A Pathway to Citizenship Immigration is the international movement of people into a destination country of which they are not natives or where they do not possess citizenship in order to settle or reside there, especially as permanent residents or naturalized citizens, or to take-up employment as a migrant worker or temporarily as a foreign worker. Immigration affects the size, distribution, and composition of the U.S. population. Immigration has been such a big issue for a while in the United States. This topic played such a big role in the last election we had. Our current president doesn't believe in a pathway to citizenship. The millions of people who have waited for this process would win nothing in return because if a road to citizenship is on it’s way, people who broke the law are basically getting rewarded for their actions. People coming to the U.S. can lead to security threats because there is no record of this person here. There’s a possibility some of these people in the u.s. Illegally could be terrorist.
