On November 9, 2013 I witnessed a band called Paramore perform at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia. This performance was one of the stops in their tour called The Self-Titled Tour. The tour also consist of two other bands called Metric and Hellogoodbye. The tour began in Bangkok, Asia on February 12, 2013. And it will end on March 11, 2014 on small island in Miami called the Great Stirrup Cay. Even though Paramore music is given the characteristic of being emo because most of their fans are emo and the image the band members have while performing, its identity is an alternative rock band that combines punk rock music with pop music. Paramore is identified as religious because their creativity and inspiration comes from their Christian religion and is then shown in their lyrics.
Paramore’s band members consist of lead vocalist Hayley Williams, bassist Jeremy Davis, and guitarist Taylor York. It all started in 2004 when a teenage girl named Hayley Williams moved from Meridian, Mississippi to Franklin, Tennessee (Paramore). There she meet brothers Josh Farro and Zac Farro at a home school program. Hayley joined a small band with the brothers and Jeremy Davis. At the time the brothers and Jeremy were not sure if they wanted to be in a band with a female being the lead vocalist. After some time the band was formed with Hayley being the lead vocalist, Josh Farro was on the guitar, Zac Farro was on the drums, and Jeremy Davis was the bassist. In 2010 Josh Farro and Zac Farro decided to leave the band and were replaced with Taylor York, guitarist, and Ilan Rubin was the new drummer (Paramore).

... alternative rock band and religious. I consider myself to be an outsider to alternative rock music culture. I listened to alternative rock music in the past when I was a child, when I believe it was more popular. I used to listen to Paramore back in 2005 when they just started releasing music. Know I listen to hip-hop and rap music which is the most popular music today. I am not completely an outsider though because I still listen to some current rock music and I still listen to the old music that I liked when I was a child. I believe I still understand and am up to date on what is going on in this music culture. Paramore’s is currently on The Self-Titled Tour traveling all over the world showing their identity to the rest of the world. Paramore has transferred from a struggling band to a successful alternative rock band that includes their religion in their band.

    Paramore’s mix of emo-pop and alternative rock & roll eventually made them stars on both sides of the Atlantic ocean, they began their career in Franklin, Tennessee, where Hayley Williams met brothers Josh and Zac Farro after moving to town from Mississippi with her family in 2004. Already a powerful vocalist at the age of 13, Williams signed with Atlantic Records as a solo artist, but conflicted with the label over the direction of her career and genre of music she was supposed to play. Seeking to form her own band, Hayley convinced Atlantic Records to let her piece together a full lineup. Lead guitarist and backing vocalist Josh and drummer Zac Farro were called in for the job, as were rhythm guitarist Jason Bynum and bassist Jeremy Davis. John Janick, CEO and co-founder of the “Fueled by Ramen”, a Florida-based recording label with a strong emo-pop and alternative rock acts, was amazed by their sound and decided to go to one of their live performances in Orlando, Florida, to see them playing live. After he saw these young musical talents, John invited them for a smaller private performance where he said he wanted to sign them. To help attract a younger audience, Atlantic decided to co-sign the band with Fueled by Ramen in 2005. Holding this amazing chance in their hands, band didn't want to waste precious time and started to record their debut album. At that stage, Jeremy, the bass player, unfortunately had to leave the band citing personal reasons.
