Personal integrity or being true to myself is one of many indispensable characteristics that continues to be a driving force in my life. Upon completing my undergraduates at Texas A&M, there have been two factors that have played a role in why my GPA is below a 3.0: being a transfer/freshman student, and suffering from an illness. First, I went to college at the age of fourteen, while also attending one of Dallas’ best high schools- Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Early College. Although most people that I know have all claimed that that was a wonderful opportunity- which it was, for it did enable me to attain my Associate 's degree before my high school diploma. Nevertheless, it also had a negative effect on me. Upon arriving at Texas A&M University, I went into a major that I thought was right for me; however, I was just pressured into it by my father- I wanted to please him by going into the medical field. However, during my first week at A&M, I realized that I cannot run away from a career that delights me just upon thinking about it: which is …show more content…
Furthermore, I do not view my current undergraduate performance at Texas A&M as an accurate representation of my academic abilities. Nonetheless, I am content that this university has allowed me to gain countless lessons within a short period of time. Since recovering from my illness and cultivating a phenomenal study habit that is appropriate for the level of education that I am at, my GPA has been steadily improving. I took two classes at A&M University Summer 2016: Introduction to Logic and Politics in Media, and I received an A and B respectively. Logic, being considered a highly strenuous course to pass, I am elated that I was able to supersede my own expectations as well as my
When I was younger I use to pretend to be a doctor or nurse. It was always fun to go around and check to see who had a heart beat, who was bleeding, and who was hurt. I knew that I wanted a career in the medical field, but was unsure if I really wanted to be a doctor or a nurse. I thought the only career was to be a doctor or nurse. Of course, the medical profession is larger than that. It includes office staff, EMT’s, nurses, physician assistants, and several other kinds of physicians. While the opportunities are endless in this career field, I have decided that being a doctor or nurse was not what I really wanted to do. It takes too long; the schooling alone is longer than four years. I was not willing to spend more than four years in school. Instead I decided that I wanted to do something that is in the same field as a doctor or nurse. Yet, something that takes less time in school to get a degree for. In addition, I wanted it to be something that I could do to help doctors, nurses, and patients. That is when I found out that Medical Coding and Billing is what I wanted to do.
All my life I have known that I wanted to be involved in the medical field. At first, I wanted to be a Physical Therapist. The only problem was, I wasn’t excited about my possible future career. Then, I got offered a job doing in home care. I then knew I wanted to widened
I began my college career unsure of the path ahead of me. I knew I had a passion for medicine, however, I did not know which direction I would take. With the expansive amount of options offered within the fields of science and medicine, it was difficult to narrow down exactly what direction I wanted to take. I gained some clarity the summer of my sophomore year when I stayed at a close friend’s home, whose father, a practicing Medical Physician, became somewhat of a mentor to me. The passionate way in which he discussed the practice of medicine led me to develop an interest in pursuing a career as a physician. He explained that a career in the medical field was about responsibility, the responsibility to work with all members of the healthcare team for the well-being of the patient as well as their family
For the many years that humans have roamed in this world, we have always been very concerned about what other people will think about our reasoning behind our decisions. This perpetual ideal often hinders an individual to act based upon their moral values and beliefs. Integrity is the virtue that incorporates these values and decisions of righteousness; this virtue also evidently shows a person’s true character. It is merely impossible to embrace this perfectly at the moment of birth. Acts of courage are essential for developing and nurturing integrity because they strengthen one’s moral value system along with raising awareness of the path or decisions they take in life and it also brings forth a realization that the
Choosing a major has never been an easy task; after high school graduation, without a college plan, many of us finds ourselves taking classes we don’t even need in the first year of college. Setting aside some times to decide what we want to do in life, what we want to study, and where we want to be in the next five years or so can help us save time, money, and most likely can direct us toward our most coveted career goal. Changing our mind along the way is typical of us, but there are always many majors to choose from; but when it comes to the healthcare field, not every single one of us interested in healthcare as a profession gets to wear the white coat or the scrub because some of us hate the sight of blood and needles. These people may consider healthcare administration as a career, but is it worth it to choose healthcare administration as a career?
When discussing integrity and ethics regarding law enforcement it is difficult to just narrow down to one element representative thereof. The first item of importance referring to integrity is, to be honest, and transparent in everything that you do so that the public can see you, as a community representative, are trying to foster good working community relations and that you as a leader will not stand for any misconduct. Recently here in Nashville, Tennessee (Alund & Sawyer, 2017) we were faced with an officer involved shooting of a suspect who evaded, possessed a loaded weapon, and fought up until the point the officer felt an immense fear for his safety and the safety of the community so unfortunately he was left with no alternative. Unfortunately, the victim passed in surgery. The suspect was later found to be driving on a revoked driver’s license, serving an 8-year probation for drug
In high school, I was among those students who always indicated that I will be going college. However, unlike most people I seem to meet these days I did not know that I wanted to be a doctor. When it was time to head off to college, I was still unsure of what I wanted to pursue. As most college freshmen, I did not know what major best suits my personality. I desired a career that would define who I am and a career that is self-gratifying. However, the path that I should follow was unclear to me. Because of my uncertainty I failed to see that my parents dream became my reality. As I began my college experience as a nursing student, I felt somewhat out of place. I realized that my reason for majoring in nursing was my parents' influence on me. They wanted me to believe that nursing is right for me. I always knew I wanted to go into the medical field, but I felt that I needed to know how to choose a medical specialty that I feel is right for me. My first step was to change my major. I chose to change my major to biology. My love for science led me to this decision. I began to explore the opportunities open to biology students.
The world we live in today is far from perfect. Hearing about murder and violence is something we have all become, accustom to but does that make it right? Absolutely not. Media has influenced an affected a key value of human beings and that value is integrity. The value of integrity is severely lacking and society needs to reestablish the ability to look beyond race, gender, and sexuality. I have seen on multiple occasions’ individuals jumping to conclusions or judging someone simply off the way they look or dress. This has been an issue I have witnessed throughout my high school career and in my everyday routine; media is a large contribution and something needs to be done.
Integrity is the quality of being honest. When you are honest about something or a certain situation you are considered a person of integrity. Also when you have integrity you have strong moral principles. When you have strong moral principles you know what is right and what is wrong. “Having integrity means doing the right thing in a reliable way. It's a personality trait that we admire, since it means a person has a moral compass that doesn't waver. It literally means having "wholeness" of character, just as an integer is a "whole number" with no fractions.” Furthermore, having integrity is a quality that many strive to have because it often means that you are a good person.
Throughout my years of high school and at my previous college I’ve gone through several iterations of choosing a major field – first physics, then chemistry, then biology, then art history, then geology. It was a daunting, frustrating experience for myself and my career counselors.
Honesty and integrity are very important in the medical field. We as healthcare workers are given such trust and responsibility. We should always strive to do our best and when faced with tough situations. When we don't always know what to do or the proper way to react we should always be honest. Let our superiors know what is going on and ask for advice when we need to. This would show that we are honest. When we come into contact with patients they rely on us to do the right thing and always perform our job with integrity. Often people’s lives are in our hands. We have to care about the patient and care about our job in order to continue to provide quality care. If someone hates their job they are not going to give their best in every way they can. The medical field is not a place for that person.
Honesty is basically friendship. It is important to have an honest friendship, because it you don’t then pretty much the entire friendship would be based on a lie. If you aren’t honest to your best friend, or the person who you’re closest to then are you even honest with yourself? Imagine that your best friend was you. Would you want them to be dishonest to you.
Life is said to be divided into two dominant salient phases in many cultures: in the first phase, from childhood to middle adulthood, we are becoming individuals, gaining knowledge about traditions and values of cultures and learning the ways of the world and maintaining ourselves in the demands of family, work, and society. In the second phase, which begins as Jung declared, with the midlife crisis, we begin spinning inward, reconnecting with the center of our being identifying ourselves as unique and approachable personality . In the first phase we build and develop our ego and in the second phase we transcend and surrender it (Metzner, 1998).
Ones said, “integrity is the foundation for all relationships” success comes and go, but integrity is forever (Forbes 2012). Hence, the importance to do the right thing on everything we do is essential to prevent embarrassing situations in which it will follow any individual for the rest of their career. Academic Integrity reflects my future job actions, it is the path that will open the doors to my future. If the academic credibility is not at a hundred percent, it will show in the workplace, positive or negative demeanor is an obvious signal how one is capable to build credibility, outstanding reputation or make a company loose
When a person thinks about honesty, they think about someone telling the truth. The definition of honesty is the quality of being honest, and being absent from telling a lie. Honesty has been used throughout all of history. This is a quality everyone needs in his or her life. But in present time today, not too maybe people aren’t as honest as they used to be, and this can really hurt us today as a nation. Using this quality can benefit a person in ways they never thought. When someone is honest they are a better person than someone who is dishonest, there are positive effects of being honest, and having this quality will better his or her self.
