Have you ever just wanted to outright curse someone out for being rude and obnoxious? Well, if you’re like 99% of the population, chances are you have. Yet, in spite of all of that, there is a much better way we can react. Which in turn, helps you stay calm and in the end be the bigger person. In the book Persepolis, author Marjane Satrapi wrote, “Listen. I don't like to preach, but here's some advice. You'll meet a lot of jerks in life. If they hurt you, remember it's because they're stupid. Don't react to their cruelty. There's nothing worse than bitterness and revenge. Keep your dignity and be true to yourself”. The advice given in this quote is almost identical to what my beloved and wise father once told me. He said, I must be slow to anger, and do not repay evil with evil. Or in this situation, don’t respond to negative remarks with more negativity. My father has lived for many years and has always given advice that was very reliable. After all, everyone knows that the older the person, the more valuable their advice is. That is why I find this lesson to be so important. You can always trust the advice of someone who has experienced so much more than you. As more and more years have passed, I still find myself using it. I feel strongly about it because this is a way to live life to the fullest. Spending precious time trying to get revenge or being angry at people is a waste of time. Yes, even if they were totally in the wrong and completely obnoxious. Especially since many people try to make you feel bad on purpose. You are the one who has to take the high road and not give them the satisfaction of winning. You can’t let them get under your skin, but instead you must keep your head high and remain
