Introduction
A philosopher is best defined as someone who studies and often writes or teaches about issues behind many different areas of study. Paulo Freire, perhaps the most influential thinker about education in the late twentieth century was born on September 19 1921 in a middle class family. He was a philosopher and an educator. He is best known for his work and influence on Pedagogy of the Oppressed, which is considered one of the most important books of the critical pedagogy movement. According to (Goodreads 2014), Paulo Freire once said that, “The teacher is of course an artist, but being an artist does not mean that he or she can make the profile, can shape the students. What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves.” In the view of Paulo Freire he sees teachers as people who should not try to force their own ideas on learners but they should provide the environment where learners are able to be themselves and discover themselves. Teacher should do this but they should also still teach and mould learners and should still provide them with information. In this essay I’m going to give an outline of Freire’s major ideas on education and on how he has influenced my educational thinking process.

Paulo Friere’s essay “The ‘Banking’ concept of education” is a short passage from his book "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" that explains the two primary types of education that exist according to Friere. There is a banking system that Freire talks about that regards to men as adaptable and manageable beings. Freire even says “The more students work at storing the deposits entrusted to them, the less they develop the critical consciousness which would result from their intervention in the world as transformers of the world.” His concept on education is that the teachers in the community needs to get the minds of students more active. Fredrick Douglas and Paulo Freire have very different views on the social justice behind learning to read, however, their arguments are very similar to each other as well.
The first essay that I will be examining is Paulo Freire’s “The Banking Concept of Education”. Education is a topic that can be explored in many ways. Education is looked at in depth by both Richard Rodriguez in his essay, “The Achievement of Desire”, and by Paulo Freire in his essay, “The ‘Banking’ Concept of Education.” After reading both essays, one can make some assumptions about different methods of education and exactly by which method Rodriguez was taught. The types of relationships Rodriguez had with his teachers, family and in life were affected by specific styles of education.
How do teachers attempt to control the way you understand the world? Paulo Freire, author of “The ‘Banking’ Concept of Education”, declares that “Narration (with the teacher as the narrator) leads the students to memorize mechanically the narrated content. Worse yet, it turns them into ‘containers,’ into ‘receptacles’ to be ‘filled’ by the teacher” (216). Freire’s statement implies that teaching utilizing the banking concept shifts the role of students as learners to robots that receive data and execute orders given by their programmers (teachers) but do not actually recognize the significance of the information. Freire takes the stance that education too often alienates students from their historical situation, whereas Rodriguez finds it necessary for the student to alienate oneself from one’s original situation in order to achieve individual thinking. This necrophilic technique of education dominates students and is only alienating them from Freire’s proposed version of education “Liberation is a praxis: the action and reflection of men and women upon their world in order to transform it” (Freire 249). What Freire means by this is that students cannot have a liberated view of themselves and their relations with the world if they are taught with the banking concept of education. They are alienated from what is the most important historical aspect of their lives, their relationship with the world, and therefore Freire’s conclusion opposes

Education is not only the most necessary way to inherit knowledge, but also the most significant factor to determine our human being’s future. Nowadays, the most widely education model is called banking concept education in the whole world. The banking ‘concept’ of education is characterised by the storage act of relationship between teacher and student in schooling. For instance, the “banking” education is regarded as a banking system in schooling. The teachers do the act of teaching like a depositor to “banking” knowledge to students. Pedagogy of the Oppressed is a nonfiction book by Brazilian author Paulo Freire. The book is best known for its philosophical concepts on oppression as it pertains to education. Since the book 's first publication in 1978 it has become a worldwide staple for educators and activists alike, who strive to conquer the problem of oppression in its many facets of life. Pedagogy of the Oppressed is an eye-opening and life changing book that should be a requirement for all future educators in order to ensure success in creating a liberating and humanizing education system.
Pestalozzi, Froebel, and Rousseau made major contributions to education through their ideas and methods. Many of these thought and philosophies are important to me in my current views of students and education, influencing the kind of teacher I aspire to be and the methods I plan to put in place.
In his book, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Freire discussed the problems that lay in education and proposed solutions to the problems. Freire faulted the capitalist of education and set a revolution in education. In his book Freire said that a problem-prosing education is what was needed to revolutionize education. The book Pedagogy of the Oppressed introduced Freire's concepts and theories surrounding education during the 20th century. Many of concepts discussed as the foundation of education include: the "banking theory," "conscientization," "dialogical method," and "transformative education." In his book, Freire shows that the practices in education that were being used were dehumanizing and producing unproductive students to the world. He proposed the idea that education should be a "dialogical process" in which students and teachers are learning from their experiences.
Freire, “is a model of advocacy” (Warren & Fasset). Explaining this further, Freire, made many impact moves in the field of communication. Creating the terms, “Problem-Posing Approach, Reflexivity, and Praxis”. The great teacher that he was, also, taught farmers how to read and write in a time when they were too uneducated to learn themselves. As well that he, included the statement “he helps both teachers and students think differently about their contributions in the classroom” (Warren & Fasset).
