Q: How does the last panel of the novel contribute to the big idea of the novel?
A: In Persepolis, the last panel of the novel appears on page 153. This panel has one voice over, “It would have been better to just go” (153), and a very detailed image. The image shows Marji behind a glass wall staring at her mother and father walking away. Her mother has either fainted or died and her husband, Marji’s father, is carrying her away from Marji. Marji is being sent to Austria because her parents believe that Iran is not the best place for their young daughter right now. the other two panels on page 153 show Marji saying goodbye to her parents, she appears to be very scared and her parents seem worried. It brings the entire book together and contributes to the big idea of the novel. A key factor of graphic novels is that they are told from a certain perspective. If this perspective were to change the entire novel would be different. The last page would be shown from a different camera angle. For example if this was from the perspective of Marji’s mother the last frame of the novel would not exist. Visually the last frame would be completely black. The first two frames might have the camera angled from behind the parents should or so the parents are in the foreground instead of the midground. This would put them as the main focus instead of Marji. If the entire book was being told by her mother’s perspective this change would make sense, because in all of the frames Marji is the one in attention as it is her story. The second frame shows Marji upset, holding her suitcase deciding if she should look at her parents again. If it were the perspective of the mother the reader may have na understanding of what actually happened to the mother or how she ended up in her husbands arms. Changing the visual details of the last page completely changes the outcome of the story. A slight change of camera angle shows the reader a brand new perspective as

Persepolis Argumentative Essay In the memoir “Persepolis” by Marjane Satrapi we learn the effects the revolution had on the Satrapi’s family. To summarize, Marji grew up around the Islamic War. This caused her to become very curious about why people act a certain way or do things. In the story, she is constantly learning from what’s right and wrong.
With the March books being a graphic novel I believe it makes it a lot easier to read and having pictures go along with the reading, allows the reader to get a glimpse in how the author is presenting the words. The author’s content in the book is such an easy read, that even teenagers would be able to finish it without getting bored.
This style of point of view adds a new feeling while reading the novel. The reader will be looking through the eyes of someone shadowing Jennifer Government and seeing it in one style, but then on the next page, the reader will see what's happening through the eyes of someone shadowing Billy NRA. Even though the narrator may change, the story will progress. You can compare the technique to a basketball game. One moment, the person is in the audience watching the game. The next moment the person is a player on the bench. Then the person becomes a player on the court taking shots. After that, the person changes into a referee calling the game. At the end, the person becomes the coach and calls the shots of the game.

Persepolis is a graphic novel depicting the life of author Marjane Satrapi’s life throughout the Islamic revolution, starting from her childhood. At one point in the story, the Shah of Iran has left the country, and Marjane’s parents think that they will have new freedoms. Later, however, the country is bombed and fundamentalists occupy the United States embassy. After these events, Marjane is ultimately forced to leave the country without her parents to live in Europe. This was foreshadowed in arguably the most significant panel in Persepolis, the 7th panel on page 43. It features Marjane and her parents, sitting in the family’s living room, the news on a television in the background. They are discussing the fact that the Shah recently left Iran to live in Egypt. Around the panel’s frame is a serpent-like creature. In this panel, Marjane Satrapi uses the frame, and contrasting facial expressions and dialogue to show that the Shah is not the only problem in Iran, foreshadowing the unexpected events of unrest that fill the rest of the story.

The march towards developing a democratic society is often obstructed with societal unrest due to the influence of the status quo on the instruments of power. Before the rule of Solon, Athens underwent this same rule, as there was much discontent among the social classes in Athens. The society suffered financial disparity that often was the trigger for the war among the rich and poor in the society. This was a major factor that forced Solon into power to institute policies that would see a reformed Athens. By so doing, the society was looking for an avenue that would guarantee democracy and a society that is fair for everyone. The city-state of Athens was the epicenter of the revolution for the Athenian democracy during the fifth century BC. In the Athenian democracy, the electorate voted for the legislation of bills instead of a direct democracy where the electorates are tasked with electing representatives who later developed the bill. Among the first people who made significant contributions to the development of the Athenian democracy were Solon (594 BC), Cleisthenes (508/7 BC), Pericles (495 – 429 BC) and Ephialtes (462 BC). Pericles was the longest serving democratic leader who contributed much development in democracy in the city. This paper will give an account of the age of the Pericles.

Throughout the book, Persepolis, there is this constant theme involving the education system of Iran, which is that the education system revolves around whoever is in charge of the country. The two figure heads that are in charge of the country throughout the book are the shah and the Islamic regime. The younger Marjane showed how the Iranian Revolution affected her life. The Iranian Revolution was the exiling of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and its concluding substitution with an Islamic republic under the Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the revolution, supported by a mixture of leftist and Islamic organizations. The new government became more suppressive by enforcing Islamic laws into the constitution and prohibiting westerner influence of any kind.
