Explain the relationship between factors and affecting health and wellbeing Heath care practitioners will research the links between certain public health issues and possible causes, triggers or individuals lifestyle choices for example smoking or eating a high cholesterol diet. They do this to be able to advise individuals and prevent them from getting the illness or to find ways on how to treat the illness because they have gained a better understanding of where it comes from. For example researchers found that there was a link between elderly people being susceptible to the flu because their immune system was weaker, to prevent them from getting the virus they would have been immunised and keep away from possibly being exposed to the virus.

Within the care system there are two different routes in to care and these are voluntary care and compulsory care. Voluntary care is when the parent agrees for their child to be placed in to the care system and this care section is under section 76 of the social services and wellbeing act of 2014. Then there is compulsory care and this is when the imposition of a care order is put in place by the authorities. This is under section 31 of the social services and wellbeing act of 2014.

These determinants create a strong foundation for a healthy and proper development of a community (Public Health Agency of Canada, 2013). Beside genetic and life style, that are individual determinants of health, there are many other factors -known as social determinants of health- which are varying even for the people who are living in the same society. They are defined as “social, cultural, environmental, and political factors that can affect the health of individuals” (Rumbold & Dickson-Swift, 2012, p. 40). This assignment will discuss the influence of one of the social determents of health, accessing to health services on the health condition of a specific target group; refugees population in Australia. The Refugee Convention 1951 defines refugees as ‘‘persons outside their country of origin who are unable or unwilling to return because of a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality,

113 Older Adults participated in focus groups where they discussed their use of and attitudes about technology in their home, work, and health care environments. The older adult’s reported significantly more positive attitudes than negative attitudes. Positive attitude were defined as “likes” and negative attitudes were defined as “dislikes”. Positive attitudes were due to how well technology “supported activities, enhanced convenience, and contained useful features.” Negative attitudes were due to what degree the technology “created inconveniences, unhelpful features, and security and reliability concerns.” The results support three notions. First, older adults view the benefits of technology are greater than the costs. Second, they do not support older adult stereotypes relating to their inability to use and fear of technology. Third, in models of technology acceptance, they outline the vital roles of “use and ease of use”. The “digital divide” is the contrast between those who accept new technology and those who do not. According to the article, any product or service that is digital or electronic is known as technology. In order to predict the usage of technology we must understand the factors that affect the acceptance of technology in older adults. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) defined
Social determinants of health has been a large topic for many years and can have a positive and negative effect on individuals, families and communities. (World Health Organisation, 2009) The social determinants of health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age, including the health system. These circumstances are shaped by the distribution of money, power and resources at global, national and local levels, which are themselves influenced by policy choices. Social determinants have many factors and in this essay education will be the main social determinant of health discussed and how this could have an impact on the physical and mental sides of health.
Health Care in the United States is in a crisis. Medical expenditures are highest of any industrialized nation but there are obvious deficiencies. These deficiencies include the way health information is collected and no overall agreement on the best indicators. These work to hinder efforts to improve the system (Johnson, 2011). Measuring public health progress involves measuring what is important (Koh, 2011). This measurement has typically been accomplished by disease surveillance or special reports that summarize disease trends, reported by race/ethnicity or another variable (Koh, 2011). This is why it is crucial for health measurements to track social determinants. Health is always occurring in daily life. It does not just occur in a doctor’s office when your blood pressure is measured, but occurs in our homes, schools, jobs, and churches (Koh, 2011). Even the World Health Organization defines health as “state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely absence of disease” (Koh, 2011).
Health is greatly impacted by the conditions in which people are born, grow and live their lives. These conditions also shaped by unequal distribution of the resources, money and power at local and global levels. Health inequities are a direct reflection of social inequalities (RNAO). The social determinants of health describe how societal conditions affect health. According to “Global Hands - Social Determinants of Health” video, World Health Organization defines early life, stress, social exclusion, social support, employment, addiction, work, food and transport as social determinants of health. Food is the critical determinant of health, as it promotes physical and psychological development, and supports the immune system in fight against diseases. Poor diet, as well as overeating, leads to multiple health problems. Not all communities across the globe have an equal access to food; many people in poor countries get sick and die needlessly from malnutrition (Skolnik, 2008).
We live in a country where we have the privilege of having free universal health care for all citizens. You should not have to worry about your income to protect and save yourself/loved ones from medical issues. People that are unemployed, students, disabled or homeless are covered under the system and do not need to worry about affordability. Although our system is very beneficial, many Canadians suffer from long wait times, limited coverage for additional healthcare services/testing, and safety of food in facilities.
A lot of risk factors and elements are necessary in order to address important health issues and concerns in a certain population. These health issues, whatever it may be, affects an individual and the community, it may be on our own influence or factors outside our control. These social factors can affect health in a direct and indirect manner.
Since the formation of group 4 (High on Health), we have established that we would meet every Tuesday at 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the library. There was a mutual agreement that I would book the rooms and email the confirmation Monday or Tuesday nights for a room in Martin Luther Kind Jr Library. On the very first day, we got together in class, and exchanged email addresses and numbers. We wanted to be able to communicate outside the classroom not just in the classroom. On our first meeting, we introduced ourselves and from there, we learn a bit about each other’s cultures. We all come from very different backgrounds, we talked about our culture, and how far along we are in our degrees. We also took the time to get to know each other each during each meeting.
Health is an important part of your life. You may think that health is something that doesn’t really matter if you’re healthy. Well in this case you would be incorrect. If your don’t take steps to keep healthy it will catch up with you someday. More people who stay healthy and they continue to use their muscles then they won’t become as frail later. Those who stay in shape naturally live longer and they fight sickness better. This healthy state must be maintained in three different categories. This is called The Health Triangle.
