The late Paul Walker, who was the founder of Reach Out WorldWide, said, “When you put good will out there it’s amazing what can be accomplished.” Reach Out Worldwide is a charity/organization who goes into countries and cities within the United States to help after natural disasters. I donate half of the money I get at Christmas and my birthday to the organization. ROWW was founded in 2010 and the first deployment was going to help after the Haiti Earthquake. Paul had this idea that he wanted to get down and dirty with hands-on help and that has been continued throughout the year. They had helped with medical support and cleaning the debris. ROWW is looking for volunteers to help out with the deployments whether it be from medical support to
just cooking a meal for the residence of the area. There are doctors who are leaving their practices to come out and help. When Paul Walker passed his brother Cody took over Reach Out WorldWide and they have gone on many deployments since from helping Puerto Rico with Hurricane Maria to the Georgia Tornado to doing follow-ups with areas they already went to depending on the damage. The following statistic is from the website ‘On a typical international deployment, a team of 7 will see 500 patients in 6 days and provide the capability to treat 10,000,000 gallons of clean water.’ When money is donated 1% is taken out for the processing fee, but the donator has the option to pay that fee. If $25 is donated the processing fee would be $0.25 and isn’t that drastic otherwise it is taken out of the donation. People can help whether it be by donating money or donating their time to help others in need. Even just by wearing the merchandise helps to spread the word out. ROWW’s philosophy is “by making a difference in just one person’s life, the world has been changed for the better, whether in the mainstream USA or remote island chains with no media attention.”
Strengths – In terms of its strengths, WWP is a fast-growing nonprofit that is able to reach its financial objectives to fund its many programs. This is evidenced by the fact that the WWP reported that it has a “total revenue of $342 million, which is more than the revenue WWP generated 5 years ago at $74 million” (Clolery & Hrywna, 2016, para.13). WWP’S membership numbers continue to increase, and as of July 2016 WWP has 91,218 alumni and 19,766 family members (Who We Serve, n.d.). The numbers have increased steadily over the past few years and are projected to increase in the years to come. Currently, the WWP has many corporate sponsors, which include the NFL, Amazon, and Bank of America. (Current Corporate Sponsors, n.d.). This shows that the WWP is an organization that helps veterans and is supported by reputable and widely known companies, which demonstrates that the WWP is good at fundraising.
David Walker’s Appeal to the Coloured Citizens of the World, but in particular, and very expressly to those of the United States of America, “promoted racial solidarity and moral elevation with fervor,” and is as much a political source as it is religious. His Appeal adamantly argues against oppression and slavery while encouraging a vivacious and lively spirit amongst the black community, in the hopes of promoting unity and diminishing the acceptance of mistreatment from their white counterparts. To convey this message, which was presented in a mannerism that was extremely radical, Walker uses the bible and what can most clearly be defined as a Methodist theology to support his stance on the issues of society.
Several people are getting materials together in big rescue boats and floats to help people in need that may be stuck or on the edge of harm. They deliver people food, clean water, and even clothes. nasc.com (NA 2017). Our president, Trump and many other people have made many donations. Everyone around the world is.

Thanks to this organization 4 million people have been provided a coat! Their mission is to provide warm coats free of charge. They are doing pretty well in completing their mission so far. Anyone can donate on their website, $1 can buy two coats, $10 buys 20 coats and $100 can buy 200 coats for people in
The Children’s Miracle Network is a non-profit organization that provides charitable funds to 170 children’s hospitals in the United States and Canada. Nearly 500 corporations participate in fundraisers and campaigns that provide hospitals with equipment, research, and care to children who suffer from injuries and illnesses. To date, Children’s Miracle Network has raised more than 4.7 billion dollars, and what’s unique about this organization is that every penny stays within the network (CMN, n.d.). Children’s Miracle Network has been extremely successful over the last thirty one years due to the relationships that they have built with corporations, the extreme media coverage that they obtain, and the lives and stories of those associated with CMN that have influenced communities to make a difference one dollar at a time.
If you have been wondering what to do in the wake of all the natural disasters happening in the world, including hurricanes and storms, you will be interested in this program?
Reach Out WorldWide (“ROWW”) was started by a group of 6 men in California. They who flew to Haiti and volunteered to help in whatever way they could after a massive earthquake devastated the country on January 12, 2010. While working in Haiti as medical aid volunteers the group recognized the need for skilled people, supplies and urgency for a faster response when natural disasters strike. After returning to the United States from Haiti the 6 men, Lucas Wimer, Paul Walker, Jesse Brisendine, Dave Marquez, Christian Urzua and John Cloughton formed ROWW. The foundation of the organization was built upon the experiences they had while in Haiti. ROWW was born from a simple idea which recognized the need for an immediate response to people in need and; that by working together they could make a difference. "You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” is a quote by John Bunyan that the founders of ROWW each believe.
Largely influenced by the French New Wave and other international film movements, many American filmmakers in the late 1960s to 1970s sought to revolutionize Hollywood cinema in a similar way. The New Hollywood movement, also referred to as the “American New Wave” and the “Hollywood Renaissance,” defied traditional Hollywood standards and practices in countless ways, creating a more innovative and artistic style of filmmaking. Due to the advent and popularity of television, significant decrease in movie theater attendance, rising production costs, and changing tastes of American audiences, particularly in the younger generation, Hollywood studios were in a state of financial disaster. Many studios thus hired a host of young filmmakers to revitalize the business, and let them experiment and have almost complete creative control over their films. In addition, the abandonment of the restrictive Motion Picture Production Code in 1967 and the subsequent adoption of the MPAA’s rating system in 1968 opened the door to an era of increased artistic freedom and expression.
For our project, Maddie, Payal, Shraddha, and I decided to volunteer with a group called Angel Arms located in Latrobe. Angel Arms is an organization that takes care and helps rehabilitate babies who were born addicted to drugs. At first, we assumed we would be working with their snuggler program which would have allowed us to hold and comfort these babies. However, with the opioid epidemic on the rise, a place was needed for their work to continue. Although a long way out, Angel Arms is restoring an old abandoned Victorian house to turn it a rehabilitation place for these babies. They just started the project a month back so our service project was doing a lot of moving of old furniture out of the house. We helped them organize what could
I visited the House of Compassion which is facility in Marshalltown, IA. House of Compassion is a non-profit organization that opened twenty years ago. They are a place of hospitality for those that our hungry, homeless, or in need of medical assistance. The services they have include a supply closet, soup kitchen, emergency shelter, and a Medical Assistance Program. The supply closet enables them to supply personal hygiene products for families in need, diapers is a common need that is often forgotten by the public. The soup kitchen provides food for those that our hungry, and recently the House of Compassion as started a Garden of Compassion which they use to grow food to continue to feed and inform those that our in need. The Emergency Shelter is available for those that have no where to go. They have many beds for people to sleep in, and they are encouraged and supported while they are staying there. This is a common place for people to come in transition, in refuge, and most that come of a sense of hopelessness. Reversing this hopelessness is what the House of Compassion is hoping to do. They want to provide basic needs and help people back on their feet and experience again the hope that we have in Christ.
The PWC that was founded by Gill in February, 2012 was to encourage other children such as newcomer youth to volunteer in the community. This is a one of a kind youth-led group which has created a lot of buzz worldwide. The age for these volunteers range from 4-18 year olds. Among PWC’s other projects: Jean Green Drive, Book Drive, Shoreline Clean Up, Go Zero Waste and No Hungry Children have made a lot of impact to the community on a local and international level..
Yes, I would definitely characterize Paul Farmer as a servant leader. A servant leader is defined as a person beginning with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, and to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. . . The difference manifest itself in the care taken by the servant—first to make sure that other people’s highest priority needs are being served. I believe this definition describes Paul exactly, when he graduated and first visited Haiti he began to serve the needs of others. After spending time in Haiti, Paul realized he found his life’s purpose was to be a doctor to poor people, and he would start in Haiti. After serving people all around the world, he later grew into a leader after making sure people’s medical needs were being served. From the text, it seemed as if Paul was genuinely volunteering in rural areas to later becoming a doctor with a whole organization to help the less fortunate all around the world. It never stated that Paul was doing this because he wanted to become famous, run different programs, or to become wealthy.
Born in California in 1973, Paul Walker made his debut in the 1986 horror spoof Monster in Your Closet. After appearing in a couple television shows in the 1990s staring Charles in Charge, Who's the Boss, The Young and the Restless, Walker gained attention with a role in the film Varsity Blues, and his TV days were officially in the past. After working in movies like She's All That and The Skulls,
I was four or five years old when I first noticed people with ‘plus red’ sign logo helping the victims of nearby town that have been devastated by vicious fire. Everyone present there were oblivious of who these ‘angel’ like people are and who sent them here. This has never happened in extreme places like that before. Like many superheroes in science fiction movies, they came from nowhere and started getting their hands dirty. With them, they brought food, water and medical aids, etc. At that young age, all that I cared about was the bottle of juice with strawberry flavor that they distributed needless of who the victims were. Post this incident, I began to see them in every situation like this. Years later, I came to know who these people as the volunteers of an organization called Red Cross. Since then, I have been very passionate about working for this organization one day and knowing about how it works in relieving the people in need. Over the years, the Red Cross has been protecting human life and health and promoting awareness among individuals through programs like Disaster relief, blood transfusion, health education, etc. around the globe.
One way that volunteering benefits the community is by showing God's love. Some organizations such as Samaritans Purse show God's love through meeting the needs of people that have been through war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine. As they help the needy, they also share God's word with the victims, and by helping, they are showing how God is working in us to help them “What We Do”. Another way that spreads God's love is disaster relief that some churches put together and allows people to share why they are helping. The Churches of Christ Relief Effort is an organization that will immediately respond to any major disaster in the USA “International Crisis Response”. They will then gather truckloads of food, personal hygiene, infant care, water, cleaning supplies, and other basic needs. While they provide these supplies they also share God's word with those affected by the disaster. When people see what we are doing, they will see how God is working in us and will hopefully want to know more about God and how he works through us. Along with showing God's love, volunteering also helps those in need, builds community and meet new people, getting jobs done faster and more efficient, and saves a ton of
