The Effects of Sodium Chloride on the Cooking Time of Pasta

When you eat pasta your first thoughts are usually of Italy, a huge boisterous family dinner, or a romantic dinner for two. Though you think of these things there are several misconceptions and myths about pasta. The origins of pasta have been debated throughout the years. Making pasta has adapted over the years as more tools and equipment are made to make the process easier. Pasta is made from different ingredients and also comes in all shapes and sizes. It can be cooked into several different types of dishes. It is even used outside of the normal dinner routine.
One belief about the origin of pasta is that it dates back to 1271 in China not Italy. It is said that pasta was actually brought to Italy from China by Marco Polo during the 13th century (Davidson, 1999). Marco Polo mentions pasta in his writings …show more content…

One type of pasta is Pappardelle. Pappardelle is “a wide egg noodle with Tuscan origins, pappardelle is often served with hearty meat sauces, as in Plated’s Winter Ragout Pappardelle recipe (Plated, 2017).” “Farfalle, also called bow tie pasta for its shape, farfalle (the Italian word for butterfly) makes a great cold pasta salad, and can also dress up a warm bowl of meat and veggies, as in our Farfalle with Fresh Sausage and English Peas recipe (Plated, 2017).” There are many types of pasta like shells, campanelle, bucatini, angel hair, and Gnocchi. Gnocchi is a different type of pasta in that majority of time pasta is made from bread and water while Gnocchi is made from potato. There also many brands of pasta. Therefore, Paul Henderson’s goal is a defining moment for Canada in the twentieth century becauseit provided Canada with the opportunity to evolve hockey, proved that Canada and our democratic society were superior to the USSR and their communist society, and brought citizens together to unify Canada as a nation.

    Scott Hightower’s poem “Father” could be very confusing to interpret. Throughout almost the entirety of the poem the speaker tries to define who his father is by comparing him to various things. As the poem begins the reader is provided with the information that the father “was” all of these things this things that he is being compared to. The constant use of the word “was” gets the reader to think ‘how come the speaker’s father is no longer comparable to these things?’ After the speaker reveals that his father is no longer around, he describes how his father impacted him. Details about the father as well as descriptions of the impacts the father has distraught on the speaker are all presented in metaphors.
