Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Selection Committee, Hello, I am Destiny Stevenson and I am writing this letter to you about why or why not Pat Boone should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because I am taking a class about the history of rock and roll. I believe he should not be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because he had taken most of his hits from multiple R&B artists. I believe that Pat Boone should not be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since he took most of his hits from R&B artists and made them more watered down, as previously stated above. According to the article we had read in class, he did not give credit to the artists that he took the songs from but moreso to his record company that had picked out the songs
He was later inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962. Jackie Robinson should not only be recognized for his on-field accomplishments, but for what it took for him to get there as well. Throughout all of the racism in America and baseball, he endured it and pushed through it to set himself up for ultimate success. He endured the hardships of being the only African-American in the league at the time and taking all the hate from the racists, while still putting up remarkable numbers. Even as a white man during the time of integration in baseball, you could have nothing but respect for Jackie Robinson.
Imagine waking up to beautiful freshwater streams and wildlife foraging through the mountainside. This is what citizens of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee get to wake up to ever day. Pigeon Forge is a small town near the border of South Carolina. It sits along the edge of the Cherokee National Forest and on the west side of Little Pigeon River. It is not only located in a beautiful area, but also a thriving area economically speaking. Overall, Pigeon Forge is a family friendly place where people can not only live in a beautiful city, but also exciting environment.
Cab Calloway is definitely a singer and dancer to remember. Not only was Cab’s music innovative, but he broke racial barriers and was very successful financially during the Great Depression. Cab forever changed jazz music with his own unique style known as “scatting.” Without Cab Calloway, also known as “The Hi-De-Ho Man”, hip-hop and modern jazz may have never existed.
There are very many people who vote for players to go in the Hall of Fame, but many people may have the same opinion as Tom Verducci who stated,
Pete Rose can petition Baseball’s powers to get off the list. Once he is off the list, he can be considered for the Hall of Fame (Ritter). No one is sure if it is Pete Rose’s goal in life to be in the Hall of Fame. It might be hard, but it is possible that Rose can be taken off the ineligible list. For many African-Americans, Smith was more than just a blues singer, thanks to an aggressive personality and often-excessive lifestyle. It seemed as if she was describing black culture in the 1920s through her songs. Smith recorded at least 160 songs for Columbia Records from 1923 to 1933. Many of these songs are blues classics. Bessie Smith was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. Bessie Smith had a huge voice capable of strength and softness, which she left behind on all her recordings.
Jimi is today acknowledged as a musical intellectual. He is highly recognized for his precision and speed while playing his music. He did not care what kind of feedback he got whether it was negative or positive, all Jimi wanted to do was play his music the way he wanted. He created his music as one of the melodic elements and people went crazy for him and his ability to play, sing and dance all at the same time. As a rock singer and guitarist, Jim Hendrix won several awards for being a major contribution to rock music during his time. It is widely agreed that he was among one of the most influential musicians in the history of rock music. As the star of the rock music during his time, Jimi did not just play music but improved the image of rock music as well. While it is the dream of every artist to make a contribution throughout his or her work and performances, not all of them were successfully able to make their dreams to come true. Through Jimi’s singing and performances, he is today acknowledged for the impact that he had on the rock music we now have today. Great African American musicians of the40’s, 50’s, especially 60’s and 70’s, like Jimi Hendrix for example, where not have always been in the headlines for the right reasons. They, Hendrix especially, were not always forefront leaders in movement like the Civil Rights era like Malcolm X or Martin Luther where..
