They spend their days talking to the patients, their parents, and many others from different medical fields. This career interests me because of my desire to help and work with children. Being a pediatrician is something I see myself investing my time and efforts into. Most importantly, when I got home from work, I would love to say that I made someone’s day by helping them and that I saved a life. Career Details Pediatricians …show more content…

There are few jobs in today’s world that are essential to our society and being a nurse is one of them. Diane Marks Nurse Clinician of Pediatric Allergy at the Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg Manitoba granted me the privilege of sitting down to discuss her career . Through this interview I was able to gain perspective on how being a pediatric nurse encompasses more than what is written in the job description. It is more than just needles and antibiotics, but many times it means being a mother, a sister, a friend, a councillor, and many other roles in the patient’s life.
I am currently majoring in nursing, and plan to become a pediatric nurse. However, before starting high school I wanted to be a veterinarian. Because of this, my mom signed me up to take Health Team Relations my freshman year. At the time, Health Team Relations was a prerequisite course; I was required to take it before being able to continue with what was known as Allied Health I and Allied Health II. I was taught the basics of health care, including terminology and the different careers available in the medical field. Health Team Relations was the course that helped me begin to consider my career options.

Pediatric nurses do a lot of the same tasks as a regular nurse. They draw blood, check vital signs, can perform physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests. However, the job of a pediatric nurse goes beyond regular nurses. They must have a caring relationship not only with the patient they are tending to, but also the patient’s family. Parents usually prefer a pediatric nurse over a regular nurse due to the caring relationship they carry. This is well known by the nurses as the caring process. During this process the nurse must help the child and the child’s family step by step with anything they may need at the time. The pediatric nurse provides support, care, and information on how to prevent future problems. Pediatric nursing can be defined as “the practice of nursing with children, youth, and their families across the health continuum, including health promotion, illness management, and health restoration" (Barnsteiner et al). Therefore, you can see from that statement alone there is more than one job to be done by a pediatric nurse. A pediatric nurse can see anywhere from 80 to 100 children a day. They take appointments, walk-ins, and sometimes make home visits. Only when the pediatric nurse finds an abnormality will they refer and send the child t...

Becoming a physician means so much more than the academics and extracurricular activities, the arduous studying and relentless applications. Passion is a key factor, but what does it mean to be passionate beyond the dictionary definition? As aspiring healthcare providers, we should strive to bring aid to those in need, whether they 're in their final hours or at the beginning of their lifespan. To be devoted in medicine is to aid a community that we resonate with beyond mere words. Personally, I want to become a pediatrician because I want to give back to my community. I was born prematurely by about three months and monitored for weeks. The amount of time and care placed into my survival still shocks me to this day. I

Throughout the long process of applying for school after school, obtaining scholarship after scholarship, and proving one’s medical skill with each and every exam, one must feel true bliss when grasping the newly received medical license in one’s hands. A career in nursing is extremely important in today's society. Without nurses to assist doctors in the care of patients, the quality of patient care may not be the same. Nurses do not just serve a great role in our community, but they also are just as needed as a police officer patrolling the streets or a teacher in the classroom. Although it may seem very easy to become a nurse, one's desire must be very strong in order to to actually pursue a career in nursing. Pediatric nursing is not just a profession that one would desire, but is a profession that is widely needed.

I have always wanted to work in the medical field since I was a child. Around four, I told my pediatrician during a well- check visit that I wanted to grow up and be just like her. My love of infants and children strongly influenced my career choice because I want to have the ability to help sick children who do not have the ability to help themselves. I have considered many options to enter the healthcare field from nurse, to doctor, and finally came to the conclusion that what I truly wanted out of my future resided in a career as a Physician Assistant. Becoming a PA is not something that I have considered lightly.
Many people in this world want to make a difference in life. However, most people do not want to put in all the effort that it takes to do so. The job of a pediatrician is life-changing to many. Unfortunately, it takes drive and effort that many people do not have, to become a pediatrician. A pediatrician’s job is a highly-skilled and interesting job because he or she has the privilege to deal with and help as many children as possible.
Since I am intrigued by the children’s personalities, I love spending time with them (and that’s why their child-like ways rub off on me). Thus, I believe that my own childish personality and my love of children will motivate me in the near future to help them out with their medical needs. Also, being a pediatrician and helping out children has its own rewards. Not only will I be doing something I enjoy, but I will be getting paid a generous price as well. A pediatrician’s salary is not the highest compared to surgeons or cardiologists, but it’s enough to have a life that is something more than simply satisfying.
In the future, I hope to pursue my career dream of becoming a pediatrician. Pediatricians can be identified individuals who specialize in giving medical care to children and adolescents between infancy to adulthood at eighteen years of age. I became inspired to become a pediatrician due to my immense love of children. Perhaps I have an innate intuition for taking care of people being that I have always felt that I excel at taking care of others. The idea of taking care of others truly makes me feel that I serve a purpose, not only to better the life of myself but the life of others. Therefore, I believe that becoming a pediatrician will help me combine the best of both worlds into a career that I adore and cherish.
