One of my after school activities are basketball. Basketball is my favorite after school activity. It is my favorite activity after school because it’s fun to be able to compete, and practice with kids that are my age. It is fun to play and practice because I love to play basketball. I also enjoy basketball after school because it is something to do after school instead of going home and doing homework and doing whatever. Basketball is everyday except Wednesday during the week with all of the eighth grade girls who go out for basketball from Hampton and Cal. I have fun with theses girls because they are fun to be around and they can make someone's day from being upset to being really happy. Basketball is not the only sports I like to play. I am going out for track for eighth grade. I am going out for track for eighth grade because I have always liked to run and because my friends want me to. I want to do long distance because i can run for a long time if I pace myself and I don’t like to run short distance. I also want to go out for track because it seems fun and my friends will even make it more fun. I also want to go out for track because my …show more content…
I also enjoy to rollerblade with my cousin and play basketball when I’m not grounded or have plans. I also like to just hangout with my cousin Jealousy and talk to her. Jealousy and I also love to ride the four wheeler after it rains and go mudding. We also like to take her dad's truck. I love to hangout with Jealousy on weekends and I love to play with her little sister. Jealousy and I also like to take Catalina on four wheeler rides when it is warm enough for her to go outside. I also on the weekends like to help Jealousy watch Catalina sometimes because my uncle has to work on cars in the shop, and because one year olds can be a handful at times. I also just like to spend time with Catalina because she is a really goofy
I’ve always been the type of person that truly enjoys athletics and have participated in nearly all sports offered to me. I started playing sports in elementary with club softball and basketball. As I entered my middle and high school years I was able to add the school sanctioned sports to my list of activities. This afforded me the opportunity of competing in volleyball, basketball, golf, track and softball. The camaraderie and life lessons of sports seemed invaluable to me.
When I reached seventh grade, basketball played a different role in my life. I played on my junior high basketball team and absolutely loved it! From November to March, my life revolved around an orange ball. From seventh grade to eleventh grade, this was winter for me. I am a true student of the game, learning and improving constantly.
I enjoy watching competitive games, I enjoy watching some of the players that I hooped with, like John Wall, other than that I like watching as many games as I can.
Losing a game is not that bad but losing an entire season is disastrous. It takes a toll on one’s confidence and makes one lose their interest and ability in that certain sport. And that is exactly what happened to me during my eighth grade basketball season.
I remember the first time I played basketball when I was eleven years old. Seventh grade was an epiphany to me, I started trying different instruments, joined different clubs, and learned a bunch of other things about myself in the process. Uneducated, I didn’t know a single thing about what I was doing and ended up running around the court equivalent to a lost puppy. But as the season went on, I ended up having a few of the utmost exciting times of my life, and ended up trying out for the team again in eighth grade. Losing just about every game didn’t matter to us, us girls just kept laughing, smiling, and playing the whole time, despite the score on the board.
I remember my junior year of basketball as if it were yesterday. To start, my coach Mr. Neal was pushing me harder than I have ever been pushed by any coach I have ever had. He was taking time to mold me into the leader of the team. See Mr. Neal was about 5’6, African American, very easy to relate to as well as he was very respected he just had this sort of presence about him as if he meant business and he was willing to do whatever was necessary to achieve his goals. It was his first year as a coach for our basketball program and coming off a very successful last year winning the championship he had a lot to live up to as a first year head coach for the team, as well as the team being mainly made of juniors myself included with also only 3
It happened so suddenly and it was so unexpected. When I hurt my knee it was just a refresher letting me know that this stuff can happen to anyone including me at any time. Being injured makes you realize how special your time in high school sports really is cause you know what its like without it.
Being part of the basketball clique in high school helped me learn the intrapersonal and social communication skills I use today. As a child playing basketball was my favorite activity or hobby. It's also the way I met a lot of my good friends that I have now. All my close friends I have met. I have met them through playing basketball.. Whether they were on my team, the opposing team or just fans in the crowd who admired my play. Not only has basketball helped me gain friends, but basketball also taught me a lot about life. There are many aspects of life that coincide with basketball. For instance basketball is a team game and an individual game. Like in life you have to work together with other people. The communication skills I learned from basketball helped me communicate with friends, girlfriends, parents and bosses at work.
Ever since I was a little boy, about eight years old or so, I had an extreme passion for the sport of basketball. On weekends, I would wake up in the morning, eat a bowl of frosted flakes or cheerios, put on basketball shorts and then go in my driveway to shoot around. I would be out there for hours just shooting around or playing with some random kids that I would occasionally see walking around my neighborhood. This was satisfaction to me, but even better was playing on multiple public teams and not just playing in my driveway every day. In elementary school, I played in a recreational league, just like almost every other kid who tries out basketball when they were younger. This was fun and all but it was nothing too serious. There were never any practices, it was just one or two unorganized games per week. I never took
Basketball kept me and my friends connected we watch it and play it whenever we get the opportunity.
One of the best things we do together is adventure. We'll get our black and camo face paint put on all the camo clothes on that we can find, with our boots and go into the wilderness. We roll around like spies, get my grandpas paint balls guns, and play some pretty scary games at night. The paintball field is right by my house so we'll go on their coarse all ninja like, and pretend we're having a war it may seem kind of stupid, but its one of my favorite things to do, it's a adrenaline rush for sure. The woods is kind of an escape, we tend to put our self in our own little world and that’s what I love about the woods.
A typical day for me is to go the lake and ride my Jet Ski. I do things when the weather is nice or hot. My family and I spend the day together, and sometimes Hector comes along, and sometimes my cousins Jesus, Jose, Jecsan. We all have fun together. Right now I am studing news subjects like, Science, Algebra, Social Studies.
If you were to ask my friends what I love to do, my guess is that the majority of them would come up with this reply, "He loves to play sports". Sports are a big part of my life, and if I had to choose my favorite sport to play it would have to be basketball. I couldn't imagine going a week without being able to touch a basketball, and I thought I would never have to. But on one summer afternoon, that all changed when I broke my leg. It left me on crutches for two months, and not being able to play basketball all that summer. At first I thought it wouldn't be so bad, getting all the attention and sympathy from everyone. However, after one game I soon realized that I would do just about anything to get rid of those horrible crutches and get back on the court.
Basketball is one of the interesting sports I have always wanted to engage myself even as a little child. It was a dream come true when I started playing basketball in my high school. Moreover, I was very good in it, and I became the team leader. Of course, I enjoyed every bite of the time I spent playing basketball. My participation in basketball, has had numerous effects on my life, and these are physical, personal and social.
One of my passions is basketball. Basketball is my main passion because when I grow up my goal is to become a professional WNBA player. My other passion is reading. I love reading, anytime I have a chance I always read my favorite genre of books to read is Non-Fictional.
