Thus far in my schooling, I have been to many schools that have all taught me in various ways. At public school, my grades were not the best and now that I am a private schooler, I am learning faster and more efficiently while earning straight A's. School is really enjoyable now that the students are friendlier, teachers are more caring, and I am taught in such a way that best suits my learning abilities.
Although Mount Rainier has really changed some of my bad habits regarding school, there is still one that might never change; I do not like to read! If I had the option of reading or not, my answer would most likely be not. If I had to choose my all-time favorite book it would be And Then There Were None. This book has a lot of mystery and
The book I chose to read is called, Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder by: Richard Louv. I chose this book for a few different reasons. One reason I chose this book was because I’ m highly interested in the whole concept of the book and feel very passionate about its reasoning. I also thought it would be a great read to guide me towards a topic for my main project at the end of the Lemelson program. On the plus side, I “read” this book through audible, which enabled me to listed to the book on my drive to and from work everyday. I commonly do this because of my forty-five minute commute from Truckee to Spanish Springs.
When one thinks back to all the school years between kindergarten and high school, they will not remember the name of every teacher they have ever had without hard thought. There are always going to be the teachers that stood out from all the rest for one reason; they connected with their students. When asked about school, students will not reply with an undoubted love for all the time spent going through it. It is simply something we must all go through to get on with our lives and be an active member of society. I get the strangest looks from my peers when I say I like school. Now obviously, I have not loved every second spent behind a desk or all the time required to be spent with every teacher, but overall I do enjoy school because of the
School allows many opportunities to grow as a person, and show your personality. Within class I am always an active participant, I always add my input in discussion, and work to answers questions. I have always maintained good grades I was placed in advanced courses beginning in fourth grade and within all 3 years of highschool I have earned a weighted
Every person throughout their lifetimes has wanted to go back and change the outcome of the past. People have had deaths of loved ones, tragic events, or made the wrong choice in a relationship that was a big mistake. But the idea of the changing your timeline would be considered the “Butterfly Effect”. Scientifically it would be explained by changing the past that can alter the present. The worst thing to happen to any child is a parent’s decline to alcoholism.
Public schools are still the most popular way to educate a child. Depending on where a person lives and is zone for education a child could end up in a public school that is outstanding or a school that is failing in their academics. Being in a public school offers so much more than just academics. Going to a public school a
The silence of the air remaining motionless. The typewriter's keys periodically snap the silence. Each click was like a chisel striking and penetrating my heart. What remained was that of a mutilated sculpture, ready to collapse. This story wasn't meant to be read; only to help find myself in the events that had happened or what was about to. And if you are reading this. Then I guess I was unsuccessful in my attempts at finding such a
The big day, it was finally here. Two weeks of training on my own and putting in extra effort to sharpen my soccer skills, all for a two-hour evaluation. Sure I’ve been to soccer tryouts before, but I’ve never been to one where I’m so nervous that I could pass out. After a little pep talk from my dad, I was ready to go. I pulled my tryout jersey over my head and set off for the deep green pitch. As I approached the other girls that were already passing, juggling, or just talking with their friends, every single one of them turned their head to stare. Of course, there were other girls that didn’t belong to Sc Waukesha and were trying out, but nobody even glanced at them. Everyone's attention was on me, and I didn’t know why.
They have the opportunity to make friends of the same age and friends that are significantly older or younger than them. Homeschooling does not put children at a disadvantage with their school and typically score higher in tests than their peers from public schools. Furthermore, homeschooling better prepares children for college because it teaches them to work independently and be self-motivated. Homeschooling also has more flexible schedule which allows families to add in breaks were need and take vacation when it is less crowded and cheaper, but the one reason children love being homeschool is that they are allowed to wear the pajamas all day. All these examples show that homeschooling is a better option for children than the public school
Determined to win I said, “Come on guys we need to play defence and protect me because if we lose this game we lose the tournament and we need to win this tournament.”
Public schools have pros and cons just like any other form of education. One of the pros is that it is less expensive. Textbooks are generally provided free of charge and if something does require money, the child may have the opportunity to rent the item or have the fee waived due to financial restrictions. Another pro is that a child, especially during the high school years, can have a choice in what courses they take throughout the years of their educational career. The students can also drop out of the majority of the classes that are not mandatory and replace them with another class that they prefer or would do better in. Private schools are another option and the learning is more effective when compared to public schools, but not every family can afford a private school. Homeschooling is less expensive, in most cases, than private
Whether someone prefers a public school or a private school, it all depends on the person. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to appreciate all that public schools have to offer because they get their vision blurred by all the benefits of private schools. The only thing holding them back may be cost. If these people would just take some time to find that there are just as many wonderful things about the schools our governments provide, they may feel more confident in their choice. Those never exposed to anything but private education miss out on the diversity among students, extra vocational and extracurricular classes, and may even continue to not understand all that public schools have to offer.
Well, before me of course there were my father and my mother. My mother was born in Dominican Republic but grew up in New York. My mom had 4 brothers, which now are my uncles. There is Tio (uncle in Spanish) Rafi, Tio Chris, Tio Jay and Tio Franklin. My mom said that she actually enjoyed having all brothers. She said it was to play with them and have fun. Most of them have at least 1-4 children, which are my cousins. I have a very close relationship with my cousins.
The teachers of the school were very supportive, I loved them all. Being at school is very good in terms of dealing with different people. We were exposed very early to this world; where there are different attitudes and beliefs. I think having teachers with totally different minds has a role in our social intelligence development. I learned how to deal with people even if their beliefs, thoughts and styles do not meet mine.
Up until the fifth grade, I attended private school with about 15-20 students in my class; from the fifth grade on, I attended public school with about 30-35 students in each of my classes. This high number of students in my public school classrooms had a negative effect on my learning experience. One of the negative effects of having so many students was that my teachers were unable to know me as an individual.... ... middle of paper ... ...
It was dark that night, I was nervous that this dreadful day was going to get worse. Sunday, October 23, 1998 I wanted to start writing this to tell about the weird things i’m starting to see in this new neighborhood. Gradually I keep seeing pots and pans on the sink suddenly move to the floor. I would ask my sister but she is out with my mom and dad getting the Halloween costumes. When they got home I didn’t tell them what I saw because i've seen Halloween movies and I have to have dissimulation otherwise the ghost will come out and get me first. October 24, 1998 I think I got a little nervous yesterday with the whole ghost thing. 12:32pm, Went to eat lunch with the family today and I go to get my coat. I heard the words furious and madness,
