Behind the Wheel My family has always enjoyed driving for fun. We would always go on drives around the state or to other states. Although, we always wanted something other than a car or bike to drive. One day, we saw our neighbors across the street selling a four-wheeler. My dad seemed interested in buying it. About a month later we bought the four-wheeler and promised our neighbor we would pay him monthly until the four-wheeler was payed completely. We were excited to have something new to drive. A little while after we bought the four-wheeler we took our first ride on it. We went down to the Minnesota River and back home. One day, while driving in the country my dad said, “You should drive this sometime.” After he said that I got extremely nervous. I thought that I would wreck the four-wheeler or hurt myself. My dad saw that I was nervous so he said, “Don’t worry, i’ll teach you how to drive the four-wheeler.” A few days …show more content…
later we went down to a pit where there was a construction project but it was not finished. He drove around a bit to look for obstacles. He asked us if we wanted to drive. I said, “I don’t think i’m ready yet.” but my brother wanted to drive. He drove around the pit avoiding glass and dirt mounds. Afterwards he said to me, “That was easy.” I still was afraid for quite a bit of time.
I still practiced by watching my dad. I did feel more confident. I still did thought for the worst. One day, we were driving when my dad asked me, “Do you want to drive?”, I did feel more confident. So, I accepted his offer. He told me how to start it. After that I started to move slowly. My dad said I could go faster by a small bit. I started to increase in speed. I drove down to the pit and went through the course. I dodged shards of glass, animals, rocks, and trees. I made it through without hitting anything. I was amazed of what I just did. My dad also looked at me with an amazed expression. I started to drive a lot more. I no longer felt worried about doing something wrong. I felt like I had done something amazing. After a while the town had known about us driving on the main roads and called for a meeting. All of my family attended. They came to a conclusion that we could not drive the four-wheeler on the main roads. We lived on a busy road so we could no longer ride the four-wheeler in
town. Since my family could no longer use the four-wheeler we decided to sell it to get some money. Our uncle bought it from us and we gave the four-wheeler to them. Since my uncle lives on a farm we could ride the four-wheeler when we go up there. I get to ride the four-wheeler with my cousins. So, I don’t mind that we can’t use the four-wheeler that much anymore and everyone in my family agrees with me.
One day a few kids were walking down the road so I thought it would be cool if I told him to jump into a river, I even knew that he could swim, so he did. When he started to drown I realized that he could die so I jumped in and got him out. He forgot that I told him to do it and was thanking me for saving him.
I have been wanting to drive because it will be one of the most useful life skills after I graduate from high school. To me, being able to drive means to have a convenient, interesting life, and being a helpful person. My life will be more convenient when I can drive by myself. I am jealous of the day students who can drive off campus to have food when they do not have classes. For those of us who can not drive, the only chance to get out of the school is to up for the school shuttles that can only go certain destinations.
I wasn?t nervous to drive because my dad let me drive sometimes to my grandpa?s house If I took the back roads, so I had a little experience. When I took behind the wheel it was a little different than driving on the back roads, but I did ok. When I finished behind the wheel I signed up for a driving test. This was the part I had been waiting for, I wanted to pass so I could drive alone. The day of the test was very stressful, I had to use my grandma?s car because mine had tinted windows. I had never driven my grandma?s car, and I could not do corner backing with it.
One day my momma took me and my sister to her God Mother’s house, meanwhile me and Makenzie was playing a game on my phone. Makenzie and I got to Kizzy’s God Mother’s house. Kizzy and I got out of the car and said, “Bye Momma”. Our momma, “Bye guys, see you later”. Kizzy and I went in her God Mom’s house. One hour later Kizzy asked, “Jeffery, do you want to go outside?” I said, “Sure”. When Kizzy and I got outside, Kizzy asked “Jeffery can you teach me how to ride a bike?” I said no problem.
I tried to zone out the negative stories I heard by telling myself, "I can do this. I just drove through town on a practice run and I did perfectly fine."
When i was four years old we went to Wal-Mart. I found a watch i asked my dad if i could have it. He said no so i took it. When we got home I pulled it out he saw it and I got grounded from everything but my bed. And the next day he took me back so i could
It was a saturday and I woke up and I wanted to go sledding. I asked my brother if he would take me he said. He said ‘’ok.’’ I put on my coat, snow pants, gloves and my hat. I grabbed my sled and I told my dad I was going sledding. Me and my brother started walking Until we arrived at the hill.
I had practice year round sometimes everyday, and no matter how much complaining I did, I was at every practice everyday. My father wanted me to be the best at everything I did; therefore I spent many nights practicing with him. When I was that young, I enjoyed every second of practice with my father. Being the best was so deeply instilled in me that anytime I failed, it was a catastrophe for me. For example, in baseball I would probably only strike out three to four times a season, which is great looking back now, but when I did strike out I became irate.
It was Monday night and I was driving home from University of Carlow. It was raining very quiet and calm at the time I started to pull away. Once I reached Route 51, by the Salvation Army, the rain started coming down. I could hear the rain fall outside on the car, it’s loud, heavy drops smacking the hood and top of car. It was like someone was taking a hammer and pounding away at my car.
Then one day after he got tired, he told me to just drive him home. so that was my first time on the highway at 14 and in a full sized truck. That was pretty scary and pretty dangerous. When I ended up getting my first car, he taught me everything about it. He would get out there and roll around on the ground, showing me things about it.
I was only ten years old when I began learning how to ride a bike which wasn’t easy for me but got the hang of like any other person would. My family members were annoyed of me constantly asking for someone to teach me. I wanted my own bike just like my sisters and be able to ride along with them and not bother with their rude remarks of not being able to ride a bike. So my father decided to help me learn in front of my building in the summer until I was able to ride on my own. My father's reason for teaching was for us to spend more quality time together since he was always working. It took me three weeks to learn due to the small accident I had which help me learn a valuable lesson.
...of my life, such as family, school, and work. Suddenly I was easily succeeding in all these areas, where as I had always struggled with them in the past. My health was better than it had ever been before which kept me from having to make visits to see the doctor, let alone the emergency room. I also had money saved up that would have previously been spent on fast food, cigarettes, and drinks at the bar.
was all about. I was finally determined to try it. My dad was proud of me and
Finally it passed through the other side followed by an eerie screeching sound. The dreadful sound was emanating from the dry rotted tires that were rubbing against the rails. After the car emerged from the exit of the car wash, it was then wiped dry by the co-workers of the car wash. Watching the employee’s wipe the car I could hear the boy my age say, “I feel bad for who ever owns that car”. The car was fully washed and ready to go as one of the staff members approached the benched and asked which one of us the owner of the vehicle. Again the muttered another comment, “sure isn’t mine”. The comment from the boy made me hesitant, but for a moment I realized the only person I was fooling was myself. So I picked myself up and as I was about to leave, the man in his mid forties stated to me “it could have been worse, my first car barely ran”. With that comment I was a little more encouraged to get into the car and leave with some dignity.
Driving is a necessity in life because a vehicle transports someone from one place to another and is faster than walking. I’ve always enjoyed car rides especially road trips, but being a passenger for 14 years I lost interest in cars. Therefore, I decided to become the driver. I taught myself since my mother never agreed upon teaching me, for she was afraid to drive with me. I never really had someone to teach me but myself, so I
