Panthers History On October 26,1993, NFL owners selected the Carolina Panthers as the 29th franchise team since 1976. Fans were wildly excited hearing this news. “This is a dream come true for me and my panthers and for the 10 million people in the Carolinas," said Carolina Panthers Owner/Founder Jerry Richardson, who became just the second former player to own an NFL team along with George Halas of the Chicago Bears. The "dream" began on July 16, 1987 when Richardson met in Charlotte with a group of interested parties to discuss the feasibility of entering the multi-city competition for two NFL expansion franchises. On December 15, Richardson officially announced an NFL franchise bid for the Carolinas. One of the first orders of business was to choose a stadium site. Locations in North and South Carolina were considered. On December 15, …show more content…
U.S. Sens. Jesse Helms of North Carolina and Ernest Hollings of South Carolina lobbied NFL owners on the Carolinas behalf. Likewise, North Carolina Gov. Jim Martin and South Carolina Gov. Carroll Campbell formed a blue-ribbon committee of leading citizens in both states. Fans demonstrated their enthusiasm by selling out preseason games in Raleigh, NC in 1989, Chapel Hill, NC in 1990 and Columbia, SC in 1991. At the League owners meeting on March 18, 1992, the NFL reduced the list of expansion candidate cities from eleven to seven with the Carolinas making the cut. Two months later, the NFL narrowed the list of expansion hopefuls to five communities – Baltimore, St. Louis, Memphis, Jacksonville and the Carolinas. However, on October 20, 1992, NFL owners decided to delay the expansion vote until the fall of 1993 because of a labor dispute between the League and the players. Fortunately, on January 6, 1993, the League and the players approved a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. On March 23, 1993, the expansion race officially

“The Green Bay Packers are a non-profit corporation held by the citizens of Green Bay to run it’s football team”,who I think are the best, arguably are the most storied franchise in the National Football League, were organized on Aug,11, 1919, in the dingy second-floor editorial rooms of the old Green Bay Press-Gazette building, located on Cherry Street in downtown Green Bay. Never imagining what might become of the semipro football team being formed that day, nobody documented who was there or how many were on hand. There had been no announcement of the meeting beforehand, and the Press-Gazette provided no details about it the day after.Whether a full complement of players attended or if it was simply a

Paul Tagliabue was appointed the NFL's commissioner in 1989 succeeding Pete Rozelle. Many believed Pete Rozelle to be the standard of measure when considering a new commissioner. Pete Rozelle was believed to have had the vision and leadership to guide the NFL to a new level. Paul took over the NFL just as it concluded a decade of two work stoppages and the embarrassing "scab football". NFL owners began leaving their traditional franchise homes in search of newer stadiums and bigger pay markets. Paul was viewed as being out of touch because of his reactive nature, management-by-crisis style, inability to form cohesion among team owners, and his faulty public relations skills (Greenfield).
Municipal Grant Park Stadium now known as Soldier Field was built in 1924 to dedicate those who served in War World I. Municipal Grant Park Stadium was built as a multipurpose sports venue. It held many events such as ski-jumping competitions, Dempsey vs. Tunney, musical concerts, religious gatherings, and World Cup soccer. The main event for Municipal Grant Park Stadium was stock car racing. It was not until the NFL ruled that stadiums must seat over 50,000 people that the Chicago Bears began to play in Soldier Field.

The Dallas Cowboys, America’s football team, one of the most well known professional football franchises in the sport’s history. The Cowboys own five super bowl titles, which were won in ’71, ’77, ’92, ’93 and ’95. They are also home to 19 renowned individuals who have been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame including standout football stars Tony Dorsett, Emmit Smith, and Troy Aikman. Established in 1960, the Cowboys have been a dominating force on the field and still continue to produce to this day. Forbes wrote, “The Cowboys franchise value reaches over 1.85 billion and are listed as the third most valued sports team in the world”, (Page 1). With all of this hype and world wide recognition the powerhouse from Dallas needs a venue just as prominent as the team itself as well as having the capability to hold all the weight the Cowboys name carries.
Currently, media coverage is putting pressure on the NFL and not letting them deal with bigger issues. There is a lack of leadership with the NFL and Roger Goodell. Goodell is not taking things the right way. Teams are losing players because of their crimes and instead of dealing with that
Going to a Carolina Panthers football game and it was great! I used sight, hearing, smelling, feeling, and tasting when I went. Out of all the NFL games I have been to, this was by far my favorite. There was so much to do when I went there.

Prospects are invited to be at the event or they can decline and stay at home. Before being drafted, mostly all of the draft prospects will receive a phone call by the owner or any of the coaching staff to let them know they have been selected in the draft. The phone call usually last about 1-2 minute congratulating the player and giving the player directions on what to do next, such as if they need to catch a plane to head to team facilities. In Matt Uffords’ article “The History of the NFL Draft explained in about 2 minutes” has a video of him explaining about the NFL Draft and its origins. He stated “The crappy teams back then, mainly the Eagles (Philadelphia) complain that all the college best graduating college player were just signing with the teams that were already
At the beginning of the season if you told a South Carolina fan that they would be a win away from a bowl game they wouldn’t have taken you serious. Then they also tell you that South Carolina would have a chance at winning the SEC East they would have then laughed at you. Even with the addition of Will Muschamp, South Carolina was still a year or two away from even being considered a serious threat in the SEC. Now they are win and a shake of fairy dust away from making the trip to the Georgia Dome in December.
The Cleveland Browns and the Chicago Bears need to make better decisions.Well first off the NFL draft is a great way to rebuild your NFL team or add on to it , for example the Chicago Bears traded up all the way to the number two overall draft pick. I think if they just would stayed up at the number eleven overall pick they would of been just fine, now that is a problem!
Some things that are sold by college football teams that promote their star players are jerseys. Jerseys are the number one thing sold by teams in college football today. Although it does not have that specific players name on the jersey, the fans still buy the jersey because of that star player. Some fans even go as far as putting that players name on the back of the jersey themselves. With the sale of jerseys being the leading revenue source for the teams, people believe that the players should see some of this money. The fans think that all the money that is made off of a player’s name, should be put into a trust fund for when they are out of college
