Living in the sunny state of California all my life. There was quite a bit I was oblivious to. I took my first trip upstate with a group of my friends. We went to a camp site. It was called Camp Smokey. It was so cold I had never experienced anything like that in my life. But yet a beautiful sight to see in its own right. The way the mountains stood so tall all around me were captivating. Standing and looking yonder to at Gods beautiful creation overwhelmed me. There was also something that scared me. At night I would hear a slight howl all through the camp sight. The first night I heard it I tried to avoid it and because none of my friends were alarm I just played it off like it was nothing to me as well but I was afraid and wanted to know what was lurking out there making such a sound. …show more content…
One night I decided to be brave and find out what was out there. Maybe someone is trying to tell us something and if I get close enough I would be able to hear what it is saying. I went to bed in my clothes and around 2 am the person howling was in rare form. I stepped out of the cabin to only hear the howl in harmony like it wasn’t alone. I yelled out “Who is out there?” The sound got louder…OMG it is freezing out here. I felt something slap the back of my coat. I let out a loud scream; and when I turned around a bundle of leaves had slapped up against my coat. I yell out again “Come Out, Come Out. I want to help you.” There was no response. Then all of a sudden I hear someone call my name
It was like a sort of excitement when someone sees something amazing for the first time. Not only is it a beautiful landscape, but it also brings me back to a type of nostalgia. When I saw it, it brought back memories of when I was a child growing up in Valley Springs. It’s a town in the foothills of Calaveras County where I grew up. In the wet season, the grass would be lush and green with the dew of the falling rain.
In the summer of 2005, my mother and I took a 2-week trip to Mexico to visit my grandparents. I was about 8 years old. My grandparents own a big ranch located in the middle of an enormous hill. We crossed many dwindling, bumpy, and steep roads to get to the medium-sized mud house they live in. This area in the middle of Mexico wasn’t a very modernized area. There were no new cars, no computers, no satellite television, and nothing entertaining. I wasn’t too excited about sleeping in a mud house with almost no TV reception. But, their mud house did have an amazing view. Every morning on that trip, I woke up, sprinted to the edge of the dirt road, and looked at an incredible view. I could see an infinite number of hills and cliffs peeking out
We scrambled up the trench ladder and began to run as fast as we could
A shrill cry echoed in the mist. I ducked, looking for a sign of movement. The heavy fog and cold storm provided nothing but a blanket, smothering all sight and creating a humid atmosphere. The freezing air continued to whip at my face, relentless and powerful. Our boat, stuck in the boggy water. Again a cry called. Somewhere out there was someone, or something.
The path in front of me was longer than I expected. Strolling by myself in the open space where any one could see me. All these thoughts of what could harm me crossed my mind. Some how I was at peace, it maybe could be the scenery that posses beauty that surrounds me. My mother told me informed me on the path and she described it perfectly, and now I get to see it for myself.
We hiked till five and camped beside a tranquil spring in a small, grassy clearing in the trees just off the trail. Because it was our first day back on the trail, we were flush for food, including perishables like cheese and bread that had to be eaten before they went off or were shaken to bits in our packs, so we rather gorged ourselves, then sat around smoking and chatting idly until persistent and numerous midgelike creatures (no-see-ums, as they are universally known along the trail) drove us into our tents. It was perfect sleeping weather, cool enough to need a bag but warm enough that you could sleep in your underwear, and I was looking forward to a long night's snooze--indeed was enjoying a long night's snooze--when, at some indeterminate dark hour, there was a sound nearby that made my eyes
There were weathering gray rocks lying about and chalky stalagmites lay together in clumps. Everything seemed to have a blue and a green tint to them, which you found stunning. Most importantly, you were lying on a fluffy bed of golden flowers.
I am staring through a jungle of metal bars, looking for my future target. I am as ready as a soldier for battle, I spot a man using the machine I had been waiting for, I am up next. I see him grind out his last set and I immediately grab a paper towel and clean up my machine. I walk up as the sweaty man with terrible b.o stands up and just walks away, disgusting. It made me want to run to my car and drive home. As I look over at the man who gunked up the machine in distaste and I see him sit down at another, and make sure to steer clear of whatever he uses the rest of my workout. In slow motion I grab a paper towel and put some cleaner on it and make sure to clean the machine spotless before laying a finger on it. From that day on, I will
captive by a sheath of frost, as were the glacial branches that scraped at my windows, begging to get in. It is indeed the coldest year I can remember, with winds like barbs that caught and pulled at my skin. People ceaselessly searched for warmth, but my family found that this year, the warmth was searching for us.
As one would expect, the scenery was the first thing that caught my attention. The weather was so beautiful yet deceiving. The sun was shining brightly, but it seemed like it was doing nothin...
The air was warm, not even needing a jacket to go out, both of us in jeans and tee shirts. We looked at the clouds as we drove, the sun coming through them in just the perfect way that made sun rays shine onto the fields and trees that we passed, making them look like heaven. I had never
Although both the mountains and the lake itself brought me so much peace and tranquility, the scent of the Aspen and Pine trees still lingers in my nose. There is nothing better than smelling something and immediately being taken back to a memory. How the mountains look, or how the waters move, or even how the different trees let off unique scents. He leaves me in awe daily, and seeing Him through nature reminds me of how powerful He is. The amazing God who created everything knows my name, and wants a personal relationship with me.
Well, old houses do creak I guess, but the sounds I heard that night were definitely loud bangs on my window, which couldn't possibly have been caused by tree branches, since there weren't any tree branches that even touched the house anywhere near the room I slept in. I definitely got the independence that I wanted this past summer, but I wasn't quite as ready for it as I thought I was. I'll probably never have an explanation for what I heard that night, and honestly, I don't think I really want one. I still don't like the idea of ghosts or souls of people who have died coming back to earth, but I do think that some things just can't be explained by simple human logic. I'll never forget that night up at my grandma's when I was so scared that I couldn't move a muscle in my body.
Remembering my position, I slowly walk to where I heard the source of the voice, the kitchen.”Hello,” I croak.I peek my head into the kitchen door after getting no response. There it ,no,there he was. A man about 6’1’’ tall, dressed in all black except for a pure white mask strapped lazily around his face. His age, I can’t tell.
Have you ever been forced to do something with your friend that you KNOW is gonna be bad? That’s how it was for me on my camping trip with my uncle and his friends and my friend Zeek. We have been planning this trip for quite some time and this time we brought buggies so we could ride in the dunes now I have practice driven these and they’re pretty fast I don’t remember exactly how fast but the vehicle had good power. Add that with a risk taker friend and you go at dangerous and scary levels of speed though I was very cautious so maybe I was just being scared at the same time.
