Pablo Escobar is one of the most notorious drug lords ever to live. Being in control for of the Sinaloa cartel Pablo Escobar made millions of dollars coming from trafficking cocaine and many other drugs. Escobar was born on December 1, 1949 in antioquia, Colombia born to the couple of Abel de Jesus Escobar Echeverri and Hermilda Gaviria. A modest family including 2 other siblings Pablo was known for being ambitious to raise himself up from his modest beginnings. Escobar from an early age had a dream to become the president of Colombia yet became a petty thief which included him stealing cars before he got into the smuggling business. Being an important part in the “Marlboro Wars” he a major part in the smuggling of cigarettes. This showed him many important things he needed to learn in order to become what he wanted. Once the cocaine market flourished Escobar saw the opportunity to rise to the top. Colombia was the perfect place for this since it was close Bolivia and Peru which thrived in the coca cultivation. Pablo Escobar in about 17 years his net worth was believed to be $25 billion, while “El Chapo’s “net worth is $1 billion. Pablo Escobar only dealt with cocaine while “El Chapo” deals with cocaine, marijuana, heroin, and methamphetamine which should mean that Guzman should make more money yet he has made little to nothing compared to Escobar. Comparing the assassinations they have committed Guzman has reportedly killed about 3,000 people while Escobar is guilty for the deaths of over 10,000 people. Control over the US drug market is important to drug lords this is why Escobar took control of about 80% and Guzman having control of 50% of the market
