I believe China has a serious fertility decline issue that resulted in the failure to transition their aging demographics. This issue stems from their country 's three decades’ belief that overpopulation is the root of all problems because it taxes natural resources and the economy. In fact, many economists and demographers alike will agree. Ironically, their issue isn’t how fast the population is reproducing, the problem is under population and their inability to replace their aging workforce. The reason that China is facing this struggle is at one time, China had the fastest population growth on earth. In Chapter 13 in the textbook, "Solving Global Problems: Some Options and Courses of Action," Wayne Arnold declares that, "Democracy . . . is a desirable form of government, but it 's not necessarily the most efficient form of government" (qtd. in Robbins 359). Arnold espouses that the authoritarian governments can do things that hurt their people while benefiting business or themselves. If you look at China, the authoritarian government decided it was best to limit the number of children so they could increase the gross domestic product, GDP of their country in the short run. These groups would have to ask permission to enter China, tell the Chinese government what they are going to do there and how long they intend to stay. If they were allowed in the country, they would spread the pro-life message to the people of China. To get the community even more involved I would also try to convince as many people as possible to participate in a foreign student exchange program. Especially, boys to try to coax them to live somewhere else besides China. If a friend facing this issue asked for advice, I would offer a few pointers. First, accept the fact the Chinese women have many options in terms of selecting a life partner. So be prepared to face some serious competition and always put your best foot forward. Second, you can look for women outside China and raise your kids in a foreign country, if you wish.
