“Being a cornerback, you’ve got to have that confidence within yourself, because I believe if you don’t have the confidence and the swagger within yourself, you’ll never be what you want to be.” Patrick Peterson, cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals, quoted saying this in 2011. Peterson is a role model for many young teens who enjoy to play and watch football. He has been considered one of the most electric players in the NFL. Patrick Peterson has inspired me to have a better work ethic and the consequences of not trying hard.
Patrick Peterson is a 24 year old professional football player for the Arizona Cardinals. Since he was a kid, Peterson was destined to be a great football player. By the time he was out of high school, he had four cousins

already playing in the NFL (most notable Santana Moss). Not only did he have those four cousins to help him with football, but just the fact of growing up in Florida made him that much better due to the fact that Florida is one of the best states for high school football. Although he had always been a great athlete, Peterson lacked the effort to study in school. That all changed when his dad made him quit football his sophomore year in high school. Petersons’ entire attitude changed towards academics and his father let him play the next year. “It was a jaw-dropping moment, but it definitely helped me put a lot of things in perspective,” Peterson said. “It helped me be a better player and a better person.” This new attitude earned him a full ride scholarship at Louisiana State University (LSU). Throughout his three years at LSU, Peterson was not only considered, but was the best cornerback in college football. HIs Junior year he won the Bednarik (Nation’s top defender) and Thorpe award (Nation’s top defensive back). He also earned all SEC (southeastern conference) defensive and special teams player of the year and also was voted as an all-american. After his Junior year, Peterson entered the NFL draft and was taken fifth overall by Arizona. Today he is still with Arizona and is considered one of the best in the league. Ever since I was a kid football has been very important to me. I played my first eight years in the little league, but when it came time for high school football to start, I didn’t put in the right work ethic and decided not to play. I didn’t think that I’d ever play football again, but when I started watching Patrick Peterson and learning about his past, I decided that I would think about it. I thought about it for about two months, and decided that I would at least go to the workouts and decide before baseball season. l remembered how Peterson didn’t play his sophomore year and how he thought he would be behind, but instead he worked harder than anyone else and came back better than ever. Knowing this, I decided that I would work harder than ever and try and become as good as everyone else, if not better. Peterson has truly inspired me to be the best I can be and work hard every day. After all of the workouts throughout the offseason had been completed, the regular season had finally come.
Even though I thought that it would never be possible judging by the place I had been in 8 months before, I earned a spot starting at cornerback. Though I had the starting spot for the first game, I kept the same mentality that Peterson had taught me unknowingly, to work as hard as you could every single day. After the first game had ended, I felt very confident that I had kept my starting spot. As the games went on, and the season grew deeper into the year, I kept striving to become a better player. Peterson is notorious for shutting down the opposing teams best player, and when week nine and ten came, I took on those duties. I knew that the two kids that I would have to face were bigger and stronger than me, but I knew that size and strength didn’t matter as long as you had confidence in yourself and the teammates around you. I won some and lost some of the many battles fought throughout the entire year. Although I didn’t give up a single touchdown the entire year, our team still lost two games, one ending our season in the first round of playoffs. Throughout the entire season I kept working hard as I possibly could, and in turn, I turned myself into a good football player thanks to
Peterson. Over the course of my life I have always enjoyed playing all kinds of sports, especially football. Even though I didn’t play in high school until my last year, I still enjoyed all the great times I had with my teammates and coaches in the only year I played. Though there was much adversity I had to overcome this past year, I kept my head up and kept pushing to get better. Although I’m not big on working hard, I can say that I enjoyed all the intense training sessions over the summer, and looking back now, I can say that I have made major improvements. Not only did Peterson teach me to work hard at everything I do, but he also helped me re find my love for football, and that’s why he inspires me.
cornerback their ever was and it will be that way for awhile. That is why I picked Deion Sanders
Deion Sanders, also known as Prime Time, is probably one of the most successful athletes in the sports world. ...of people look at Walter Payton as one of the greatest running backs of all time, but in my eyes he was also an inspiration, and a role model.
What is a Role Model? A role model is someone that inspires you and someone that you are interested in learning more about. According to Studymode.com, Ray Lewis was born May 15, 1975 and is a linebacker who has played for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL since 1996. Lewis has been selected to eleven Pro Bowls and been named an Associated Press All-Pro nine times. He won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2000 and 2003; he was the sixth player to win the award multiple times. He was also the second linebacker to win the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award and the first linebacker to win the award on the winning Super Bowl team. Ray Lewis is a great NFL defensive man and has broken records throughout the history of NFL. Not once did he not give up or not try hard enough. He always tried and played at his best. Being the man that he is, he may have inspired men and young boys around the country to push themselves through each and every practice despite the pain they may have experienced the next day just to continue in the sport that they know and love.
In a person’s life, one must overcome obstacles that have the potential to either negatively or positively impact their future. Whether it is a serious obstacle, such as being involved with drugs, or a minor obstacle, such as procrastinating an important essay for the night before it is due, the choices people make can influence the way they live their lives. In Wes Moore’s inspiring non-fiction book, The Other Wes Moore, two boys with the same name start off living a few blocks away from one another, but turn out to be completely different individuals. At first, they were both troublemakers, getting in trouble with the law. However, as time progressed, the author, Wes Moore, became a Rhodes scholar and quite successful, while the other Wes Moore was sentenced to life in prison. The difference between these two men was the surrounding influences that shaped their growth as people. In a person’s growth, the most important factors are a positive role model in a positive environment because a positive role model will provide the path to success and will aid that person in achieving prosperity.
Nathan Ross “Nate” Jackson, went to Menlo College in California, it is a small school with about 750 students. Nate was on their football team from 1999-2001 and was the star of the team. He went undrafted to the San Francisco 49ers in 2002. Then was traded to the Denver Broncos and was on their team from 2003-2008 (six seasons). He was not a high caliber player, but he was on the first team, so he got to experience what the NFL was really like. Nate, is also the author of “Slow Getting Up: A Story of N.F.L. Survival from the Bottom of the Pile.” This book is all about the NFL experience, and what it is like to survive in the NFL. So, when it comes to his credibility, Nate knows firsthand what it feels like to be on the bottom on the pile, and what it is like getting hit while in midair attempting to catch the
So years after Joe retires the NFL is introduced to many new QBs, but none could live up to the legend of Joe Cool until the New England Patriots selected a tall, lanky kid from Michigan in the 6th round of
Have you ever wonder how these four professional football players got famous, how many states they had put up on the board , what teams they had played for , and last of all how much money they got payed for their contracts. The national football league is split into many categories. The first two are called the national football conference and the second one is called the american football conference. There are thirty two teams in the national football league or for short the nfl.My thesis statement is how Jarvis Landry got famous, how did Michael Vick become a all star qb, how did Deion Sanders become a hall of famer cornerback ,and last of all how did Jason Taylor become a hall of famer defensive end.The teams they had played for
As a kid, I was born and raised to love the great game of baseball. Many young kids have had dreams to become professional athletes, and achieve prestigious awards/ titles. Like many kids I’ve always dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player. As a younger kid with my head in the clouds, I never really knew what it was like to put my actual blood, sweat, and tears into something I loved, until my worst season I had ever played. This whole story starts in the beginning of my ninth grade baseball season. It started out different from every other year because, of course I was a freshman. This was the first year I had ever practiced with the varsity squad, it was much more difficult, but I still figured I was going to do great. After weeks
"He is a complete football player," Jim Finks, the former Chicago Bears general manager who drafted Payton, said. "He is better than Jim Brown. He is better than O.J. Simpson."
Before any football player can say they are for sure going to play in the NFL for a career, they might want to consider how likely that will happen. The statistics of a football player going to the NFL are extremely low. The chances of playing college football at the levels of division one (D1) or division two (D2) on scholarship are also slim. The D1 or D2 college levels of football produce the most NFL players. Most high school football players want to play in D1 or D2 football, but the reality is that barely any of them will. There are an estimated 1,093,234 senior high school football players in the United States (“Football”). The astonishing reality is that just 4.2% of those 1,093,234 seniors in high school will play college football at the D1 or D2 level (“Football”). If a football player does get their scholarship to play college football they should feel grateful that they are one of the roughly 45,916 to accomplish that (“Football”). The statistics are now even lower for a college football player that is trying to make it to the NFL. There are only 15,842 college football players eligible for the NFL Draft, which are juniors and seniors (“Football”). Just the tiny number of 1.6% is how many of those draft eligible players will play in the NFL. Many coll...
When you really lay out all of his attributes both on and off the field you really start to see the bigger picture. Not only is this guy one of the best in the NFL now but he could be one of the best wide receivers in the history of the league. He will not be remembered solely as an amazing talent however, he will also be remembered for his of the field activities. Such as helping out the paralyzed kid in need of a friend in tough times, or helping kids in need of a role model. For everything that he has shown me to this point, even after he is old and done with football he will be a great man to others in his society in the future. His story goes to show all people adults, and kids alike that if you keep a good head on your shoulders, and never quit you can achieve your biggest and wildest dreams.
Sadly, my family was going through financial struggles, forcing me out of the school zone I was destined to attend. When I discussed the situation wih the high school coaches they told me they would pick me up from my new house and take me to school every day; with the condition that I’d play football for them all throughout high school. Even though this was illegal I continued to go ahead and accept the offer. My first year of high school was so exciting that it went by in the blink of an eye. Sophomore year came and the clock ticked closer and closer to when everything would change. I started in varsity as a corner back but soon would have big shoes to fill as the team’s quarterback. Not only did this require skill and hard work but the ability and qualities of a leader as well. Ultimately, playing this position helped me acquire traits that would soon be necessary for success. That year was tough for us because the majority of the team consisted of inexperienced players, however the coaches knew I would be the one to lead the

Who comes to mind when thinking about who the best role model is? Is it a friend? A sibling? Possibly a parent? For me, When thinking about who the best role model to have is, one person in particular comes to mind. She has been there my entire life, has seen me through thick and thin, and always supports me in everything that I do. The person that I consider to be the best role model is my older sister, Kelly. To this day my sister and I aren't joined at the hip, and I don't speak to her everyday, but my sister is still one of my closest friends. Growing up we saw things differently, but as I grew up and saw my sister go through life with a confidence still unrivaled, I realized she was the one person who I could count on to pick me up when
