What is a personal journey? In my opinion a personal journey is an experience that changes the character and also changes their attitude towards their goals and dream. There is a big journey in Long Shot the autobiography of Mike Piazza arguably one of the best batters in his position in MLB history. Mike Piazza was compelled to start his journey to the MLB because he believed that his dream would come true and because he didn’t wanna let down his family since they believed in him. Along the journey to fame he learns 1)Hard work pays off 2)never give up 3) don’t let anyone's words or actions ever effect or get to you. First off let's go through what compels Mike Piazza to go off on his personal journey to pro baseball. I believe that it is because it is his the dream he wants to happen so desperately. I can prove from where it says in his book on page 33 when Tommy Lasorda dodgers manager says “‘And, one day I’m going to sign him’” and he then says “With my goal clarified and my expectations taking flight”. As you can he believes in himself …show more content…
You could hear it all the way down the street. He was out there a lot.” Here is where you hear the neighbor describing all the hard work put in and then when he made it big he realized it was all worth it. The second thing he learned is never give up take for example when everyone came and said he can’t make it his catching is sloppy but he never gave up and he is now because he didn’t give up one of the best Catcher’s. The third thing he learned on his long personal journey is don’t let anyone's words or actions ever effect or get to you.on page 42 it shows when a scout ask the father “‘Didn’t you ever put at a glove on his hand.” So the scout was basically saying his catching skills are bad but he never let that get to him brushed it off and worked hard in the offseason to work on his
I picked Derek Jeter as my person for a lot of different reasons. One of them is that I feel like I can connect with him. I love baseball just as much as he did. I admire him in how humble he is. Even with all of his world series rings, he never gets cocky. Derek Jeter taught me that no dream is too big if you work hard and are determined.
Manny learns a life lesson through wanting a baseball glove which is the first step of him
Joe DiMaggio is an All-American baseball player who was a great influence on the United States. Joe had a great life filled with marriages, kids, and a great baseball career. Joe DiMaggio had many successes and failures during his baseball career, making him very interesting in the eyes of the public.
As the reader can distinguish throughout the book, both men went in completely different paths after starting in the same position. The difference between both of their stories is the author’s positive role model and the other effects of the military academy. It does not have to specifically be the military academy to shape someone to be successful, but discipline and a father-like figure can make the difference. My father is fortunately in my life, and has shaped me into the person I am today. He has taught me numerous lessons that have gotten me to this point in my life. I am privileged enough to also have close successful cousins who often give me advice on how to become as successful as they are. With the help of a positive role model and a positive environment, the ability to become a good person, as well as successful can be obtained.

Experiences of journeys provide insights into the lives of individuals and the world around them
I love baseball. I love to play baseball and read baseball comics. I have read a lot of Japanese baseball comics, and almost all Japanese baseball comics’ heroes were fastball pitchers. This comic’s hero was a typical typed pitcher in Japanese baseball comics. He could throw the fastest fastball in his team, and became the ace pitcher of his team when he was a freshman.
The Hero’s Journey is an ancient archetype that we find throughout our modern life and also, in the world of literature.Whether metaphorical or real, the journey that a character goes on shows not only the incredible transformation of the hero but it also gives them their life meaning. It is the ultimate human experience and it reflects on every aspect of life. Take Logan, also known as Wolverine, from the X-Men movie as an example. His adventure starts with “The Call,” which is the first step of the Hero’s Journey. This step happens due to the realization of imbalance and injustice that the character has in their life. Logan steps into the first stage of the pattern but is hesitant to start his adventure because he does not know what and
Historically journeys were seen as the physical movement of a group of people migrating from one place to another. Additionally, journeys were usually only found throughout the history of civilization and religion. Despite this, journeys come in all aspects and are found in a variety of mediums. Specifically, two journeys that are found in the literary works of The Epic of Gilgamesh and Monkey: A Journey to the West are physical and intellectual. These two stories exemplify what a journey consists of by construction the plots around each protagonist participating in both journeys.
The hero’s journey can be seen as a set of laws or challenges that every hero faces through their own journey(Christopher Vogler). The hero’s journey is used as a general term such as all
Everyone is different, from me my hero's journey consists of my threshold crossing which was when I started depending on myself more than I did on others, my helpers/mentors like my parents, teachers, my sister and many more influential people in my life finally, my rewards were getting awards in school, having a nice family, and many friends. I still have many stages to go through. Nevertheless I have completed many stages. One day it would be nice to write another heroic journey like Joseph Campbell did and filled with many more details and
He had been scared about being at the bottom of the food chain again. He pulled through well, but had a couple of social issues as this stage in his life progressed. For example, he had some experiences with peer pressure by his fellow classmates. It was important for him to go through this, because he needed to learn about standing up for what he believes in.
Growing up, I have always had a passion for baseball. To me, it is much more than just a sport. There have been times when it has acted as an escape from many problems in my life, as I feel that when I am on the diamond, nothing can hurt me. I am aware that many people feel this way about the sport they love, but sadly their careers often come to an abrupt end due to injury. I have a personal connection to this experience. The summer before my fourth grade year I was attending a basketball camp at Davidson College, when in the final seconds of a scrimmage game, my ankle was kicked out from under me. I immediately fell to the ground in pain as my ankle rolled over on itself. Coaches aided me in limping off of the court and to the training room
One of the earliest memories I have of my father is when he would take me to the park and we would play baseball. My father was eager to teach me everything he knew about the game, and I was eager to learn. He took it easy on me at first, allowing me to overcome my fear of being hit by the ball. Each time we went back to the park he would throw the ball a little harder. It was not long before I could catch almost anything he threw at me. My father also used his knowledge of the game to teach me to hit a baseball. Eventually, I was skilled enough to play any position on a baseball team.
There is a quote from Kira Salak who said: “If a journey doesn't have something to teach you about yourself, then what kind of journey is it?” What does that quote mean? What Kira means by a journey is by either a physical, spiritual, or mental journey. These journeys can show people who they really are if they think that they know themselves well and they actually did not. They gain their knowledge about themselves. That information can be especially important to them in areas like a job.
