“I want to let you know how thankful I am for your assistance, Sam.” Mr. Bushnell said, leading me into an elevator.
I mumbled a “you’re welcome” as I struggled to hold together a box of assorted computer parts - keyboards, mice, flash drives, hard drives, and much more. My legs were buckling under the weight, but I managed to hold out thus far without collapsing. It was my first day on the job at this company. Dad scored me a job with his business associate, thinking it would teach me some sort of responsibility and put my freakish knowledge of computers to good use. In reality, it was probably to get me out of the house and away from those role-playing games I’d play online with others.
The elevator zoomed straight down to the bottom

After getting further instructions on where to find the person, I rushed to the fifth floor to see the issue. At the door, I was greeted by a dwarf in typical work attire. He couldn’t have been more than four feet tall.
“Are you going to stand there and gawk over me like some sort of Ripley’s freak show, or are you going to fix my computer?” the dwarf said, giving me a death stare. I apologized profusely and went straight to his desk. I had to borrow a chair since this guy had a booster seat on his, and I doubt I needed to make a return to my years as a toddler. The computer was in the middle of a reboot phase, probably because he lied to me over the phone. As it began, I was greeted by a desktop filled to the brim with icons. It was truly an ugly sight. “Well, what’s the problem?” he said, trying to peek at the screen. “You have way too many icons on the screen, so that may be the central problem.” I replied, opening a new folder to store the files orderly. One by one, I orderly stored documents, spreadsheets, and other important files into three or so separate folders. I also got rid of a few programs that were just hogging memory, and ran a virus scan. After about 30 minutes, his computer was back to the way it was - speedy enough to get by, and
“Thank you, sir. I just don’t understand what’s happening, this seems so surreal...Mr. Morris, Where is Lizzie?”
“Oh I can help you right now. I would need to amputate your leg and-” Tom started.
Today was a lot more exciting than Tuesday, we had a good number of patients scheduled for different things. I went on both sides of the operatory and saw more interesting stuff on Dr. Williams side. The dental assistant was taking some impressions for a full set of dentures and basically showed me everything that needed to be done for the full set of dentures to be made. The next patient was a doctor and he could not hear for nothing. So, the whole time me and the hygienist was talking he could not hear anything we had to say. At the very end after he was all done, he looked up at the hygienist and said were you guys talking crap about me. I was like no sir we were not. The next patient on the assistant’s side just came in for Invisalign impressions
“I have an appointment with Mr. Silvers. The receptionist was not at the desk so I came back here to see if I could find someone,” she said and snickered.
Growing up as an only child I made out pretty well. You almost can’t help but be spoiled by your parents in some way. And I must admit that I enjoyed it; my own room, T.V., computer, stereo, all the material possessions that I had. But there was one event in my life that would change the way that I looked at these things and realized that you can’t take these things for granted and that’s not what life is about.
“I’ll check”, she said as she took off her satchel and dug inside. She pulled out two pick axes, “here, make yourself useful.”
“I suppose that I have never properly thanked you for saving my life. I am sorry for that. I was not sure then that I wished it saved.”
Frowning he stepped forward quickly, suppressing a shiver. It wasn’t late yet, but the cliffs hid the sun from this wing of the castle by two o’clock and an hour later the halls were already chilly. Feeling a little confused but mostly suspicious. He narrowed his eyes trying to locate the professor in the dim light. None of
Nothing could be worst than your dad bringing up "THE CONVERSATION." Starting at age 5 I loved playing soccer, running up and down the field, making moves and kicking balls to the back of the net was always the way to go. Soccer meant the world to me and especially playing with my best friends since the day I started. My days would go something like this, go to school, get home,do homework then get ready and go to a beautiful fun day at soccer! After soccer I would go home sit on the couch and eat.I was a lazy one. That's why I hoped my dad would never ever bring up this conversation.... But he did anyways.
went to sit down on the sofa. A few minuets later my food was ready
"You said that you had data recovery as a utility program, so it shouldn't be that hard to fix them."
“Oh yes, thank you, thank you, thank you! You have been a very great help for me.”
It was my fault, no one else’s, the time where failure hit harder than someone beating a drum. End of spring 2013 I found out that I was repeating the grade all over again, never have I imagined myself being in that position till that year. Leading up to this was beginning of ninth grade year, terrified knowing that I wasn't going to know anybody I was going to be alone. I went through so much emotionally it began to show the first few weeks of high school. Constantly having anxiety attacks where I end up staying the entire day in the office since I kept crying eyes out.
In the year of 2010 around 11:00AM on a bright and sunny summer morning and not a cloud in the sky, you could hear birds chirping and feel the wind blowing, I was planning on swimming in my clear heated pool in my backyard with colorful lights on the inside, it was planned to be the perfect day. Little did I know I was not going to be the only one swimming.
For the years leading up to my freshman year, I saved every penny I earned. Eventually I had enough to go and purchase all the components. I ordered everything and patiently waited for the amazon boxes to arrive. One week later there was a stack of boxes five feet high sitting in my room. During the time they were shipping, I watched every video I could on Linus Tech Tips, a YouTube channel dedicated to computers. On a Thursday Afternoon in April, I assembled my computer. First putting the motherboard, cpu, and graphics card together outside of the case to make sure everything worked properly. The computer didn’t turn on. I was horrified, thinking that I had broken something. In actuality, the only problem was that I did not switch the power supply on. Following my brief heart attack, I finished putting everything inside the case, I turned it on once more, making sure that I turned the power supply on. It worked. I was elated and could not think of anything besides installing Windows after school the next day. My computer has become one of my most prized possessions, and something I use almost every
