had saved the last shot I would take for that season.
