The use of PEDs has been heavily debated since it’s been banned from the olympics in 1967 which resulted in many sport leagues to follow and test their players for PEDs.
The ethic opinions of PED is mostly one side for the public but split in expert side. The public ethic opinion is against athletes and people using PEDs because it is considered cheating in the public eyes. PED does enhance the user to improve in any form of activity performance. It lets them improve in such a shorter amount of time than if they train their bodies naturally. It helps them to be in a better shape than their competitors. But it’s cheating because the competitors didn’t consume the drug also which gives the PED user an unfair advantage. It is like a kid who studys for a test for a whole week and gets a 85 on it. But the other kids doesn’t study and cheats on it, and gets a 95 on it. People wouldn’t like that and the person who cheated didn’t deserve that grade that they received. People wouldn’t trust them, respect, or believe them. It’s the same for someone who trained a whole year for a event but comes in second to the person who took PEDs and barely trained for it. People wouldn’t respect the person who won and used PED and would believe that the person who came in second place should’ve won instead. Also taking PEDs comes with a risk to the user health in the long run in some cases. In extreme cases it may even result in death. The expert opinion is more split. The experts who are against it agree with the public opinion. But the experts who disagree say that they should be allowed to take it. Some doctors and athletes say it should be allowed because it allows the user to get better even faster. They also say that if everyone takes them, then it’s a even playing field because everyone is using the same advantaging which is making it fair. They also say that athletes are under a lot of pressure to be great and that PEDs help them become greater even faster. They say that every
athlete should be able to decide if they want to use it to be great and live up to expectations. But we also must not forget that not many athletes make it to the professional leagues, college or even high school teams. It is a privilege to be a athlete in these leagues and teams, and every player should be professional and honest. They’re the few that made it and are allowed to make a living from their sport that they have so much passion and love for. They have the talent and work ethic which is the only advantage they need to be great. Using PEDs should stay banned and be considered cheating because it is giving someone an unfair advantage. It also may/have rob the other person who work so hard in a honest way to be the one on top. They get robbed from this and it’s unfair to them. But the biggest issue why PEDs should stay being ban is that it cause a lot of health issues like hair loss, liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, depression or suicidal tendencies, stomach pain, nausea, headaches, and increase heart rate which can result in the user death. This is why PEDs should be ban and no one should use them because of all the health issues which can result in death. It’s better to put hard work in the gym or train than to take short cuts that may result in possible death. Also to be the best that you can be, be healthy and proud of what you are and have.
The problems with performance enhancing drugs are that they give the user unfair advantages over other athletes and come with many health risks such as baldness. Steroid use can result in very substantial legal consequences and can ruin the user’s reputation. There are many alternatives to steroids but not all of them are safe. Different organizations have different rules on steroids, but in most cases, the user can get suspended, fined, or even both. Various types of steroids can have various short-term or long-term side effects. There are several types of steroids, the most popular ones being anabolic steroids. Historically, steroids have been around for many years, but the debate surrounding them started recently, more specifically a few decades ago. An important term to know is anabolic steroids which are made to work with the user’s muscle mass. Another term to know is clarified by Ida Walker, author of the book, Steroids: Pumped Up and Dangerous, published by Mason Crest Publishers in 2008, defines, peliosis hepatis is a rare condition in which cysts filled with blood form in the liver, if the cysts were to pop then internal bleeding would occur. A positive argument about steroids is stated by Adrianne Blue, author of the essay, “Performance Enhancing Drugs Should Be Legal,” published in the book Athletes and Drug Use, published in 2009, disputes, “Blue concludes that legalizing performance- enhancing drugs can protect athletes from dangerously abusing them.” The utilization of performance enhancing drugs has left a giant scar on sports and has compromised the achievements of many athletes; therefore, they are transforming the sports world into a drug filled world.
Performance enhancing drugs affect so many people that don’t even realize it. Fans of the game, coaches, university leaders and of course athletes are the major groups of people that can be affected the most from the usage of performance enhancing drugs. Numerous studies have stated that an athletes drug use in sport could be credited to a complex interaction of personal and environmental factors (Judge). Athletes hold themselves to high standards for themselves or maybe even family members they must provide for. Athlete will do whatever it takes to strive in their sport because in most cases personal success can lead to better opportunities such as the National Football League or maybe even the National Basketball Association. Overall, individuals can be affected in a positive manner through the use of performance enhancing drugs. Furthermore, the use of performance enhancing can do nothing but help athletes. Also, some college athletes need performance enhancing drugs more than others. Not every athlete comes from a well provided family and knowing that can plaque athletes to where they’ll do whatever it takes to be successful. With this in mind it would totally be unfair if only one or a couple of athlete used enhancing drugs however if every athlete were granted the right to use performance enhancing drugs there
Human beings have always had a strong competitive nature, and many people have a inclination towards achieving fame and glory. Professional sporting events measure the great spirit, unique natural talents, and competitive nature of humans as they attempt to heroically represent the entire race. Often times humans search for the ultimate advantage in sports to put themselves above and beyond the other athletes. Unfortunately, some athletes turn to unnatural agents to supplement their own natural talents. They often ignore the side effects of the drugs and more importantly ignore the damage they do to how they are perceived and how people view the game. Athletes who use performance enhancing drugs, also known as PEDs, create a monstrous persona,

The use of Physically Enhancing Drugs (PED) in baseball is getting ridiculous and is setting a bad example for our youth. With an ever increasing physical demand to be the best player on the field some players think they need the extra edge to pull ahead of their competition. It is believed to be that only half the players in Major League Baseball (MLB) don’t use PED’s to get an edge on their opponents (Schreiber). Those who love the game and want the game to stay pure are starting to speak out and stop the use of illegal PED’s in Baseball. Those who want to evolutionize the game want PED use legalized. What are the pro’s and con’s of PED use in baseball?
Performance Enhancing Drugs should not be allowed in sports. PEDs are a form of cheating. Not only are they cheating, but they can harm the athlete's body too. There are many long-term health risks we don't even know about! Finally, PED’s make the game unfair because the kids with natural talent are not able to showcase their great skills.
Some of the side effects of PEDs include balding, worsening acne, and infertility. Other side effects can be more severe. Prolonged use may lead to violent behavior. A condition commonly known as “Roid Rage”. The tragic story of Lyle Alzado shows that perhaps the worst side effect is death. Lyle Alzado, died due to a brain tumor that doctors believe is directly linked to his admitted use of steroids. And yet countless athletes put their very lives at risk daily in search of sensational stats.
Bad effects of steroids Each day, professional and amateur athletes and body builders thrive to achieve their goals and dreams of winning gold medals or representing their country worldwide. The sports or games in which they participate require physical strength, athleticism and stamina, and due to the tough competition they face, some of these athletes decide to take performance enhancing drugs, an act called doping. The most famous of these drugs are anabolic steroids, which are, as defined by the Controlled Substances Act issued by the Food and Drugs Administration under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, any drug or hormonal substance chemically and pharmacologically related to testosterone that promotes muscle growth. Patients with medical prescriptions are allowed to take steroids to treat some diseases, such as delayed puberty. However, the use of anabolic steroids should be stopped because it comes with high risk on the level of physical and mental health.
Have you ever wanted to be a doctor? Do you like kids? Well if you answered yes to these questions a pediatrician would be a great career choice for you.
Drugs bring out the flaws in people. The worst decisions can ruin a life. Everyday drug users had the potential to become more. Sports increase the need for faster players allowing more opportunities in the drug world. Usage of steroids is a sickness and not acceptable on or off the field. By cheating your way to the top you crush people who equally worked hard as well. Athletes should be tested to prevent the unfair circumstances many find themselves in. Players should not be permitted to take any illegal drugs that could improve their status on the team. Sports is being born with drive and talent not taking a pill to make you unnaturally a great athlete.
After taking PED 116, I learned a lot about myself and how to properly take care of my body. The most interesting lesson we did in lecture was the PowerPoint about nutrition. It was really eye opening to me seeing the number of calories and fat in most restaurant meals. This class has made me more aware of the things I eat. What I though was healthy, like a salad, could have just as many calories as a hamburger when you add dressing and other toppings to it. As a college student, it is sometimes hard for me to go for the healthy food options. Sometimes I am so busy, I would go to the drive thru instead of planning ahead and packing an apple in the morning. What I learned about myself is that my eating habits during the weekend are significantly
The problems for males is that PEDs gives them breast tissue development, shrinks testicles, Cause baldness, and also reduces sperm production. For females it deepens their voice, hair grows more everywhere, and also ends breast development. PEDS also cause blood cancer, strokes, heart attacks, thyroid problems, and for men feminization. These drugs are easy to take but can also easily kill you. Once you start seeing some of your body changes, you will want to have more. Once you get addicted you might see some bad physical appearances. People who take anabolic steroids should know they come with major physical side effects. Once you start getting those appearances and everybody notices it will be the time your coach or trainer realizes it.

PEDs are substances used by athletes to increase their performance. The use of PEDs in athletic competition dates back to ancient Greece. Athletes use PEDs to run faster, jump higher, and recover at an increased pace.

And youngsters coming into the sport can know that if they are working hard and training hard, they 'll see a true reflection of where they stand and what they can achieve worldwide and not be swayed by people who are cheating.” This was said by Paula Jane Radcliffe, a long-distance runner and Olympian. Cheating in sports is considered to be immoral. In sports there are many different forms of cheating. Whether it is illegal taping, bribes, or foul play, it is never the way to go.
