On December 26, 1996, the wealthy community of Boulder, Colorado, was shaken by a crime that would become one of America’s most famous mysteries. JonBenet Ramsey, a six-year-old beauty queen, was found murdered in the basement of her family home. The day after Christmas, Patsy Ramsey, walked downstairs to find an unknown letter on her staircase. The letter was a ransom note written by an apparent kidnapper who was said to have possession of JonBenet, demanding a large sum of $180,000 in exchange for retrieving their daughter unharmed. The letter warned that if they did not follow instructions, their daughter would be beheaded. However, despite the warning, Patsy called the police who were immediately involved in the case. A significant amount of evidence …show more content…
Patsy being the one that called 911 was believed to be hiding something seeing as the fact she thought she had hung up the phone but did not, talking to her family. She said “What did you do?.” Patsy also stated that Burke was asleep when she was calling the police, but some people said they could hear him in the background after she thought she had hung up the phone that morning. Although Patsy Ramsey is one of the suspects in the murder of her daughter, many others remain. John Benet Ramsey, JonBenet’s father, was the one who found his daughter deceased at the end of the spiral staircase in the basement. When asked in interviews how he felt when he saw her, he said he felt relieved at first, then he realized she was no longer alive. However, he was told not to touch the body of evidence by investigators. He took the tape off of her mouth, carried her upstairs, and put a blanket over her. Police thought it was suspicious that John found the body and tampered with the evidence. At that moment, he became a great suspect in the case. John hired private investigators to help solve the case and find out who killed his
The Jonbenet Ramsey case has remained unsolved for twenty years now, and I realize, it might not ever be solved, but I do have a theory. My theory involves three different things, the build up, the murder and the cover-up. In the end, I do not think that there was an intruder that broke in the house, the evidence just doesn’t add up to that. I feel as if somebody in the family killed her, and the Ramseys covered it up. If you go even deeper, John Ramsey could have compensated John Mark Karr to take the blame, and to get some of all of the post-murder weight off of his chest. In order to find who killed J.B.R., we have to look into the Ramseys’ lives first. We know that the Ramseys had money, a lot of it. And the odd amount of money in the ransom note just doesn’t make any
On the morning of December 26, 1996, JonBenet Ramsey was reported kidnapped by her mother, Patsy Ramsey (Saferstein, 2015). According to all reports, Patsy Ramsey discovered a ransom letter on the back staircase of their home in Boulder, Colorado when she descended the stairwell shortly before 6 am that morning (Marple, 2017). Patsy Ramsey stated that she immediately ran back up the stairs into JonBenet Ramsey’s bedroom, after reading the first portion of the handwritten note, discovering that she was not in her bed. JonBenet Ramsey’s father, John Ramsey, advised that he and Patsy Ramsey both checked on their
Jonbenet Ramsey: The Unsolved Murder Case There have been many unsolved murder mysteries, and one of them is the case of Jonbenet Ramsey. The case hasn’t been solved in over twenty years. There are many theories about the case, one of them being The Intruder Theory. The Intruder Theory states that someone broke into the house and murdered Jonbenet Ramsey on that infamous Christmas night. There is enough evidence to support that theory.
If the killer was one of the family members there motive would have been because of their rage. It was said that Patsey was getting mad at Jonbenet for wetting the bed almost every night. She could have snapped and accidently hit her with an object she found near her. She told there gardener that anyone can get away with murder in this country right now because at the time OJ Simpson was found innocent. But there is also a motive for John Ramsey. When the police arrived at the house it was reported that he was making a phone call and saying that he is wanting to leave the area. Why would John want to leave the area if his daughter just died? After that John left for about an hour and no one knows where he went expect him. When he came back he was acting very suspicious. But it could have been an intruder as well that killed Jonbenet. The window in the basement was smashed and they found scruff marks on the wall. There was also a boot print that was found in the crime scene and it didn't match anyones shoe in the house. Eventually the police ruled out the immediate family because of the DNA. The police suspected other people too like John Mark Karr or Michael Helgoth. Karr confessed to strangling to in detail. But they ruled him out because of the DNA didn't match and she didn't die of strangulation. Helgoth also confessed to murdering her on tape. The boot print that the police found was very similar the his shoes that he was wearing. But they ruled him out because of DNA and Michael committed
Everybody had an opinion on what happened at the Ramsey household on December 25, 1996. Most people believed that the family is responsible for killing JonBenet. Ever since that day, the public has held the Ramsey family under a cloud of suspicion. The family did everything they could do to defend themselves. They believe that an intruder must have done it, but most of the public believes that the family should be held responsible for the killing. The main suspect that police keyed in on was the mother of JonBenet. The reason for the suspicion of the mother was the 911 call made by Patsy Ramsey the day of the murder. In this 911 call, the mother seemed very suspicious. Patsy said “We have a kidnapping” ( McClish). “It seemed like she knew something she was not telling” (McClish 2001).
clear to me that the Ramsey family murdered JonBenet. I think that Burke, her older
Mary Maloney is accused of murdering her husband with an unknown weapon for an unknown reason. Chief detective, Patrick Maloney was murdered last night at his own house, no suspects have been identified yet and the search for the murder weapon was futile. Apparently, the officer had come home exhausted from work and was waiting for his wife Mrs. Mary Maloney, who left to buy food across the street for their dinner. According to a statement, Mary arrives home from the grocery store to find her husband dead on the living room floor.
The ransom note was photographed in the wrong place, the police did not immediately search the house, and friends and family were allowed to enter the home. Due to the holidays, the coroner arrived more than six hours from when he was called. It was not until 1:20 p.m., a thorough search was proposed and ordered to do by John Ramsey (Ramsland). Since the police allowed family and friends to enter the Ramsey’s home, it enabled various people to touch vital evidence and compromise the crime scene. If the police would have properly secured the crime scene and took affirmative action sooner clear evidence could have been obtained, directing them to the killer. Jonbenet was found in her own home by her father after several hours of “searching” which immediately led people to become suspicious. Most compelling evidence suggests that JonBenet was murdered several hours before she was found. The time frame of death indicates that JonBenet was “abducted” right after her parents put her to bed. Evidence suggests no sign of forced entry, as well as a lack of footprints in the snow surrounding the house. Whoever committed this crime must have been familiar with the layout of the house since the body was hidden in the wine cellar in the basement (Bardsley and Bellamy). With this information, clearly someone inside the house was in some way involved in the murder of JonBenet. To be more specific, all signs point to John

Stated by John Ramsey, “As I was walking through the basement, I opened the door to a room, and knew immediately that I’d found her because there was a white blanket- her eyes were closed, I feared the worse but yet- I’d found her” (Bardesley, and Bellamy). On December 26, 1996, one of the most famous, unsolved murders took place in Boulder, Colorado (Christopher). There was a ransom note left that demanded $118,000 in exchange for John and Patsy’s daughter. The note stated that if the Ramsay’s contacted the police, their daughter would be killed. There were many other factors to JonBenet’s mysterious death, for example the bowl of pineapple, the mistakes made by the police and many more. On December 26, 1996, JonBenet was missing from her bed when her mother Patsy went in to see her.

Imagine it is the night after Christmas day when people are lying in the comfort of their bed in their own home. They hug their parents goodnight, not knowing it would be the last time they would be able to tell them they love them. This is the same as what happened to a young, vibrant, six-year-old beauty pageant queen who was tragically abducted from her home, then later found strangled in her own basement. JonBenet Ramsey was born August 6th, 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia. At the ripe age of four, in 1994, JonBenet competed in her first beauty pageant competition where she won Colorado State All-Star Kids Covergirl.
Whitney Houston to most was a very amazing and talented person who allowed life and its mishaps break her down. As a young girl she grew up in the church where she felt like it was a sign from God that she should be singing. Freud believes that religion is an illusion, an attempt to gain control over the external world. In his eyes saying that anything is a sign from God depends on how you vision life. There were times in her life where she would produce more music just to get thru the thing that she would be going through. She would use her music as a defense mechanism to get away from all of the abuse, problems with her marriage, neglect, and drugs. Defense mechanisms are ways to distort reality to reduce anxiety: Rationalization is giving a positive reason to a stressor and regression is withdrawing from reality and going to pastime.
Another good use for technology is extra jobs. People can easily get online and put applications in. This is good in case they’re not physically able to get to the place they want to apply for. If they’re able to get to the place and put a good impression in on the boss, they can just search for jobs online then go in and put an application in.
