it reflects who I am, and I feel comfortable when I assist them in what they need. This personality is as same as my father's personality which I inherit it from him. Both of those personality defined me because it reflects my passion, and I enjoy being a realistic person. Furthermore, being social help me with being nurse which is my future job.
Many psychological studies have been carried out over the years in the topic of personality, in aiming to grasp the type of factors that are involved in bestowing us the personalities that we hold. Most people will have probably come across various personality tests at some stage or another, which ask you lots of questions and then analyze your results in trying to categorize what kind of personality you've got.
Each person has a unique personality that defined who they are in a certain way. Although as humans we all have the same human traits. As human our personality trait is different in so many ways such as, no two people are alike or share the same experience of life. However, personality is the state of expressing you are or your behaviors. Also, personality is something that people will always take with them because it affects their feeling, thinking, and behaviors. Personality help a person deal with everyday challenges that they face in life.
The text defines personality as “an individual’s unique constellation of consistent behavioral traits.” (Weiten, W., Dunn, D., & Hammer, E. Y., p. 31) Personality is indeed unique. Every intelligent species has a personality and, much like snowflakes, no two personalities are completely alike. However, we have found ways to breakdown personalities into certain categories with The Five-Factor Model of Personality. With this model, Robert McCrae and Paul Costa found a simple way to categorize personalities through descriptions of certain behaviors such as extraversion, neuroticism, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. (Weiten, W., Dunn, D., & Hammer, E. Y., p. 32) Individuals fall into each category to some degree. For example, extraversion is the broad way of describing personality traits such as outgoing, sociable, and friendly. Everyone has these extravert traits, but for some this trait is more prevalent than it is for others.
If you ask someone to define personality, you’d probably get many different answers. Like the answers you’d receive, our personality is also very vast. Everyone has a unique personality. Meaning the characteristics and qualities of oneself are different from person to person. Some argue that personalities are passed down from parent to child, but when you analyze both child and parent, you will notice differences between the two, proving that a person’s personality is unique to themselves. On the other hand, when you look at personality from a macro point of view, you will start to notice what are called personality traits. Evidence is accumulating which
I have always been quite shy in personality, but over the years with support of my family and good friends I have overcome my shyness and can now confidently say that I feel comfortable to face a challenge. I believe I have grown in confidence and feel I am a sociable person, who is easily approachable and a good listener, I always try to be available and supportive for my friends and family when they need me.
Personality is a set of behaviors, attitudes, feelings, and ways of thinking. Personality characterizes us and makes us unique and unlike anyone else. I would describe myself as an extrovert, meaning that I am energized by other people and things. I enjoy being around others as it motivates me and helps me improve more as a human being. I also gather my information primarily by trusting and relying on concrete information. Moreover, I make my decisions based on principles or facts. My approach to most of the things in life is extremely flexible because I do not like having a strict schedule that I am forced to follow. Additionally, I tend to adapt instead of stay structured and organized.
What is personality? Are humans born with a personality or does it develop over time through personal experience? Each person has unique characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that stay consistent over time and across situations. Over the years, psychologists have approached the study of personality in many ways. Some psychologists set out to understand how personality develops, while others set out to understand why there are differences in personality. Humans are complex beings, changing in different situations and with different people, which makes personality too complex to easily be described. However, psychologists focus on studying the internal and external aspects of a person’s character that influence
Are you shy? 1 out of 3 people will answer 'yes' to this question (Carducci, Zimbardo). According to the magazine Psychology Today, shyness is "awkwardness or apprehension some people feel when approaching or being approached by other people". Over the past 40 years, the percentage of people who consider themselves shy has risen to nearly 50% (Henderson). The significant number of shy people has sparked many researchers to find out what causes this so-called symptom. After numerous experiments and researches, it is accepted that there are several factors that can lead to shyness. Moreover, there are many ways to deal with this symptom. Shyness is caused by both social and innate factors; however, there are several ways to overcome it.
There are six types of theory for personality. The first one is trait theory and this is by Eysenck, 1947. Eysenck believed that personality is genetically based so people were born with their own personality and it doesn’t change. He says that personality is shaped by a part of the mid brain called the reticular activating system. He says that our personality is shaped by the activity and arousal of parts of our nervous system network so we can’t help being shy or disagreeable. Trait means you have a relatively stable and enduring tendency to behave in a particular way. Eysenck theory is based on
Personality is a characteristic that plays a major role in one’s individuality. “One has many parts that make up his personality” (Kramer 27). One may show these parts in different ways. There are a variety of personalities that one can have. If one wants others to see him as fun, he must have a fun and joyful personality. If one has an outgoing personality, one may have many friends and have a very social life. Many times a person can be judged by his personality. One’s personality may vary from day to day. One should always try to express the most unique personality possible.
This disorder is also more common than one might think, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America says that “about 15 million American adults have social anxiety disorder (ADAA, 2010-14).” This means that 15 million American adults are suffering from extreme anxiety (both mentally and physically) from daily activities. Social anxiety however is something that many people no do not know about and pass as shyness. This can be especially hard for people brought up in a western culture society; aggression, socialization and communication are very important in the job field and are promoted as key characteristics to moving up in society. But in a very well-known American survey “The 14 worst human fears: of 3,000 people surveyed” public speaking was ranked as number one with 41% rating. This outranked death, heights, and financial problems (TMvision). So how easy is it for most people to “buck up” from their shyness and show their key characteristics as society pressures people to? According to this survey, not very easy at all; for some people with social anxiety (without treatment) it can be something that is never achie...
I believe that my behavior varies based upon the situation I am placed into. If I am without familiar people in an unfamiliar location or situation where I am forced to speak to others, I will become increasingly nervous or anxious. Therefore, before properly becoming friends with me others may view me as simply quiet or rude because of my lack of words in certain situations. However, when people are genuinely kind and make me feel comfortable around them I tend to somewhat open up. Excluding my introversion in instances where I do not know anyone, I can surprisingly be relaxed and outgoing. When I’m participating in group activates with my friends we all instantly forget I’m even referred to as “the shy one” of the
I am friendly, hardworking, extroverted, and most of all I can easily connect with people. I don’t have a problem connecting with people and all the different personalities. The connection is my one way of showing them that I care and I hear them. Nadine Lueras-Tramma (2011) state that, “it feels good to feel connected to other people.” In fact, it is easy for me to talk to people if I feel like there is a connection, in that, it's not difficult for me to make conversation. When I was in school, I loved doing group tasks and participating in panel discussions. Because of my childhood experience and how my parents responded to my gestures immediately and in a consistent manner, which suggests why I’ve grown up as an extroverted, outgoing and family oriented
The concept of personality is not easy to define. Researchers give examples or perceptions to define the personality; however, there are different theories that explain personality. Personality is what makes each person unique and individual and each person has different patterns of behavior, attitudes, and traits that combined are personality. There are biological and environmental aspects of life the shape the development of personality and differing perceptions of experiences contribute to differences between people. There are many different theories and views of personality; however, regardless of the differing viewpoints it agrees that personality is unique and no two individuals are the same (Feist & Feist, 2009).
