Dear "Bilal", Hello "Bilal", I'm writing to you about the Peer Tutoring class that is offered in our school. I believe that the course could offer you an opportunity to a) develop and learn leadership skills, b) bond with students that you may not necessarily interact with otherwise, and c) receive a review of topics from a course you've already taken. First of all, the Peer Tutoring course allows for students like us to develop our leadership skills. Skills like patience, organization, responsibility, communication, and positivity. For example, patience is a very useful skill which is developed during one's time as a Peer Tutor. Throughout the semester, many students are asking you for help on questions. Due to the nature of humans, some people grasp how to do the question quicker than others; because of this, you have to be patient with students when they are having a harder time grasping certain concepts. For example, the class I Peer Tutor consists of friends, international students, and grade 10 students. A fair number of students in the class are friends of mine and people I interact with on a regular basis. However, there is also a good chunk of students that I have little interaction with besides the class, most notably international students and grade 10 students. I usually have very little interaction with international students but with the addition of a Peer Tutoring class in my time schedule, I am able to talk with and get to know them. Furthermore, I am able to talk to the grade 10 students who are taking the course. As a grade 11 student, I usually don't share any class or am in close proximity to grade 10s apart from Peer Tutoring. If it wasn't for Peer Tutoring, I wouldn't be able to meet and talk with the wide array of students that make up my Peer Tutor

Rather than interacting with other children their age, most of their time is spent with their parents or an adult tutor. Forming close friendships and socializing with other children is vital for the development of your child’s social skills and overall emotional health, according to Liza Blau, Everyday Life Magazine. While attending public school, students have everyday interactions with adults and most importantly other students. Without everyday interactions with adults, students will have a hard time developing their emotional growth and developing autonomy.

There comes a time in person’s life when their must make decisions that will further go on to impact their life vastly. For many, that decision is whether to further their education or not. For those who do decide to further their education, they must choose which type of schooling is best, college or vocational schooling. Vocational schooling may appeal to those who are looking for an alternative and less expensive form of education. College, the more standard form of education, gives students the ability to have more flexibility since a variety of careers can be open to them from the major they choose. Both forms of education have its advantages and disadvantages, while benefiting the future of the student in the long run.
A peer mentor is a program collaborative with the FYE (first year seminar) to provide help for the first year student. To help student overcome the challenge transition to college life, Sacramento state offer a program that would help them adjust to the new start. This program launched during 2002-2003 and the program has grown from group of 5 to 39 peer mentor to serve and help first year students.
Growing up learning and speaking English has been something that was difficult for me at first but then came easy, but that was not the case for my mother. She spent her whole life speaking Spanish, so when she decided to take English learning classes it was challenging. However, she had me to help her throughout her struggle. I helped her complete her homework and assignments. We would also go to the library to check out easy level reading books to have her read to me. I would correct her English when it was wrong and do all I could to boost her confidence. Imagine you're playing in a volleyball match. The setter sets up the ball for you and you come in, and slam the ball to the floor. In many ways, peer tutoring is like volleyball. The tutee is the hitter, and the tutor is the setter. In this situation, they are peers that the coach, or teacher, put together to score the point, or get the A+. See, the tutor is always trying to make the tutee better. Most peer tutoring programs have had positive results. Many studies prove them to be cost effective and academically beneficial. However, some might argue it to be a waste of time and not at all effective compared to a teacher. Valley Center schools should create a peer tutoring program because it will help students build communication skills, lead students to a better future career, and expand students' general knowledge.

I believe that Face to Face learning is better than online learning because students have access to various learning resources on campus verses off. Face to face allows students to have instant gratification with answers and help. When a student is in class they can ask questions while it is fresh on their mind or help with a particular problem. If the student was at home online they would have to wait for the instructor to email them back. Is that really more conducive to a person’s education and learning?
