Payton and I worked well together while coming up with our leading exercise. Both of us came up with various exercises that could have been conducted in class and had no problem agreeing on one. Then, we discussed what our objectives for our exercise should be, coming up with similar intentions. The group process was smooth and easily conducted between Payton and me with few, if any, complications. While regulating the exercise to the class no complications occurred. Both Payton and I practiced and came up with various roles that we would play out during the implementation. For example, I would be responsible for leading the discussion at the end of our exercise, while Payton would explain the rules and objectives of the exercise. I believe

I want to become an athletic trainer after high school. An athletic trainer helps athletes take care of their body. I've been an athlete my entire life. I have also been hurt many times and I know the importance of an athletic trainer. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered and the duties for a particular career when making this decision.
Athletic Trainers play a crucial part in today’s professional sports. They also help on lower levels of sports in high school, and college level teams. The job of an athletic trainer is simple yet very important, they are charged with treating, and preventing injuries. A trainer does this by developing therapies to reduce pain, and improve mobility (“Athletic Trainer Salaries”). They have to stand for long periods of time, work well with athletes of different sizes, move or carry equipment around, good mobility and communication skills to give instructions (“Athletic Trainer, Healthcare Program”). I wanted to start telling the story of our experience by sharing the feelings I brought into this exercise. A few years ago I underwent an experience of coaching through several sessions that left me this taste in the mouth that the coaching as a tool to develop others is not very effective. I have not taken the time to deeply analyze what went wrong but in general if I had to choose to do it again I think I would choose another methodology to foster change. Its objective in general is to assist in building behavioral skills, but in my opinion to really look for a long lasting change you need to give a deeper understanding to the lack of a certain skills, strongly reflect on the variables linked to it as could be the emotions, values and motivations that conduce you towards a behavior different that that one desired. Personally, I enjoy seeking information that allows me to jump beyond the facts, and staying on the behavioral side of the reality limits my passion for inspiration and insight.
Through the process of this class I have been able to reflect and analyze how I am as a leader as well as a co-leader in a group setting. I believe throughout this process of being part of a group as a member and leader has help me further define the roles that I will play in group counseling in the future. The evolution that I am seeing are an abundance of growth in areas that I thought I was already comfortable in such as being an active listener and co-leading. I see that there are more to becoming a powerful leader and facilitator. There are various aspects of becoming a well rounded group leader as learning the skills to endure especially building your endurance. Also, being able to take risks, being competent and confidence in your ability to lead a group of any sorts. Moreover, I have found that my communication style has shifted especially learning about the process in which you communicate your informal introduction as well as the lingo that is being used as a counselor. Also, the way in which we approach each member of
It also allows students to understand the material better. In addition to that it is beneficial because it helped all of us think about the essay topics and a lot of us agreed that we wanted to do the first question. However, what I thought was the most beneficial part about this activity was listening to one another. Listening to one another allows one to learn more. It can also contribute to listening skills for example in lectures. The only thing that does not work for this activity is if students do not do the reading. It makes it hard for the facilitator because not everyone participates and some students feel like they are lost. What would have been good would be to discuss these questions as a class after the activity. This would allow more opinions to be made and more debates. Overall, the group leader assignment is a good use of time and the smaller groups allow students to talk more. It is a good activity because it will prepare not just me, but the other students for the exam, the essay and any other
After a review of my performance in the assigned group, I have learned a great deal about myself and behavior in the team-setting situation. This is not the first experience in a team setting. Previous team setting experiences were conducted in sporting and recreational environments rather than academics. While the setting and the environments were indeed different, there were many commonalities and correlations between the team settings I previously experienced and the current academic team-setting experience for this academic course project. One of the traits that I had exhibited pertained to being co-operative.
When it comes to working together, I would make sure that everyone knows that they have an equal say and that their opinions matter. It is important that you do not just say it's your way, I think it is important that all teachers have
Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
My internship spends as a football coach has really been an eye-opener for me; especially sacrificing at least 15 hours per week of commitment. Being a football coach showed me that you need to be at nearly every practice, rain or shine, sick or healthy, job or no job. The biggest thing as a high school coach and teaching as well estimate between 30-35 hours a week. For college, as a full-time coach, think somewhere between 60-80 hours a week. I chose this lifestyle because I wanted to work in a field which I’ll love to make progression in. Moreover, coaching sports period gives me thrill to help another student-athlete excel at another level. This internship being an assistant football coach was an offer to help out as an unpaid assistant
In order to gain some purpose while working in a group, I know it can be challenging task to do because every group member is required to agree and cooperate. I am privileged to become a part of a group and completed our task successfully. Our group consists of 5 members and we experienced the stages of group development along with which different roles being considered. Our group formed with the common interest of competing and representing ourselves as competent and knowledgeable. The storming phase involved a trial being held to determine the capabilities of each other and positions were found to be disputed due to which we voted on leader of team. In the norming stage, roles of every group member have been stated and identified with the
