Leadership has been defined as the process whereby an individual influences others in accomplishment of shared objectives. Leadership is not a one-way linear event in which only the leader affects the followers but a process through which leaders influence and they are affected by their followers. It is undisputable truth that the success or failure of an enterprise is dependent on the presence of a visionary leader who is able to offer direction in achieving the business’s objectives. Leaders are known to inspire and instill a sense of dedication and zeal to their followers which are principles crucial for success. There is tendency to view leadership in the context of highly successful business enterprises in the world that has led to the misconception that leaders are great and famous people. Successful corporations in the world have relied on the genius of their leaders to succeed. Nonetheless, in response to the changing global business environment and operations, the need for individual leaders or teams has increased significantly. The external business environment has become increasingly dynamic with uncertainty and demands for change being the two major issues faced by corporations.
Leadership is not about one’s personality; it more about a set of observable of skills and capabilities. Research has showed that leaders share common core practices: they model the way; inspire a shared vision, enable others to act and lastly, they encourage the heart. By modeling the way, leaders are able to institute the standards pertaining to the manner in which people should be treated and the ways objectives should be followed and attained. ...ey have moved out of the house, he still plays the role of being their father. His children regularly seek his knowledge and wisdom whenever they encounter a challenging situation. At the workplace, he nurtured leadership and pride among his followers. He made sure that every follower felt proud of his or her work, comprehend how their work contribute to the overall judicial institution and inculcating the feeling that they too can offer leadership. Father always led by example welcoming every opportunity that presented itself to work side by side with judicial employees. But he also recognized that every employee has a role to play within the institution that was not interchangeable. Nonetheless, he insists that he performed poorly in delegating duties and even though he improved as his career progressed, he desires to have been more efficient in this area.
