For my first prompt, I chose the third one(Describe a moment in school last year when you felt really engaged. Why do you think that moment was such a positive one for you?). Last year, my language arts class was online so therefore, I never really felt very engaged in that classwork. So, if I had to pick one moment I felt very engaged in school, I would choose a project that i did in social studies last year. In that particular class, I had 3 of my closest friends. My teacher assigned us a project over the Civil War, and there were multiple ways to complete it. The one that my friends and I chose meant that we had to make a video telling all about it. I felt very engaged which was very abnormal because I do not normally like video projects. Anyways, the self-learning and doing the project with my friends made me feel really engaged with what I was learning. It was a positive moment for me because I realized that even though I usually learn best a certain way, other ways of learning can actually help me too and bring in a …show more content…
If I could build a school, it would look similar to SHS and most likely have a similar layout. The way of the school would be different though, I would definitely change the lunchroom in the fact that the way to get your school lunch would be different and the lunchroom would be bigger and more open. The biggest thing I would change is that I would include more reading in classrooms and more library usage. Outside of being forced to go to the library, I rarely saw students in the library reading. I would increase student interest and have more times available to visit it. At the high school, there is much more reading allowed and more frequent usage of the library. I would also have silent reading in the classes so kids could read even more. Besides that, I would make minor changes because I love Smithville and the whole school
Even though these schools are all different, they have some similarities such as the teachers. All of the teachers that we meet are encouraging the students anyway they can, in addition they are always striving to get the kids to believe in themselves and pushing them towards

One moment was of me receiving a prompt for an essay in middle school that had asked to write a journal of how you envisioned life as someone, who took part in the Boston Tea Party. That was when my imagination took flight and made writing that paper a fun thing rather than a chore to do. A week or two later I went to class finding a letter from the school congratulating me on my creativity. Another moment was practically my senior year English class, because the teacher had taught the concept of English in a different way. My teacher had put emphasis in the theatrical aspect of English. In my experience our school has many issues, for example lunch is a huge problem. However there are more flaws like student teacher relationships in school and the schools structure. Our school needs to change for the better.
There wouldn’t actually have to be any specific groupings within the class, because every class would only consist of children that are all at the same level, so there would be no seperation, and the kids would not feel bad about being slower, and being separated from the “smart kids.” I would do my very best to make absolutely sure that the entire facility would be one-hundred percent clean, I think that a clean school would make it easier for students to learn, instead of trying to learn in filth. I would try to raise money with events and fundraisers to keep the school clean and a positive learning environment. As far as materials and equipment go, I would use the best materials and the highest grade equipment so that my students could use them to get the best education possible. I believe that all of these attributes would make the perfect school, every single student would be able to get a proper amount of attention and they would be able to use modern technology and have people that actually care about the students and their education, and what they are going to do with their future.
I got to experience a lot of different age groups, and the different exceptionalities that students had by bouncing back and forth from the different wings in the school. When observing the children in 3rd grade special education, I noticed that they use a lot more assistive technology to help improve the students they use the for the kindergarten through 2nd graders.
... Class size reduction is another area that would enable our school system to move forward. In a smaller size classroom, educational quality will be improved. Teachers have greater amount of time to build a solid ground for the students to flourish. Though changes need to take place in our current school system, I am thankful to be in a country where my children have the right to be educated.
Future: What changes do you realistically expect to see implemented at this school in the next several years?
When moving through the hallways, the teachers, aides and staff were all very friendly and helpful, making sure that I not only belonged to be there, but that I was able to find my way to the appropriate locations. Art lined the halls, and the sounds from the classrooms indicated that the children were exicited and engaged in their activies. I would feel most comfortable having children attend this school. It was a warm, safe and nurturing environment, where the individual was celebrated, and the community created.
People tend to take their legs for granted. While the other girls in my school were fawning over the football players’ muscles, or their perfect hair, I was jealous of their legs. Their functional legs. It's pretty crazy to think of a 15-year-old learning how to walk, but that’s exactly where I was. In a gym full of colorful mats and loud children, all I could focus on was the heavy Polish accent of my physical therapist urging me to trust myself. I took three whole steps. I started to get over confident, thinking that I could walk way more than someone who had a three-year gap in their walking practice should. I took four more steps. I looked up at my therapist for reassurance and a slight nod of her head encouraged me to keep going. Left.

For every species there comes a time where we feel like we need interaction with each other, isolation is not something that we as mammals have programed in our brains. We desire love, acceptance and interaction; the kind that brings us all together. We form groups depending on who we are, some can be like humans coming together to bring happiness to each other (Slide 13) or some can be just simply a large group like how penguins flock together (Slide 12) either way we tend to migrate toward each other.
Imagine living life worry free without a care in the world. Even after becoming the “Adult”, you have always desired to be, you were still worry free. Parenting was just parenting, Bills were just bills, and problems were just problems. You never realized how good you had it, or more so the reason for having it.
Out of all the quarters this school year, I feel like this quarter has made me progress the most, because I put a lot of effort into reading books and enjoying them, there are many . As expected, I got better and faster at reading but an unexpected change was that I write better compared to last year. One of my major losses was that I was becoming uninterested and bored from too much reading, which explains why my total pages read decreased compared to the other quarters.
For me, sense of place and people without people were the most challenging assignments this semester, but it also allowed me to me creative. Aside from the photo story, this assignment allowed me to be original and open-minded. Remaining within the guidelines, I had the freedom to create completely my own vision. Although I listened and observed during the sense of place lecture, I was still unsure what to do. Afterwards, I reviewed the slides but I still did not have an idea. Simultaneously working on the photo story and work for other classes, I did not think about the sense of place or people without people assignment until the first critique.
