Overcoming Obstacles In Francisco Jimenez´s The Circuit

Have you ever had problems to overcome obstacles and you feel you can't do it and just give up? Then maybe you should read one of these stories. You can overcome it just like Panchito in the circuit who has to move constantly moving, farming, and having no friends. To be able to overcome obstacles you need have these characteristics: resilience, be courageous, and adaptability.

In “The Circuit” by Francisco Jimenez,Panchito, a teenage schoolboy from a migrant farm worker family, illustrates a major quality for overcoming obstacles and adaptability. For example,despite constant moving, a longing to be like other,and a poor education, Panchito goes to school, struggles to learn English and befriends a teacher. He does

this even though he is nervous and scared. “I was nervous... I walked into the principal's office.” Furthermore, he evens pushes himself himself to be more resilient or bounce back from his circumstances. “I kept getting angrier and angrier at myself. I should have read.” These parts of the text show how resilient Panchito is, that he is like many who can and do overcome obstacles every day. He was nervous and scared, but conquered his fear, he failed to take advantage of his opportunity to read aloud and improve his english, but Panchito learned from is mistake by getting angry at himself to improve. This was his characteristic resilience speaking, calling out to become a better person despite his adversity. If people are to overcoming obstacles in life,they must have this type of resilience,like panchito.

In The “Civil Rights Activist Dolores Huerta” was a poor migrant worker,illustrates a major for overcoming obstacles and courage. For example she faces racism a lot,she is poor so she doesn't have the nicest house or education. Dolores faced that her parents got divorced and racism towards her. One of her qualities is she is Courageous“ She was beaten by SF Police” and continued to struggled for workers.She tried really hard in school and succeeded even though her family was poor and migrant workers. She ended up becoming a teacher and helping other but decided to quit because she was teaching children who were children of migrant workers. Who suffered but she didn’t like to see people suffer, so she quit. Dolores showed major courage.

Panchito faced difficult challenges but,In The “Against the Odds” Sully Sullenberger faces major adversity and resilience. The challenges he faced was trying to land a plane safely in the Hudson river because a flock of geese hit the engines very soon after takeoff, the engines failed. To save all the people he had to make a decision quick, he made a risky move by landing perfectly onto the Hudson River.
