Recommended: Personality traits
Personality is defined in terms of the ways how people think, feel, and behave Over time, my life has changed in number of ways. In the same breadth, I have retained a number of life aspects over the years. My association with people, especially at the first sight, has not been easy because of emotions and the feelings I sometimes have. I have also developed in my openness, extraversion and the ability to agree to my personality. In acquisition of work experience, I have become more open to new skills, ideas and knowledge. My interaction with people has also seen me become more extraverted. In helping others during their times of need, I have improved on my level of agreeableness. I have also changed my perception about people and how I look at them in terms of personality, Character and conduct. I have, similarly, retained my conscientiousness and neuroticism. This has been because, perhaps, I have been very careful with my morality and the need for personal peace. I have also retained my feelings and attachments towards people and different aspects of life. I have the same initial feelings and attachments to people, particularly, friends and relatives. Nature and nurture, evidently, have played a significance role in changing my life. Nature has enabled me to see the world of reality and escape the imagination of a …show more content…
It is possible that I erroneously used these implicit memories to documents traits that, perhaps had been transformed for a long while. The use of distorted information can affect the analysis of the changes. Moreover, distorted information could result to misinformation effect hence confirmation of bias (Reisberg & Hertel, 2004). Misinformation effect may subsequently lead me distortedly recall events that never existed or misrepresent the events that actually happened. Bias, here, can be confirmed whenever a person only remembers things that favor them or events that they
Many psychologists throughout many years present theoretical approaches in an attempt to understand personality. Hans Eysenck’s approach of personality differed from that of Sigmund Freud and his psychoanalytical theory of personality. Eysenck’s theory of personality relies on the scientific basis of biology in explaining human personality. Although Freud’s theories are intriguing to an open mind, Eysenck’s approach made measurable scientific sense. He relied on the use of trait and factor analysis, which is a statistical method. Freud relied on faith and his personal opinions based on observational research to reach the assumptions that set forth his theories (Feist & Feist, 2009). Eysenck and Freud did not agree on anything about understanding how and why the mind operates the way, it does.
Over time, some aspects of personality change, whereas others remain stable. For example according to Costa and McCrae 's study on adult personality, in early adulthood, neuroticism decreases, openness to experience increases and in middle adulthood agreeableness increases.
...t shown physically, it plays a much bigger role. However, nature does not overpower the role of nurture, which is essential in establishing our behavior. Our genes and our experiences make us the people we are today. Both nature and nurture interact in a way that makes us unique. They are designed for each other. Nurture cannot work without nature, and nature cannot thrive without nurture.
In conclusion reading these books from Plato, Freud and Tzu on nature versus nurture was very intriguing although it does leave one especially me pondering what life would be like if we lived on nature. But at the same time the reasons for wondering reasonably or realizing the reality of how it would be done is all because of nurture. Through nurture I’ve had time to rationalize and mature as one person.

I found the results of my self-assessments to be a very insightful and accurate description of myself. The results of the learning styles test and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II are very valuable for examining my personality traits and learning style and making improvements as needed.

In the last 5 weeks, we have learned about personalities, learning styles, temperaments, and emotional intelligence. For the learning styles, we took a personality test only to find out what kind of personality trait we have. Temperaments are the way we learn how we want to handle things in life. Emotional intelligence is how we learn to read each other, and learning how and when to say something to diffuse a confrontation. There are four different kinds of temperament’s. There is analyzers, supporters, creators, and directors (Bethel University, 2006). Analyzers like for things to be organized and dedicated to their work. Dedication is a great attribute for an analyzer. Supporters take things
Personality is a branch of scientific discipline that studies temperament and its variation among people. It is a dynamic and a set of characteristics possessed by their atmosphere, cognitions, emotions, motivations and behaviours in various things. Personality conjointly refers to the pattern of thoughts, feelings, social adjustments and behaviour consistently exhibited over time that powerfully influences one’s exceptions, self-perceptions, values and attitudes. It also predicts human reactions to different folks, problems and stress.
As a college student I am faced with many situations throughout my daily life, while I believed I maintain a certain consistent personality through the process of this paper I was able to identify how my personality differed or stayed the same based on situations I was in. Through the course of this study, I was able to identify when five of what I feel are my most prominent personality traits were most prevalent and how they changed depending on the situation. The five personality traits I chose were humorous, imaginative, sarcastic, optimistic, and helpful. The situations I choose to look at were me in class, at work, with a friend, with family, and when I was alone studying.
What is my personality? How do we develop our individual personalities? Was I born with a preset personality? And if so can my personality be changed well into adulthood? These are questions I asked myself, while I gather my thoughts as to what my personal theory of personality is. So far in my quest of self discovery and introspection, I can see that individual personality can be altered and is very adaptive throughout life. I see this in the ways that may individuals go into counseling and with time and true determination are able to move at times from unstable personality condition into healthier state of being. I truly believe that many aspects of theories already developed can be used to explain the development of personalities. Some of the most important theories that impact the development of my personality theory are the biological, attachment, and cognitive theories.
Personality is the study of an individual’s unique and relatively stable patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving over time and across situations and it is what distinguishes one individual from another. In the past changes in personality were thought to have only occurred in the developmental stages of childhood and solidifies in adolescence. After the teenage years it was thought to be set like plaster or the change seen to be inconsequential or absent( Srivastava, John, Gosling, and Potter, 2003). However, recent studies have suggested that changes in personality traits continue to occur throughout an individual’s lifespan due to multiple reasons.
Personality takes many shapes and forms and is affected by many factors. My understanding of personality is simply a genetic and environmentally determined set of psychological traits that influence our reactions in the world around us. Genetic because our parents possess a certain set of psychological personality traits that we tend to have in common with them so therefore in my opinion there are heritable personality traits. Personality is environmental because we each have our own separate experiences in the world and these experiences help form our unique personality. Neo-Freudians such as Jung have given us a wide array of ideas of how they believe personality is developed and formatted. Jung in particular has a very interesting
The concept of personality has numerous definitions (Fatahi, Moradi, & Kashani-Vahid, 2016). Schultz and Schultz (2009), define personality in its broad sense as the manner of an individual’s behaviour in different situations. This essay explores the nature of personality, with the intention of highlighting its flexibility. The results of numerous empirical research studies are examined in order to investigate if, and how personality changes over time. It will be argued that an individual’s personality has the ability to change throughout their life.
One way my personality has changed in 5 years was my confidence, I can look at myself in the mirror and not notice the “flaws” in front of me, I used to pick out everything that I thought was wrong with me and try to fix it. I couldn’t care less about what other people think about me and I am able to wear what makes me feel comfortable with confidence. I will now wear sweat pants to class or out in public, if I please, and not feel afraid to look messy or gross. I had many friends in middle school but a lot of them weren 't true friends, we would all talk about each other and do cruel things to each other. I now have a few close friends and we all treat each other with love and kindness. I think of my friends and family more than myself, I make
