I attended a pep rally on January 25th. The pep rally was for the schools basketball team. Attending student sporting events and activities outside of the classroom help build a rapport between students and teachers. Building a rapport with the students is important when teaching. Having a good rapport with students is part of a teachers evaluation. If the students knows a teacher cares about them, they will work harder in class through paying attention, turning in assignments, and participating in class. An issue that many teachers face is discipline in the classroom. Teachers can show support for a student through attending sporting events. Students understand that teachers have a busy schedule, so they would appreciate the time that was
taken out just for them and their team. Teachers should support students in extracurricular activities outside of the classroom. During my internship, my students asked me to attend sporting events such as soccer games to show support for the school and for them. If there is already a good rapport established with a student, they might be encouraged to do well both on the sports field and in the classroom. I watched my students on the cheer team perform and my students on the basketball team being introduced during the pep rally. It was nice to see my students excited about the pep rally. When I am a teacher, I will try to attend some sporting events to show my support to the school and my students. Through attending these events I hope to build a better rapport with students.
Peaceful resistance to laws positively impact a free society because if there isn't, how will people hear the voices of the oppressed and mistreated? Peaceful resistance comes a long way in trying to advance the rights and customs of the oppressed today. For example, The Salt March of 1930 was based on the Salt Act of 1882, which excluded the people the India from producing or getting salt, only British officials. Mahatma Gandhi was the leader of this protest. According to an article by time.com, it says that "The protest continued until Gandhi was granted bargaining rights at a negotiation in London. India didn’t see freedom until 1947, but the salt satyagraha (his brand of civil disobedience) established Gandhi as a force to be reckoned with and set a powerful precedent for future nonviolent protestors, including Martin Luther King Jr.(Sarah Begley,2015)" This means the salt march was a start for India's independence. According to Sheed, “Schools and colleges also teach something by their very natures, which is that you are now playing for a whole community and not just yourself” (498). Typically, what Sheed is saying is that sports have brought peers, schools, students, and even communities together to share and engage in one thing they love, sports. The people that are not even engaged in the physical aspect of sports are still brought together. They are able to cherish their favorite teams and show pride as their team endures the road to glory.

I have been involved in many activities throughout high school that have shaped me into the person I am today. These activities have exposed me to an immense group of different and diverse people. I’ve played hockey since age three, it is more than just a game. It is not only about playing hockey, it is about learning life skills that I will carry with me throughout the rest of my life. I have learned how to work as a team member no matter if things are going well or if they are not. You also build bonds between teammates throughout the years and make memories that will never be forgotten. After being in the school system for years they learn how to get students excited and ready to go compete. The faculty is ready to support and help any student when they need it, whether it’s in the classroom, during spirit week, or on the grounds were they play for school pride the staff at Worland High School are the best way to get motivated for a game. Throughout the years they are able to attend plenty of practices and learn how to support kids in ways to get the most out of them. Saying quotes, speeches, high-fives, and many other things are ways to put a smile on their face and show the players that they are supported by faculty members support what athletes enjoy. Some of the mentors are so great at this attribute and make people feel invincible. When athletes are treated in such a great manner as which they treat them, they feel as if anything is reachable with all resources they have made available. After being equipped with all this support the adults give everyone there is nothing no one can accomplish.
This helped the girls learn more because they would listen to the teachings so they could play the game. In addition to standing at the booth, I got to help set up all of the activities and clean up at the end. This helped my organization skills and my ability to listen to simple
Stanley Milgram’s Lost Letter experiment was far less controversial than his experiment on obedience to authority for which he is widely known and criticized. The lost letter technique was developed while Milgram was an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Yale University and was first described in Public Opinion Quarterly in Fall 1965. The study was not filled with interviews and questionnaires, but was “one that would measure attitudes without people’s knowledge, through their actions instead of their words” Milgram (1977, p. 336). The first study consisted of four sets of letters, which were addressed and stamped but had not been mailed.
In 1973, Augusto Pinochet, Commander in Chief of the Chilean army, became the dictator of Chile, South America. With Pinochet’s 17-year military rule, came a number of constitutional and economic reforms allegedly implemented in order to stabilize the economy of Chile; this was done through the privatization of state controlled agencies, including the education system. Over the years, the quality of education in Chile dramatically decreased due to an overall increase in the number of private universities, as well as, lack of investment and insufficient funding; Chile’s per student spending allowance is only $2,694 compared to the average of $7,525. The owners of Chile’s for profit universities set fees arbitrarily and rarely reinvest the profits back into the institutions; the misappropriation of school funding has had detrimental effects on the education system due to inaccessibility and the lack of a competent and capable teaching staff employed. A majority of Chilean citizens cannot afford to attend private universities and only 40% of Chilean students qualify for a free education. Often students must choose between being inundated for decades by inflated student loans, or forgo an education altogether and go directly into the labor force. Students who risk massive financial debt to attend privatized universities and training schools often graduate without the skills necessary to be successful in the job market. Although, a new government was installed in 1993, the Pinochet era constitution and economic policies are still in place. This system disproportionately favors the wealthy and exacerbates economic inequalities between Chileans. (Slater, 2012)
Kids wanting to come to school will help them get better grades. Also students wanting to come to school could help with attendance overall for the school. Having a soccer team does require more driving for their parents which requires more time during their day, but the kids could stay after school and could bring snacks or even better the school could provide snack for the students. Staying after school is good for parents who work late in the day. Instead of the parents worrying about getting afterschool care for their children and leaving them with people they don’t really know or even might not trust, parents could sign them up for the after school soccer program where they know that their kids are safe and with staff and coaches at the
Both of the students we interviewed either go with a group of friends or would prefer to go with a large group to share the experience with. Many students today have what is known to the millennial generation as FOMO, or fear of missing out. This means if a lot students are going to Red Sox games it will cause the friends of those students to also want to go to the games to be around a large group of their friends, and thus to not be missing out. When there are less kids, there is a greater opportunity for kids to be involved. They can be in several sports, performing arts, or any group they desire. I was involved in volleyball, football managing, basketball, track, cheerleading, softball, choir, and student council. I was always busy with projects or practices “promotes an overall feeling of unity and social solidarity (Schaefer 2016:18). Activities and “sports serve as a safety value for other participants and spectators, who are allowed to shed tension and aggressive energy in a socially acceptable way” (Schaefer 2016:18). At big schools, not every kids has a chance to be involved and so they have to get their anger out some other way, which can lead to bad things. Since I have been involved in many activities and had ways to relieve my anger I do not need another way; therefore, I have not gotten into bad situations. I am satisfied that I haven’t missed out on an activity that I have wanted to do because of my school. Sadly, this does not happen in all schools. Many large schools do not give the students the same chances because there is more competition. At these schools, kids have to compete to be on an extracurricular team. They really have to specialize in the organization or else they do not have the opportunity to be a part of the activity. Many have to specialize in this extracurricular activity

Throughout high school I tried to be involved in numerous activities, not because of how they would look on college applications, but because I was passionate about what they did or what they stood for. Cheerleading has always been the activity I’ve held closest to my heart because it has given me a more positive outlook on life and has helped me to develop essential characteristic traits. As a captain, the most meaningful thing I can do is give my squad that same feeling of accomplishment and belonging. It is because of this that I accepted a coaching position at my local elementary school without hesitation. Looking back, I could have never guessed the impact it would have on my life. Seeing the excitement on the girl’s faces when I walked into practice is unlike anything I could put into words. Knowing that those young girls looked up to me is something I will never forget.
Some kids don't always have the best work ethic, and these extracurricular activities can improve these ethics. For example, Most sports teams require signed forms for grades, in order to have the player to continue their time playing on their team. Most players enjoy the sport they play, and will improve their grades to stay on the team. From my experience in students council I was expected to keep my grades at an A-B average, which is the same for most clubs and after school activities. These groups can also teach very valuable learning strategies, to learn a sport of activity you are expected to listen and reform to the expectations, and by doing so, it teaches kids how to develop needed learning skills. In most activities you work in a group of people and you are typically expected contribute to your group in these activities. These activities instill in kids how to work with others without confrontation and intention. Work ethic is something people need in life, and these activities demonstrate good work ethic onto our schools
