It was a cold day in Italy as I walked in snow and felt like my feet were screaming for help, they hurt so bad that I thought I couldn't go on but my dad told me that it was all gonna be worth it when I got to the place of freedom,America. I was with my parents and my big brother Two hours passed and we had finally got to the boat ,as I stood there looking at the boat I knew as I stepped on it that my life would never be the same. I walked on to the ramp and I started to feel butterflies in my stomach and it was like never before, and it was like my feet didn't even hurt anymore it was almost like they felt the joy I had in my heart and they stopped hurting. Person after person got on the boat and it became more crowded and crowded and it seemed like less and less room was on the bus. Woman ,Men,Kids, pets and people of all ages were getting on all hoping to have a better life in America . Some sick and some well but all had one dream and a heart full of hope. The boat had thousands of people on it and it wasn't clean at all. I remember looking at the bottom of my socks at night and they would be black from the floor. The food was horrible so me and …show more content…
They really didn't tell us how long it would take to do the boat inspection but I was hoping it wouldn't take long .After almost 12 hours we were called and we could leave to go to the building for further inspecting and questioning. As we walked into the bulding the room was the biggest thing I have ever seen in my life there was flags hanging from the roof and it was just so grand and beautify out of this world. We walked up the steps and the first thing we came to was a section were they separated us into groups for men and woman. They broke us up and I got scared that something would happen and I wouldn't see my family again but luckily my mom got separated with
While going through the state of Oklahoma it was not so bad, however, going through Texas was going to take forever. Taking an airplane was going to cost too much money so instead we traveled in a car. I look out of the car window and watched the sun go down, I began to fall asleep. I open my eyes and see bright lights. It was the border of Mexico. I look around seeing a great amount of cars and buses full of people who are eagerly wanting to be with their families in Mexico. After waiting in a
I’ve heard it all before from family and friends, “Martha, you should stop eating this or doing that”. I knew they only meant the best seeing how my blood pressure was through the roof and my ankles and knees were constantly sore. But it was still infuriating how others would make it seem like it was just so simple for me to change the lifestyle I’ve had for the past 35 years. The stress and weight piled up quickly after my messy divorce. I hit rock bottom and didn’t care much about my weight or eating habits that shaped my 5’5” 350 pound frame. However, everything changed after taking my 6 year old daughter to the fair on a Saturday morning about 2 years ago.
everything was packed, we carried out our cooler, rods, bait, and tackle boxes down to the dock. The sky was just beginning to turn a light gray color, and all the trees were standing still. We filled up the boat with our fishing supplies, and I untied the ropes from the dock. The boat was white and blue on the outside, with a matching interior. The engine was always a little slow starting, but that morning it fired on the first try.
The alarm clock wakes me up around 7:30 a.m. The sun is already trying to sneak into my room. I do not think that El Paso has a much time living in the darkness. The scintillating sun does not leave until 9 p.m.
I was nervous of flying alone, and not knowing anyone over there, but most of all I was nervous, and anxious to meet my grandma. It was a long drive from the airport to my grandma’s house. Before getting to the town where my grandma lived my uncle drove through a long road full of dirt and everything I saw was dust filling the air because of the cars in front of us, malnourished dogs all over the street, and cows as if they were pedestrians. We stopped in front of a white and green house on the corner of the street. Next to the house was a store and right in front were a kiosk and this place called “la cancha” were the people in town played soccer. I got down the car and my grandma hugged me and kissed me and said I looked like my dad’s side of the family. She was loving right in that instant without really knowing me, but she was just like every other grandma. She looked and sounded just like my mom, dark skin, light brown hair, slanted eyes, and both their voice was soft. She made me feel comfortable and like at home that I couldn’t be afraid of her. She took me everywhere she went, she showed me around town and introduced me to family that knew my mom. When I left I cried not because I was scared, but because I didn’t want to leave my grandma. I loved my nana even if she was old because I started to understand that dying is part of life, were born to
It took a while to actually understand what had happened, but it seemed to me that I almost drowned. For the rest of the boat ride, we stayed out in sun either on the tube or in the front of the boat. We drove by the islands and saw a few tremendous houses. Soon it started to get dark out on the lake, so we started heading back to the car. My parents went to the little office to pay for the boat, while my sisters and I waited in the parking lot to dry off. Once they were done we hopped in the car and drove off to the hotel to change out of our wet clothes. When we got back everyone relaxed after our long
There I was, holding onto my suitcase, standing in the airport about to board my plane. I was fifteen years old, going into my sophomore year of high school, and I was going to Italy for ten days with my best friend and a tour group from his school. For months, we had been counting down the days until we leave. The day was finally here and everyone around was full of excitement. Everyone else had been on planes multiple times in their lives. As for me, I had never been on an airplane before and had no idea what to expect about this upcoming eight hour plane ride. This was going to be the first time I was ever away from home. The thought of being away from my family for this long, was a little intimidating to me. I always had the company and support of my family. I never traveled anywhere on my own before. It was not until we were waiting at this point, just minutes away from boarding the plane, that I realized how nervous I actually was.
...ody and filling me with joy, a bubbling feeling of comfort and pleasure at the same time and it also felt like I wasn’t even there experiencing those blessing in my life.
We got into our lines, behind groups of excited families and happy little old men and women. As the line ascended up the ramp onto this enormous water vessel, pictures were taken of every group of passengers. Smile, laugh and look happy! Riiight. As a matter of fact, I was pretty anxious. I'd never been on a boat like this, and especially not for a whole week.
One sunny morning me and best friend had woke up with the sunlight hitting our faces. I looked at her and said I couldn’t wait we were going tubing that morning before we had a storm which was most likely to happen. I was super excited. Then we looked at the time and it was already 10:00 am and we were going on the lake at noons we rushed next door to her grandparents’ motor home and asked if breakfast was ready. But really we didn’t have to ask we could smell sausage burning and the hear the crackling while the toast popped out of the toaster. JUst then
One morning I was woken by my mom who was in a panic. I was told to wake up and go to her room. I was so scared and worried and I could not figure out what was going on. Soon after I sat on her bed my little sister had joined me. Then soon after that my brother is walking in with my mom right behind. We were all still half asleep and confused by what was happening. I remember looking at my sister and her saying to me “Its daddy…” I did not know what to think. Maybe he got hurt, maybe he was sick. This felt like the longest moment of my life. Then finally as my siblings and I were looking up at my mother crying I said “What’s going on?” After my mom got up the nerve she looked at her three children and said “Your father is dead.”
While walking by the shore I was amazed by the soft smooth sand beneath my feet, it seemed like all the worries I had throughout the year were finally erased. There was a rock facing the ocean that it thought was really cool, so I decided to settle there for a moment to appreciate the view, I closed my eyes for a second letting myself comforted by the sounds of the ocean, the sounds the waves were making against the rocks was impressive. Spending a few more minutes on the rock I decided to go back. Tying to help my parents for making breakfast, they sent me and my brother to get bread, and a few croissants at the bakery. My brother was driving while I was still wondering the landscape, I thought it was interesting how this island contained a mix between mountains, and beaches. At the table, conversations were spontaneous and positives, I forgot how fun breakfast could be when spending with family. That day we had has a plan to go to the beach, my mom could guess what me and my father had in mind. It was scuba diving and hunting with harpoons, but before we had to first buy the necessary equipment, and study the fishes we could hunt, since some were protected, and review the fishes that were edible. Finally done with preparation we headed to the beach, me and my dad waited that day for so long, being a big fan of hunting, I was quite impressed by the number of variety the Mediterranean Sea could provide, also what really shocked
When we got back to the hotel it was time to load up the boat and get ready to head out. Before we actually took off the captain of the boat talked to all of us that were there. He talked to us about to rules of the boat and that if someone went over board to yell it really loud. He also said,” If you feel the need to get sick please try and make it to the side of the boat, also you can bait the fish so we can all see them underwater.” Also, he told us that there was free water and Gatorade on the boat for our convenience if we got thirsty. The boat was a two level boat so there was an upstairs. There was even a bathroom on board. Justus and I climbed the later and went on up to sit on the benches upstairs. We got up to the top level and sat down then the boat finally took off. It was really relaxing being up above with the smell of the fresh Florida air and the wind in my hair. Also with the ocean all around me it was just peaceful. The captain said it would take about fifty minutes to get to the dive spots where we were diving. We went to two different spots to dive. The first one we jumped in the water and went under about 40 feet. When we went down we had to hold on to a rope until we got all the way down. The one thing I didn’t like going down was the pain I had in my ears because all the pressure. When we got down to the bottom we were underwater for about forty-five minutes. We had
Over the summer I went to Kings Island with my close friend, Elizabeth, and her family. We drove to Ohio and stayed in a hotel for three days. The drive was about three hours and let me tell you, three hours in a car with Elizabeth and her brothers is odd. We brought two totes of snacks and it was pretty much all gone by the time we got to the hotel. My friend and I slept most of the drive so we didn’t have much trouble.
I was very excited to go swimming and meet other people to hang out with while I was outside. After, I went to my room to get a shower and put on some comfortable clothes I walked to the very front of the boat and the wind was blowing like 60 miles per hour. When I looked once again, I could see this little island with many lights on it and it was called the Bahamas. The Bahamas was very enormous and there were different shops to buy things at. When the boat finally arrived their everyone got off to go explore the island and buy thing, so I decided to look around and I bought different drinks to try. When I got to the edge there was very blue amazing glimmery water reflecting to me it was so cool to see kids playing and swimming in the water and on the
