When creating a working definition of a sustainable global environment there is a short definition and a long definition. The short of definition of a sustainable global environment is an environment in which all living things can co-exist together while having their essential needs to sustain life met. This definition, while ideal, is probably not realistic due to the fact that humans in many cases are not simply satisfied with living with only the essential needs that sustain life. That leads to the more realistic but complex definition of a sustainable global environment. This definition focuses on sustainability, stewardship, science, political policy and globalization. Sustainability focuses on not depleting needed resources. Stewardship is the moral framework in which our public and private actions are made. The science aspect of a sustainable global environment is the information that decisions, including mandated policy, are made on. The final aspect is globalization, which refers to the interconnectedness humans and the environment share with each other on a global level. Regardless of the definition that is used, the goal is the same, sustaining a high quality of life for all creatures while not exhausting the needed resources to do so.
In an effort to create a sustainable global environment a significant area of focus needs to be on the interrelationships that contribute to this goal. As with the relationships associated with globalization our actions are interconnected with one another, one nations decisions in a particular geographical area can often times impact those in another geographical areas. The same cause and effect theory applies to environmental interrelationships. An area that this can be most prevalent...

... reduce natural gas consumption. Long-term I am committed to installing new energy efficient windows to truly reduce energy consumption. To help reduce the family’s water consumption we recently installed an energy efficient washing machine that uses over 60% less water than the previous model that was installed. As an additional means in which to help conserve water I will be installing a rain barrel in the summer to water our outdoor plants. While these actions might not seem significant, they can make a significant difference. According to Energy Star, a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, if every home in America replaced just one incandescent light bulb with an Energy Star qualified CFL, in just one year it would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes. That would prevent the release of greenhouse gas emissions equal to that of about 800,000 cars.
...cle half of your household waste, you can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide annually. (Larry West, 2014) By just setting your thermostat at just 2 degrees lower in winter and 2 degrees higher in summer, you could save around 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide each year. By having every family in America switch out one regular light bulb with a CFL, it would eliminate 90 billion lbs. of greenhouse gases which is equivalent to taking 7.5 million cars off the road. For every gallon of gas you save while driving, you stop 20lbs of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. Choosing to bike or walk will not only save your wallet and the environment, but will also benefit personal health and fitness. If each individual changes at least one aspect of their lives, together we can work to end climate change and these dangerous storm cells and stop the increase in climate change.
In conclusion, the impact I personally have on the planet has surprised me. My personal ecological footprint is much larger than I expected. However, there are measures I can take to drop my current consumption rate, such as altering my recycling choices, making better purchasing decisions, and adopting the reduce, reuse, and recycle concept throughout my household. By altering my habits and consumption rate, I can affect my local community tremendously in a positive way for the planet Earth.
Sustainability is when something can be used and not be depleted, destroyed, or damaged past recovery. As we work to live sustainably, we are in effect making use of our resources in a fashion that doesn't eliminate them, and doesn't harm their source. Our resources come from the environment around us and we need to make sure that it is not harmed as we use it. According to the EPA, sustainability stems from a single principle that "Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment” (Sustainability Information). Considering this, it's obvious why we need to make sure we live sustainably and do not damage the source of our resources, our environment.
Have you ever thought how did we create this cloud of new different thoughts that is a mix of good and bad ideas from all over the world? Well, it is a result of globalization where countries’ thoughts meet and interfere. Globalization is a great word and it has many meanings and parts. In “The Climate for Change”, Albert Gore Jr. who is a former congressman, senator and forty-fifth vice president of the United States claims that everyone is responsible to protect the environment and that we should find new source of energy to save the climate. He also mentioned a five parts plan to save the climate. In “Lessons from Lost Worlds”, Jared Diamond shares a similar idea, he declares that the environmental problems like global warming, and land
Prevent dangerous climate change by phasing out fossil fuels (oil, coal, gas) and replacing them with clean renewable energy such as solar.
Climate change has been a major issue for over a decade. We’ve been encouraged to ‘do our part’ for the environment. Reducing energy using devices, changing our transportation habits and buying products locally are minor but significant ways individuals can adjust their lifestyles to help better the environmental situation. However, climate change is very much a long term problem that needs ideas enrooted in the short term. Statistics Canada reported that in 2009, the residential sector in the country consumed about 1,316.2 petajoules of energy, 739 petajoules (roughly 56%) of this was generated by a producer emitting greenhouse gases.
People can also reduce the use of fossil fuels by doing simple things for instance switching off lights and appliances when leaving the room. Walking or cycling instead of driving a car or use public transport for maybe longer journeys. Little things like this will make a big difference, making our planet a better place.
For instance, I should start consuming organic foods and increase the consumption of pre-made foods and shop at the local farmers market. This is because these foods have not travelled long before reaching me. Besides, I should increase my recycling which is one of the things that I rarely do. Furthermore, I should start using energy efficient appliances in my home.
...empts at doing our part. But what is really needed is change at national and global levels. Only by convincing leaders to create laws that improve our energy policy, and pushing companies to adopt sustainable business practices on a global level, can we see real change. (EDF - Environmental Defense Fund , 2015) We need laws, polices, and infringes…..etc. whatever it takes in order to get our CO2 emissions under control. There are plenty of ways to improve on the current state of global warming like limiting global warming pollution, utilizing renewable energy, drive smarter vehicles, or even drive less. However small the action any change in our normal day to day can still help tremendously especially when done by a large number of people. We have to remember that this is the only planet we have and global warming is a global issue that needs to be taken seriously.
You can start by changing your lights to the more efficient LED bulbs. By replacing a regular light bulb to a fluorescent one, the pollution reduction would be equivalent to removing one million cars. And if you don 't like the color of the lights, you could maybe just replace closet lights and the laundry room lights where it wouldn 't frustrate you so much. Recycling glass and aluminum is another important and relatively easy thing to do. Recycled glass reduces air pollution by about twenty percent and water pollution by about fifty percent. Every ton of glass recycled saves the equivalent of nine gallons of fuel needed to make
climate change, there are many benefits to implementing such a radical change in the energy supply
Based on this, a basic question arises: is globalisation good or bad for the environment? Once again, the impacts of globalisation can either be good or bad depending upon the region and economy. In order to respond to the challenge and promote environmental sustainability, a range of technological developments have been made (Sun & Reed, 2010). For instance, industrial waste water is normally dumped into the open reservoirs of water that result in extensive water pollution.
Sustainable development refers to not only meet the needs of contemporary people, but also not compromising the ability of future generations to meet development needs.Sustainable development and environmental protection have established contact, not the same. Environmental protection is an important aspect of sustainable development. The core of sustainable development is development, but requires strict control of the population, improve population quality and protect the environment for the conduct of economic and social development under the premise of sustainable use of resources.
Firstly, Dependency theory see that if the developing world follows the industrial model of the west, like modernisation theory suggest, then this will lead to devastating irreversible damage to the environment. This is due to the fact that the model of capitalism that has been devised by the western world is based on fuelling a lifestyle that revolves around consumption in order to maximise profits. It has been found that many transnational corporations (TNCs) act unethically in export-processing zones (EPZs), which includes producing lots of waste pollution. One real life examples of this is Coca Cola being found to use up and waste the water supply in India for their own production line. The impact of environmental damage is particularly important now as
Today talking about environmental issues lately to be like a common topic discussion until people take it for granted. However, the world facing a complex environmental problems related to each trouble that connected to one another and come out with greater impacts to the environment and humans. This is because the effects of environmental only can be seen in long term period rather than immediately result show up. Environmental issues must become one of the controversial matters in the society in order to make people know the truth what the world currently facing. There were a lot of environmental disaster happened such as climate change, global warming, various of pollutions, earthquake and etc. the rise of environmental issues begin with this urban development occur through several countries following with the technologies equip along. For sure, development will cause a huge negative impact to the environment if it deals without a care. Besides, the environment is the place in the ecosystem to hold and use in finding resources to continuously survive in this world. Thus, the finding and digging for the resources which happening extensively without preservation will not restore the surrounding similar with before. But then, the change cannot be refuse and people need to take an action to save the threaten the world and the ecosystem from being extinct. If each country has own output in causing an environmental problem, then consider the world to hold all the damage occurred. Exposing the effects of environmental issues throughout the world, make people realize the important to take care the environment.
