Children’s Hospital of Georgia (Augusta, GA), Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (Atlanta, GA), and Savannah Pediatric Surgery (Savannah, GA) are all examples of astounding children’s hospitals in the state of Georgia. (Northern, “If You’re Sick, These 10 Hospitals in Georgia Are The Best in The State”). Each of these hospitals have similar annual wages; however, the annual salary can vary depending on what the specialty of pediatric surgery is. For example a pediatric neurosurgeon would make approximately $656,282 per year. (Decker, “What Is the Financial Income for a Pediatric Surgeon?”). While general pediatric surgeons would average about $350,000-$420,000 for their annual income. (“Georgia Surgeon- Pediatric Salaries”). Their work schedule is more intense due to the long hours and increased on-call time. These surgeons work with patients who have smaller fragile bodies making it challenging for them. While on-call, most doctors carry out day-to-day pre-and-post-operative exams. These exams take place in outpatient and inpatient settings. (“Pediatric Surgery Residency”). They also perform surgeries and procedures. These procedures can range from a simple appendectomy (removal of inflamed or infected appendix most likely due to appendicitis) to a multi-staged separation of craniopagus twins (conjoined twins whose craniums are fused together). ...communities, especially those that are in need and what the community needs are primary health providers. From the beginning, when I decided to pursue dentistry, my goal was to become a general dentist, the idea of specializing seemed unnecessary. However, I have a recent newfound interest in pediatric dentistry and may explore that specialty. I’ve enjoyed working with children throughout the various volunteer activities and I feel like there is a need for pediatric dentists in the underserved communities. By being a pediatric dentist as a part of the National Health Corps Scholarship Program, I would be able to provide valuable skills and resources to children and their parents, especially those with special needs and dental fears. While pediatric dentistry is a specialty I will continue to explore, the priority remains to commit my career to serving those in need.
The road to gaining admission to medical school and becoming a physician is long, difficult, and intensely competitive. Once admitted, however, medical students spend the first two years primarily in laboratories and classrooms learning basic medical sciences. They also learn how to take medical histories, perform complete physical examinations, and recognize symptoms of diseases. During their third and fourth years, the medical students work under supervision at teaching hospitals and clinics. Following medical school, new physicians must complete a year of internship that emphasizes either general medical practice or one specific specialty and provides clinical experience in various hospital services. Physicians then continue in residency training, which lasts an additional three to six years, depending on the specialty. Immediately after residency, they are eligible to take an examination to earn board certification in their chosen specialty. Most traditional specialties include the following: anesthesiologist, cardiologist, dermatologist, family practitioner, gastroenterologist, internist, neurologist, oncologist, pathologist, psychiatrist, pulmonologist, and urologist

I appreciate that you have decided to share your personal experience within this post. Pediatric care is an entity within itself within the medical field. Ill children are extremely difficult to manage as patients and have the tendency to have a rapid change in status while patients in the hospital. Providing safe care for pediatrics during hospitalization is an area that I am not too familiar with. Working the ER I have had many pediatric patients, but the parents always remain with the patient. When peds patients are admitted, hospital protocol states that the patient must be present during the transfer of the patient to the admitting floor. So, in my experience the parent always provides the safety aspect of care in the ER, patient are expected

Pediatricians mainly treat patients that are infants, and sometimes examine newborn babies to make sure the child is perfectly healthy and has no questionable health related issues after he or she has been delivered (Halm para. 13). Along with examining children, pediatricians treat patients with minor injuries, treatable illnesses, growth and development concerns, and many other health related issues(“Pediatrician” para. 1). What is a pediatrician? Pediatricians are doctors who specialize and focus in caring for babies to young adults (Career Cruising). They deal with childhood diseases and the care of infants with health and sickness (Elberts). The typical upper age limit of patients is from age twelve to age twenty-one (NetMed Pediatrics). They have to treat their patients as if he or she were going to change the world. Pediatricians complete many tasks in a day’s time. They perform physical exams and order tests that will diagnose diseases and injuries that have occurred. They advise surgery and medications and may also help patients through puberty and family problems (Career Cruising). It is their responsibility to make sure the patients are not only healthy, but also safe and happy. Some pediatricians communicate with social workers, family members, and health care workers to understand the entire situation as best as they can (Career Cruising). If the patient seems to have more personal problems, pediatricians have the opportunity to send them to other doctors like a psychiatrist for treatment. Others work as advocates by educating the community about car safety and the benefits from school breakfast (Career Cruising).

Computer courses are useful as technology is changing the way medicine is shared by physicians today. To head a career as a physician, a student needs to first enroll in a liberal arts program in undergraduate institution. Some colleges offer a premed major, but a general education with as many science and math course as possible and a major in biology or chemistry is good preparation for the study of medicine also. During sophomore or junior year in college, students should talk with an adviser about taking the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). College students should apply to medical schools at the beginning of their senior year, so it is recommended to begin medical school research as early as freshman
Pediatrics is an exciting and challenging field which I consider the only career choice for me. My interest in the discipline was reinforced during core pediatric clerkship rotation, when I was particularly attracted by the special bond between the pediatrician, the patient, and the parents, while working for the best outcome. I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Aleppo University in Syria with very good overall average. Then, I was accepted to the Pediatric Residency Program at Damascus University Children 's Hospital which was the only pediatric tertiary center in the country. Ultimately, in 2001 I became the youngest licensed pediatrician in Syria. Afterwards, I worked in primary, secondary, and tertiary centers, in Syria and Saudi Arabia until 2013. In 2014, I joined McMaster NICU as a clinical fellow, where I upgraded my technical neonatal skills, and became more familiar with the Canadian health system.
With so many jobs in the world it’s so hard to choose just one. Do you want to be an athlete or a doctor? You have to decide wisely because once you choose turning back is a difficult task. Being a surgeon is the job I want to have as an adult. Being a surgeon may be hard but in the long run it’s worth it. This career caught my attention as a kid. I would always watch these ER shows and see these crazy tasks that they would have to deal with, and through all that they’d be calm and collective. Seeing a surgeon save someone’s life inspires me to want to do the same thing. If I would have the ability to save someone’s life, it would allow me to see the world in a whole new way. Every year more than 15 million people in the U.S. have surgery. That being said the need for surgeons will never decrease, as there always will be a surgery to perform. A surgeon is always on call everyday of the year, they need to be able to perform under some of the most pressures situations. Five things one must understand when researching a career are: career description historical perspective, salary, training and education and career progression.
