I have been told throughout my life that I am abundantly prone to clumsiness. Some stories in my life are perfect evidence for this accusation, such as the time on New Years I fell off a jet ski. The Jet Ski story is now a popular anecdote in my family. Although it resulted in a minor ankle sprain the story seems to be as equally amusing if I had lost a foot. The saying “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” should also apply to Mexico, for my sake. I had never been on a jet ski as of New Years day but the thought of riding the clear blue waves was captivating. I somehow managed to convince my dad to go on one with me on New Years day. The waves were tranquil and the ocean was vacant, the sun setting made it all the more prepossessing. We rented the jet skis and put on our unnecessarily intense orange colored life jackets in case we were in the mood to blind a couple fish. Just before we could get onto our jet skis that kept attempting to float far away from us, we took a couple mandatory vacation pictures to show on social media our adventurous side. Finally, once the pictures were snapped and the …show more content…
It required a special skill I learned that I lacked, gracefulness. My technique for getting onto this Jet Ski was similar to one a rock climber would use. My dad and I took a couple more Jet Ski pictures with the sunset in the background but by the time he and I were both on it the sky had turn to an ombre of blues. We turned the engine on and rode out far into the ocean until all the palm trees on the shore looked like little green bubbles. When we sped up the Jet Ski the wind blowing at us made us a bit chilly but the warm water gathering itself around our feet kept us heated. One issue I kept coming across was while putting the Jet Ski into full speed the force of the wind caused me to have trouble keeping my eyes open which meant I was in control of heavy water machinery while being
Once in the water, one should slip their feet into the boots and adjust them for a proper fit by tightening them securely around one’s ankles for support. After the boots are secure, the driver will hook one end of the ski rope to the boat and toss the handle to you. When you have the rope in your hands, bend your knees a little bit with the board at a ninety degree angle in front of you. As the driver slowly accelerates, the rope will tighten, pulling you forward a bit. At this point, it is your responsibility to signal to the driver that you are
Visit Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs on Thursday. Watch them build big sand castles on Tuesday. Although I love the time with my family, it can never be the same as our first trip with my Uncle Tom. Due to the law of diminishing marginal utility, I began getting less and less happiness out of each Christmas vacation.
I approach the rugged mountain, shielding my body from the nasty frost nipping at my exposed skin. The sun ever so lightly peeks over the horizon as I strap on my skis, lightly dusted with a thin layer of fresh snow. Although my body shivers unceasingly, I feel comforted by the surges of adrenaline pumping through my body. I skate briskly toward the ski lift to secure my place as the first person in line. On the slippery leather seats of the lift my mind races, contemplating the many combinations of runs I can chain together before I reach the bottom of the hill. I arrive at the peak of the mountain and begin building up speed. Floating on the soft snow, weaving through the trees and soaring over rocks, I feel as if I am flying. The rush of adrenaline excites me. I feed on it. I thrive on it. I am ski; I live for speed; I am an evolving technique and I hold a firm edge.
The sound of music, filling the air with happiness, resonates throughout the area. The scent of delicious buttery popcorn and glazed turkey legs that go on for miles and miles. The feeling of excitement coming into the place is felt in the atmosphere. It is the image of a once in a lifetime moment. When people come in, their imaginations become reality. The name describes itself perfectly. Walt Disney World is the place of dreams and imagination. People come from all around the world to see the rides, characters, food and the entertainment of Walt Disney World. I remember when I went to Disney World this past March. It was the third time I have gone to Disney World. To see the amazement and the expectation of the
I was afraid at first; I had heard many over-exaggerated stories from people who had claimed foul play, on the part of gravity, while skiing. So naturally I was a bit skeptical, but Michael assured me that the best way to learn was to just go all out and try my luck on one of the many intermediate slopes. At the time it had sounded reasonable, so I did. I've heard it said before; "It's easier said than done." Whoever coined that one knew what he was talking about.
Pieter and I were determined to become proficient water skiers, while Rhea had knee issues that limited her participation. The Gibson Girl only had a forty horsepower motor, which wasn’t sufficient power for faster skiing or for doing tricks like skiing barefoot. I remember using the Comfort for some of our skiing before Dad traded the outboard for a sixteen-foot Gar Wood Junior, which had an inboard motor and more power. Pieter and I spent hours practicing the basics of getting up efficiently, skiing across the wake and then jumping the wake. It wasn’t long before we developed a passion for mastering slalom skiing. I wanted to ski all the time during that period.
Snorkeling in Hawaii at night to see the manta rays twirl and flip underneath us as they feed anxiously on krill, was once in a lifetime experience. To end the night you may think I had a restful sleep or a walk along the beach…. No I ended up throwing up all over my brothers in the back seat
How Ski Club Has Changed My Life Ski Club is almost always something that someone signs up for and pays money to get a ride and go ski or snowboard with a group of friends or acquaintances. When people start to ski or snowboard it is hard to get used to at first but when you do, it is one of the best feelings. To try and master a skill that intrigues you and to successfully master that skill is something that makes me very happy, in order to master a skill, you have to put in a lot of effort which can be stressful to a lot of people but for me I was looking forward to it and finally achieved it. The discourse community called Ski Club has been one of the greatest experiences of my life allowing me to learn new things and meet new people.
I remember a time in my life not too long ago when my family and I went white water rafting for the first time. We had been spending some of our summer vacation at a cabin in the Smokey Mountains, close to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The next day we would experience feelings of exhilarating excitement, with a sense of suspense and anticipation as we rafted down the Nantahala River.
The adventure began with a cold winter morning in florid, Uncle Bob and I decided to head out to his secret spot, the dive site was roughly 100ft and a Spanish Galleon laid rest. My dad dropped me off at the boat dock where I met up with Uncle Bob. We did a gear check to make sure we had everything to complete our dive. After the gear check, we headed out, after a couple
I am by myself wearing my blue jeans and an old flannel shirt. It is cool outside but I decided to leave my gloves at home, feeling comfortable with my warm shirt and my sturdy boots.
Familiarity with the craft: It is essential that you know the controls of the jet ski that you would be
The journey of life follows a predetermined pattern; we evolve from needing influence and guidance to finally reaching that point where our lives are up to us. I consider myself very lucky up to this point in my journey. Some people become sidetracked and wind up on a far different course than initially planned, but the detours I made have only assisted in embellishing the individual instead of devouring it.
My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy. I remembered waking up early excited to visit this new land. Used to take long flights, I was surprised to arrive to the destination after a one-hour flight. Even though the flight was short for me, it was stressful for my mom, she has never felt secured in a plane, probably due to the fact that she is afraid of height. When finally arrived at the destination, the dry and warm weather was there to welcome us. We all felt relief, and knew that this was the beginning of the summer. Excited, we had a lot of activities planned for the few weeks, me and my father could not wait to dive in the clear
Throughout someone’s life they will go to many places with their family, friends, another relatives. I have been on a few vacations that have made a lasting impact on my life. But one of the most memorable vacations I have experienced was with my cousins. I went to goa beach. Most of you probably don’t know about that beach but it is a very famous one in south India. I enjoyed myself to the fullest. The beach environment was enlightening. I would not have wanted to take this trip with anyone other than my cousins. We had a great time on the ocean sands and swimming in the ocean everyday made this vacation unforgettable.
