In the Panyee football club storie one kid has the idea to start a soccer team. But there's very little room and lots of the people don’t like the idea. But they were very creative and managed to pull things off. They used small pieces of wood that wasn’t used in the village to make a small floating pitch. It was small slippery and had nails sticking out. Because it was small it gave them very good footwork which helped them get to the semi finals. They also didn’t know if they were good enough to join. But they did it anyway with their awesome skills and great shooting skills the blew passed the first round and made it to the semi finals. This shows that they are creative. When their playing in the semi final game it was hard because their
shoes were filled with hard and it was harder to move around. So they took off their shoes because the ground would be wet and slippery because their small pitch was wet and slippery and they ended up playing a lot better after the took of their shoe this shows that they were creative. In the panyee football club video I learned that sometimes you have to very creative to work through some of your challenges. It is not always easy getting through challenges but these guys didn’t quit and kept trying until they got through them.
Warren St.John reports on the story of one woman who impacted her community in more ways than she probably realized. Luma Mufleh is a young woman originally from Jordan, who came to America for college and moved to Clarkston, Georgia. As a lover of soccer, she worked at the YMCA until she met a group of boys who showed more passion for the sport than anyone she had ever coached before. These kids were the refugees whose families had to move to America to escape wars in their homelands. They were looking for better place to live and economic opportunities. These kids and their families were caught somewhere between the cultures of their native homes and the new ways of life that was presented by America. Luma noticed the natural talent in all of these kids. She noticed the love for the game of soccer in these kids. She made a team called the Fugees. Fugees came from the refugees. Luma trained the kids with the strict discipline like mandatory practice, cardio and tough attitude. She told if someone misses more two game sessions you are off the team (St.John 109). On the field, Luma faced bigger challenges. “When Luma told kids to divide up into the groups for drills, they would instinctively divide themselves according to their ethnic backgrounds or common languages. In scrimmages, boys would overlook open teammates to pass their own kind. And each group, she learned, had its own prejudices toward others” (St.John 60).
The panyee boys build a pitch to entertain themselves with by working together: At the time of 1:10 they decided that they should build their own pitch, they showed this by the narrator stating: “We figured we’d have to make our own space.” Before this point, they decided to make a football team. They started cheering loudly and a villager came out and laughed at them because they had no space. So they collected withered fishing rafts and aged wood from around the village, and they worked after school to work on their pitch, a pitch is a soccer playing field. The boys amazingly made their own goals and their own pitch. This shows me that they worked together as a team to create their

Youth Soccer has evolved into a fiercely competitive arena. More and more children are leaving recreational leagues to play in highly competitive select leagues. Select leagues are made up of teams, which players must tryout or be selected to play for. I had the unfortunate task of being an evaluator at such a tryout. Fifty ten-year-old boys had come out for a three day tryout in which forty five of them were placed on three teams. Cuts were made on the field and for those boys who had made a team it was a very exciting, but for the five boys who were cut it was absolutely heartbreaking. Had the children been older they might have been able to deal with the disappointment better, but for most of them it was their first real experience with public "failure". Select leagues have the potential to teach and promote important life skills such as hard work,...
Two teams are on the court racing for the ball. The gym is suffocatingly hot and, the students are flailing their arms in the air. The game is a mix of basketball and soccer. Gym class has begun. Blue and yellow jerseys fly throughout the gym with tiny sixth graders inhabiting them. The Yellow team scores and a player picks up the ball forcefully, ready to score once more . The Blue team runs across the gym back and forth like birds stuck in a cage. As the Yellow team scores the heads of the discouraged Blue team hang in disappointment. . The Perspiration is scattered on the bodies of the lively children. The Yellow team begins running for the ball and now looks like a pack of wild animals hunting their prey. They run fiercely towards their victims, each one aiding the next to achieve one goal, to kill. Wisst the sound of the whistle halts the game. Water drips from the water fountain onto the floor . The thirsty children flee the gym. Halftime
They have to use their hips and elbows and legs to control the ball to go into the hoops. Most of the religions only allowed two to three people on the court for each team and they could only be males. The sport was too rough for women to be playing. In fact, players often wore helmets, kneepads, elbow pads, chest protectors and gloves. Only the goalie in soccer of modern day sports has to wear gloves and that’s not really for protection. Football players have to wear pads but our football is about half the size of the ball they are using. The ball can range anywhere from ten to thirty centimeters in diameter and can weigh anywhere between five hundred grams to three and a half kilograms. The major differences in these two sports is the losers were killed and if they were decapitated the skulls were put on display in a cabinet beside the court. If the losers were not killed, they were tied up like a ball and pushed down a flight of stairs. Also the article said that warriors and captives were often forced to play the

A great many of the passes went wide, but all the amateur footballers, although they must have been very tired, played with huge enthusiasm.”

The game of football is an essential determining factor that turns boys into men, and every boy at some point should learn to play the game. Not for the game itself, but for the things it teaches about working hard to achieve a goal and how to find another way to reach that goal if failure ensues the first try. The fundamentals of football were drilled into me as a three year old, along with tremendous off season workouts and being able to coach little league football and passing down my knowledge to others, are the key factors that lead to my breakout season and being one of the best players on the team.
