Success is defined differently amongst everyone due to people having different interpretations of what it means to be successful. In general, success means the accomplishment of a purposeful goal. However, this goal can be anything to anyone, hence the difficulty of one true definition of success. My personal definition of success includes the meaning that an individual is pleased with their career, their lifestyle, and their contribution to society. That being said, I recently had the pleasure to interview someone who is successful in my eyes. I met my interviewee while attending my younger sister’s school open house. At the open house, I had the opportunity to meet and converse with all of my sister’s teachers, however, the only one that caught my attention was Ms. C. She is a high school teacher who has taught 10th-grade geometry for the past 5 years but has taught other grade levels for the past 11 years. Ms. C further fits my definition of success by exemplifying enjoyment in …show more content…
They must take pride and pleasure in their career, be completely at ease and comfortable with their lifestyle, and should illustrate some sense of compassion for contributing back to society. Due to all these characteristics, Ms. C is, without a doubt, an extremely successful person. As I myself want to become a mathematics teacher for high school students, I sincerely view Ms. C as a wonderful mentor who I aspire to be like. Furthermore, anyone who wants to become successful should consider Ms. C’s ideals because it can surely lead for anyone to live a successful life easily by it illustrating the broader definition of success. As recalled, success is defined as the achievement of goals and Ms. C clearly represented multiple accomplishments towards goals in her life. Although all goals are different for everyone, Ms. C’s goals accomplished are significant ones that many people should aim to
My philosophy of success, is me growing into the person I want to become and being comfortable with the choices I decide to make in life. Success is not something I can achieve overnight, it’s something I must plan for then proceed to working hard for it as well. Without hard work, there isn’t anything successful about the job I want to get done or the job I wish to get done. Doing anything without hard work and dedication, and expecting the best outcome is not success; it’s mediocrity. Being mediocre/ will only allow me or anyone else to have a ‘Victim’s Mindset.’
Over thousands of years people have been driven by success, but what is success? Success to me is the ability to perform at your highest level in the path in life that you take. I believe that if you are not driven to be the very best at the things you do then it is not a calling. There are plenty of opportunities in life and you should take everyone you get. Success is a word that is on a broad spectrum, there is no single definition to the word. I define what success is for me. There is no set image of success, success is also constantly changing. The word success means achieving what I want to do in life, and to prosper in the situations my life has put me in.
Success, it can be interpreted in many ways to different people. According to Google success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, for me success is that amazing feeling you obtain when you know you’ve completed something you’ve been working so hard for. Self-esteem is the main key to reaching success and is necessary to even get started on your way to triumph. Self-esteem is important because it develops problem-solving skills, makes someone feel confident enough to do anything, and also because it can make someone feel insecure enough to stop them from succeeding.
...ents in their academic accomplishments. Recognizing successes of students and teachers and celebrating the positives brings back school pride and willingness to make a difference (Shore, 1996).
Successful is a simple word, however, the meaning of this word changes quite often. Each person has a different definition of success and that definition can change depending on the situation. Bob Dylan once wrote, “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.” This a very broad definition of success and should not be used. The definition of success should be “the pursued goals have been adequately accomplished.”
Success is a term used by almost every individual person on this green and blue planet that we call Earth. Whether it is parents, college professors, teachers, bosses, co-workers, and inspirational speakers, they all apply this word to everyday life, however what does it truly mean? Success is a noun that, by definition, stands for “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” Although this is the official definition, society has a different definition for the phrase success. Society has defined the phrase success as being wealthy, having quite a few material items, having a stable well-paying job, and a healthy family as a side bonus. There are members of society
I believe that hard work is the real treasure of a person because without hard work we cannot achieve our dreams and goals in life. No one can achieve success without doing hard work. It starts when we stop looking for alternatives or shortcuts towards success. We need to remember that there are no short cuts to success. Hard work, complimented with an intense desire to struggle and to achieve success is the only sure way of reaching success that you have always wanted. Hard work is one of the secret for us to be successful in life. Laziness and sluggishness makes one’s life a curse and only hard work can make your life a blessing. We cannot work hard if we don’t have goals. The meaning of goal according to Wikipedia is a desired result of a
“To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children… to leave the world a bit better, this is to have succeeded” (Stanley, 1904). This is the definition of success according to Bessie Anderson Stanley, the grandmother of the famous poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson. As stated by Stanley, success is present in those who have loved, laughed, and lived a life full of enthusiasm and optimism. Success exists in those who have participated in the creation of life, whether it is bearing children or simply growing a garden. Living a lifestyle that is satisfying to not only you, but those around you as well, is imperative to living a life filled with success, at least when it comes to Bessie Anderson Stanley.
The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. It is about truly not giving up, reaching your full potential, and self-fulfillment.
I believe success means I’ve achieved my goals and that I am pleased with my accomplishments. Self- motivation and persistence allowed me to rise above those who told me I was destined for failure. During my younger ages, we fell on hard times, therefore moving to Texas was an opportunity for me. I am proud of myself for maintaining a B+ gpa, creating new friends and adapting to Texas. Success is both a goal and a journey, that when I reach my ambition, I push myself higher and harder, striving for greatness.
Is there someone you know that is wealthy and prominent? Do they demonstrate the characteristics of a successful person in today’s society? Media today has effectively convinced our society into accepting an untrue, even possibly hazardous definition of success. Even though Webster’s dictionary defines success as “achieving wealth, respect, and fame,” the definition of success is different for everyone. Society wants us to accept that having money, having big house, and owning multiple cars is the key to happiness, and henceforth, success. This is a lie; success is not having a large amount of money nor does it have to deal with fame.
come to one 's mind. All I thought as a little girl was what to play with next. Of course school
Pavleen Dhami Mrs. Nickerson Pre-AP English II-3 21 March 2018 What is success? Everyone defines success in a different way. Some may say that being successful means making a lot of money, or being famous. I think that success is finding internal happiness at what you do.
Success takes many different definitions. People have different interpretations of what success really means. For me is as simple as: living well and laughing often. The idea of living well is a very broad statement. Living well, in my opinion is getting success in personal, social and professional life. If I can achieve all of these three levels of success, I believe that I have lived well.
Success is something we all wish to achieve and even though we have different definitions of success, we all want to success in different aspects of our lives. For some success, success is attaining an education, others it's getting a good job, for others it's being wealthy, and others to start and own a business while for others it's having a family of our own and seeing our children prosper. We all have different metrics of measuring success and we all have different goals, but it is part of human instinct to want success, to want to succeed in everything we do no matter how small or big. Success gives us a feeling of development and growth, a sense of gratification that we are no longer where we used to be, but rather
