Percy later then meets Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, and Luke Castellan, son of Hermes. As the campers and Percy were playing capture the flag, Percy healed by water (by voices of a god) and had a glowing trident spins on top of his head. They officially knew he is Poseidon’s son.

Campers from the Camp Half-blood starts leaving, and barely any year-rounder stays. Percy had to choose to either to stay in camp for whole year or go home back with his mother, who has returned as an appreciation reward from Hades for receiving his helm back. Annabeth goes home with her father and try to reunite (they had a not-so-well relationship ever since he married a girl, now Annabeth’s stepmother). Grover went to his ultimate quest, to find Pan (God of nature, the wild, shepherds, flocks, goats, and mountain wild). When Percy decides to go home with his mom, Sally decides to turn Gabe into stone with Medusa’s head that Percy mailed to Olympus but was sent back to Percy. Percy and Sally moved into another apartment and Percy attends another private school in Manhattan.

Percy (short for Perseus) faces troubling situations that the reader can relate to and gain a deeper connection to the book. “How old was I?” I asked. “I mean. . .
Percy’s relationship with other characters reveal a lot about who he is.The feelings with his mother is that there close. Percy feelings his dad is he thinks he’s a coward and Percy doesn't like his step father. Percy's feelings with his mom is that they are both close because in the text it says “But ever since, my mom went out of her way to eat blue. She baked blue birthday cakes. She mixed blueberry smoothies. She bought blue-corn tortilla chips and brought home blue candy from the shop. This—along with keeping her maiden name, Jackson, rather than calling herself Mrs. Ugliano—was proof that she wasn't totally suckered by Gabe. She did have a rebellious streak, like me.” This shows they are close because he calls her mom and cares about

Within this novel, the main character, Percy Jackson, is depicted to fit the universal archetype of a hero on a quest. Furthermore, Poseidon, Percy's father, shows the archetype of Magi with the guidance he provides Percy without him ever meeting him. On his quest to retrieve Zeus’ lightning bolt, the character of Luke also serves as a Hermes archetype and one of joker. He shows up right when the hero is about to make a breakthrough. Clearly, the characters demonstrate an archetypal prevalence that serves to develop the novel in the mythological type. With relation to modern life, Percy Jackson serves as an archetypal character that symbolizes goodness. He is a typical quiet young teenager with the additional issues of dyslexia and ADHD. He is an only child who lives in New York with his mother and step father. As the plot unravels, we learn that Percy, in his goodness, would do anything to protect his mother from

CC has one of her assistants give Annabeth a tour of the resort while she stayed with Percy giving him a full makeover. Annabeth uses Hermes's anti-magic vitamins to protect herself from Circe's Magic and feeds the rest to the Guinea pigs in the cage. The vitamins turns Percy back to normal and the others as well. The other Guinea pigs turned out to be the crew of Blackbeard, son of Ares, who go and destroy the resort. Percy and Annabeth escape from the island on Blackbeard's ship Queen Anne's Revenge. Both of them manage to make it to Polyphemus's island where they're reunited with Clarisse and Tyson who
The first part of the hero’s journey is the departure, which Percy Jackson’s story follows. Percy’s call to adventure was defeating his math teacher, who turned out to be a Fury from the Underworld. Though this was not the first unnatural thing that had happened in Percy’s life, this was the incident that changed his life. Unfortunately, Percy did not want his life
Percy Jackson is a true hero. Imagine if you had the chance to save your mother, but put your own life at risk. When Percy was given this chance, he never even thought about his own life. When he saved the world, he didn't care if he put his own life in immense trouble. When he met his half brother, he stood up for him, not caring if no one liked him after. It is clear that there is no way that Percy Jackson can be thought of anything but a hero, which is what he truly
evil. In Perseus his antagonist was the king of the island. “The eye of the ruthless king of the island” ( pg 116, D'aulaires). Percy Jackson antagonist was Luke son of Hermes. Percy was modernized on how “Luke was Percy’s “friend” but turned out to frame Perseus for stealing the lightning bolt” ( Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief). In Perseus he fought a sea monster. “Perseus sprang into the air, dived at the monster and drove his sword deep into its throat” (pg 120, D'aulaires). Percy Jackson also had another antagonist which was his uncle Hades. “When Percy first came into the Half-blood camp, a fire rose up and told Percy that he had his mom” ( Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief). It was modernized because one of Percy’s family members took his mom. The theme good vs. evil concept they share it because they both have many enemies and Perseus kills them in either the sea or on a island, “As one of the sisters was handing the eye to another, Perseus sprang forward and snatched it.” (pg 117, D'aulaires). When Perseus got the eye he swooped down to the island where the three Gray Sisters were laying. Percy on the other hand used a car to get the
Percy Jackson is the main character in this story, who is a demi god, who mortals are after. His name is short for Perseus and his father is one of the big three gods, Poseidon. He is suffering from dyslexia and ADHD, which could be deliberately added to the character by Riordan, to show he is meant to be a hero, and not to do well in school. This shows that school is not what he is good at, and he is destined to be a hero and save people. The character Grover, who plays Percy’s best friend, parallels a Satyr who is human from the waist up and goat from the waist down and is a companion of wine God, Dionysus, who we later learn, is the camp director for Half-Blood Camp.
Kronos knocked away Percy’s sword and was about to kill him when Annabeth caught the strike on her dagger hilt. Annabeth speaks to Luke and reminds him about family. “Kronos loomed over Annabeth, his sword raised. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth. She croaked, ‘Family, Luke. You promised.’I took a painful step forward. Grover was back on his feet, over by the throne of Hera, but he seemed to be struggling to move as well. Before either of us could get anywhere close to Annabeth, Kronos staggered. He stared at the knife in Annabeth’s hand, the blood on her face. ‘Promise.’ Then he gasped like he couldn’t get air. ‘Annabeth…’ But it wasn’t the Titan’s voice. It was Luke’s.” (334) Annabeth reminded Luke of his promise of family, which brought him back. Luke then asked for Annabeth’s blade so he could stab his Achilles’ heel. Annabeth’s promise and Percy’s choice to give Luke the blade made Luke the hero and showed that no matter what, family never gives up on each
The story ¡°Wu Pao-an Ransoms His Friend¡± discloses the connection between friendship, repayment, and filial piety. Between people with high quality of humanity, there is a genuine friendship which acts as a bond. And this bond leads to repayment when there are favors to be repaid. A form of repayment is being filial.
This shows again how much responsibility being a half blood is, because now Annabeth has to live with that for the rest of her
The fact that Percy Jackson has friends is incredible. It is an unshakable fact that any friend of his within a ten-mile radius will be in a life or death situation with him by dinner, and they are not always as lucky as he is. However, that is getting ahead of ourselves. Over the course of the five-part contemporary young adult series, Percy Jackson & The Olympians, the titular character, Percy Jackson, must embrace his Greek God parentage and save Olympus with the help of his fellow demigods. The aim of this paper is to discuss his Hero’s Journey throughout the series, provide an in-depth character analysis, and draw parallels between Percy and the three classic Greek heroes of mythology: Perseus, Theseus, and Hercules.
