Personal Growth Experience
As a mother I have cared and tried to push my son’s education so that he can succeed in his life. I came from a large family in Brazil. I wasn’t the only child; I learned to share, how provide for myself, and for my 3 sisters, and 3 brothers. My father was a serious man; he had a job, and still came home to provide for all of us. During dinnertime he insisted that everyone had to be home and had to sit down at the table and talk about their day. This was a must in my family too. The reason why he had that rule was because he was a religious man, and meals should be shared with the family as well as conversations. No one had any choice of not sitting at the table, unless we didn’t want to eat.
When I had a child, I waited for the right time to have one. I didn’t want to rush into motherhood responsibility until I had everything in order to support my child. My husband had to find a job, and so did I. We had a house, a car, and jobs to support my child; we were ready. When my child was born, I chose to go to the United States of America, so that my child can have a better life. In Brazil, the education is not challenging, and not recognized in other parts of the world as a higher education. For him to have a better education, a better standard of living, and for him to have what we never had, we had to give up our lives in Brazil. As the years went by I was always there for my son. Through my eyes as he grows older, he is still the little boy that I held in my arms for the first time. In his teenage years I have seen him grow further away from me. Every day when he gets home he goes to his room without talking to me, or saying anything about his day. I guess that is what all kids go through in these years, because of the stage of exploration of new things in life. Like driving, video games, girls, and puberty. I still love my son, and even if he doesn’t want to talk to me then I guess he has everything in order in his life.

However, as the plot progresses, Ralph faces both internal and external conflicts; from those conflicts he greatly matures. Ralph always has the strong belief that all the children will be saved from the island sooner or later; he is so sure that he even insists that they should have fire at all times to signal. However, when the boys abandon the fire which is symbolic of Ralph’s hope of getting saved, Ralph faces an internal conflict that makes him fear about their future; perhaps they will not be rescued at all. By insisting that the children should keep the fire going, he creates an external conflict with Jack whose values are different. Jack is enjoying life as a leader of the savages, and he fears that fire will possibly end his authoritarian rule over the savages. Both conflicts are resolved when Ralph finally meets the naval officer.
To begin, survival is the key in every ones mindset. You only live once as most people say. However, with Jack and Ralph and the rest of the boys, they all seemed that all hope was lost. They had been stranded in the island for months, hoping that one day, someone will find them and return them home. Ralph was the most panicked person in the group simply because he hadn’t cut his hair and it was growing. When Simon was killed by the bother boys, it represents when christ was crucified by the Roman soldiers for accusations of not being the son of God. Simon was definitely a christ figure in Lord of the Flies, and it shows in so many ways. Most of the things that Simon went through on the island with the boys were very similar to the things that christ went through while he was on Earth.
Man’s inhumanity to man literally means human’s cruelty towards other humans. This is a major theme of the story and is seen throughout it. Golding himself even states that “man produces evil as a bee produces honey.” A review of the book states how Golding portrays this “because the boys are suffering from the terrible disease of being human.” Piggy, Ralph, and Simon are the “rational good of mankind” portrayed in the book, and Jack and his hunters are the “evil savagery of mankind.” “The beast” is a symbol for the evil in all humans, and Simon and Piggy, or rationality, are almost helpless in his presence. Simon, though, in a book filled with evil, is a symbol of vision and salvation. He is the one to see the evil as it truly exists, in the hearts of all humanity. When he tries to tell the others of this truth, however, he is killed, much like Christ was trying to bring salvation to the ignorant. Simon being there gives us hope; the truth is available to those who seek it. In the book, Jack and his hunters become so evil that they end up killing two boys while on the island. Man’s tendencies towards evil in The Lord of the Flies are also compared to the book of Genesis in the Bible. Nature, beauty, and childhood can all be corrupted by the darkness within humankind. The ending of this truly dark and evil story tells readers how Golding feels about evil within society and where he thinks humanity is headed. Since the summer of my senior year in high school, I was confused about the meaning of learning. What do I want to learn, and what could I do with my bachelor degree? So far, it has been two years. Although Descartes existed during the time of the Renaissance, his theory that the eyes were significant to stimulating other parts of the body, such as the fingers, arms and legs was brilliant. My name is Adetoun Oyewole – I am currently studying HND Hospitality Management. The purpose of this assignment is to bring out my personal development skills; which will lead me to professional development. This assignment will also enable me to focus on my personal skills that will lead me to success.
Families today just do not seem to spend time with each other. The mother and father both have jobs and tend to not be home for the children after school therefore causing more independence among each member of the family. Children that have more independence make mistakes on their own without being warned about them. Independent children have no guidance and get out of hand because there is not a strong boss type figure around most of the time to help distinguish the difference between right and wrong. Eating dinner as a family is a major tradition that has been forgotten as the years have gone by and caused more separation among the family. A family 50 years ago that did not eat dinner together would be a strange one but today it seems to be of the norm. Once again, the job affects this aspect of the family as well. People are just too busy at work or too tired to even participate in dinner at home anymore. Either families just do not have time for each other anymore or they just are not together due to divorce.
Conclusions This research study explored the attitudes and self-development, including the self-esteem and self-identity in nine adolescent augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) users. The participants discussed different variables which would influence their self-esteem, attitudes and self-development. Common variables among the study’s participants included: social and emotional support, victimization and bullying, positive peer-relationships, type of AAC device used, listener reactions and responses, barriers to participation, and attitudinal and physical barriers. These variables, the clinical implications, study limitations, and suggestions for future research will be discussed in the sections that follow. Although it is obvious that my ability to form and maintain attachments was affected, it is not so obvious to determine the long-term effects. Because early experience does not impact development in a linear way (Sroufe et al., 1999) both history and present circumstances are important (Sroufe, 2005). In fact, Bowlby’s model emphasises that behaviour is a function of an individual’s entire history; therefore change does not erase early experience (Bowlby, 1973). This means that even after significant change, there is a tendency for individuals to return to previous developmental trajectories (Bowlby, 1973). As such, the disruption to my development was merely that, a disruption, and through experience, I have learnt to form attachments again, therefore my development has returned to an adequate stage.
