When I was younger I was not so smart and would do questionable stuff all the time. I would jump from boulders to other boulders, climb on top of chairs, and even try killing snakes I would find in our yard. One day I learned a lesson from going on one of my self proclaimed adventures with a good friend. I had been with my friend, Ian Busking, at his house over the weekend. we went outside and played soccer and basketball. We had good fun for a while but after a bit we were both trying to think of a new game to play so we put our minds together and thought. We came up with a game to see who could jump the highest. What we did was set up a game of ladder ball and used the rungs as the bar, then we tried jumping over them. I went first and
when I jumped my foot caught the rung, consequently I began to panic because I was about to fall so of course me being the dumb kid I was I extended my arm fully and locked it, bracing for impact. The landing did not go well I ended up with a clean break through both bones and a lot of regret. At first I wasn’t crying because of the pain I was crying because I knew how my dad would react not to mention the fact that I had never seen an arm looking like mine did right then. For the next nine weeks I had a cast as well as some problems because I broke my dominant arm. Ever since then I have been considerably more cautious and safe and while I still do some dumb stuff I learned a major lesson that day.
One day a few kids were walking down the road so I thought it would be cool if I told him to jump into a river, I even knew that he could swim, so he did. When he started to drown I realized that he could die so I jumped in and got him out. He forgot that I told him to do it and was thanking me for saving him.
We took the field in the second half. We won the face off this time. We went down the field, shot the ball, and the goalie saved it. He threw the ball up to his forward right in front of me, and I stepped up and hit the kid to prevent him from getting the pass and scoring. When I hit him, he fell straight to the ground and I couldn’t see where the ball was. It bounced and went in the net. I was so embarrassed at that point.
Growing up as an only child I made out pretty well. You almost can’t help but be spoiled by your parents in some way. And I must admit that I enjoyed it; my own room, T.V., computer, stereo, all the material possessions that I had. But there was one event in my life that would change the way that I looked at these things and realized that you can’t take these things for granted and that’s not what life is about.
Well, today I was walking to the cafeteria with my friends and we saw that on the lunch line were bags of Cheez-its, and that is like our favorite thing to eat. Me and my friends all got our lunch and a bag of Cheez-its. We all decided to wait till we are done with our lunch before we opened the bags of Cheez-its. Finally we, had eaten our lunch. We were gonna play a game with the bag of Cheez-its. The game was supposed to go in order around your table you open an in order one by one as quickly as you can. I was the last open suppose to open my bag of Cheez-its. The whole table counted to three
We were outside playing this game I made up which took awhile for him to understand. I called it Splat! How to play it was kinda like tag but more intense. If you were tagged you would have to close your eyes and try to tag the other person which, in my case, was really hard. That same day I went inside to get a drink of water and noticed in the window something on the floor outside, I guessed it was a leaf of some sort
something that I had to do in order to prove to myself that I was smart enough.
On a humid afternoon, I remember sitting on that old renovated school bus, wearing denim shorts and an old tee, completely soaked in mucky water from head to toe. When my mom told me about the weeklong adventure camp that was completely free for military dependent kids, I suppose I was unprepared for the level of adventuring in store. With her dad stationed in Alaska, my best friend Yarish also came with me to Clemson, South Carolina where it was held in July 2012.
I open my eyes on a sandy beach, wet, damp and hurt. I slowly push myself off the ground and look around myself. The sun is hot and I am parched. The only thing I have with me is my backpack, which only has gum, crackers, books and my handheld video game. I look next to my brother on the sand, probably in the same boat as me. My name is Joseph Oscar and I am stranded.
“ Of course I am!” I answered with a mouth full of luscious velvet cake.
It was a long and silent night. I couldn’t help but realize that, as the night progressed, my chances of survival were decreasing. I had intentionally come out to the forest to find some crowberry for my pet jackalope, Rufus; it was the time of season the berries were to be at their ripest point, but little had I known that it would arrive. It was a beast with teeth the size of rock, the head of a tiger, the body of a snake, the wings of a great eagle, and green, glowing eyes staring at you as if your death approached with every step it took. I was lucky to have survived, but my friend, Thomas, wasn’t. I had watched as the beast took Thomas away to its lair in the high peaks of Mount Atheodus, while I had to return to Rufus.
If time could stand still or even go back I would make it so I never moved and to be back with him. I miss his short blonde hair and his bright blue eyes. My names Dakota I have brown hair and hazel eyes. I used to live in California till I moved to Moscow due to my families issues in California. Let’s rewind time to before I moved so I can tell you my story.
I have encountered the quote,” Easy Does It, Sun” in my life. for example, I was in the Woodland summer camp in 4th grade and they were holding an egg drop in competition. I imprudently forgot to work on it beforehand. Therefore, I woke up really early the day it was due to start my project because I really wanted to win the competition. My mind was racing with many ideas I was putting together in my brain. As I ran hastily down the stairs, I mistakenly slipped and fell. Then, my parents, Grandparents, and sister rushed after me to see if I was okay. I suddenly had lost consciousness and was unresponsive. my mom called 911 and my sister prepared to give me CPR. It was a very frightening moment for everyone. Luckily, my sister had
“It’s good to see you,,” said Emily as she hugged Ana back. BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, “sorry Emily I have to go to my first class I will see you in third period.” said Ana.,. Emily was a little upset that her best friend wasn't in the same class,, which was going to make her day extra hard.
I often find myself busy outside school. Sometimes I wonder if other people are to. I participate in many things. Also I enjoy hanging out with my friend. My days outside school are pretty entertaining and in my own way busy.
Well, as I began to get older I started to achieve more and more. When was 8 I started washing dish. That was a great achievement to me back then, but now I regret it. Now my mother makes me wash dish all the time. When I go to other people house they want me to wash their dishes. Now I hate washing dish. After learning how to wash
