Many people overcome obstacles in many different ways. Some in a good way, and some in a bad way, Some people feel like they are alone. You are never alone because God is always with you every step of the way. I have had very many obstacles to overcome in my life; some that I am still trying to overcome today. One of the obstacles that I have had to overcome was, wondering why I had to be taken away from my mother and father, and why they couldn't do the right things for me and my sister. Why did they choose the drugs over us? I was so angry in the inside. I'm not the type of person that shows there feelings. Im very friendly and, I always have a smile on my face no matter how i'm feeling. Most of the time no one knows when something is …show more content…
I started getting in trouble at home. Everyday it was something new. I didn't like to listen to my mother and father. I felt like they didn't understand what I was going through, and that they were just being hard on me for no reason. Although I had obstacles there were things that helped me get through them. Playing sports was something that helped me. It kept me busy, and kept my mind from wondering. I played volleyball, basketball, and ran track. One of the sports that really helps me is basketball. Playing basketball is mind relaxing for me. When I play it's like all my problems go away. It is really a lifesaver. My mother is a clean freak, so it is not a chore to clean. It is more like a Must Do. I use to complain a lot about the things I thought were unnecessary to clean, then my mother would say, “ I’m only trying to get you ready for the real world” I finally understood what she meant when I started working at Whataburger last summer. Everything I thought was unnecessary to clean at home, was the exact same thing I had to clean at work. It made me laugh, because I thought my mother was just being mean to us and making us clean everything for no reason. I couldn't wait to tell my mother that she was right and thank
I yelled at them, ignored them, and occasionally did the opposite they told me too. At the time, I thought that made me better than them, but in the end, it got me nowhere. Soon I entered high school and my bratty preteen-self calmed down. However, my parents became stricter on my grades because there was a big milestone that would be coming up in a few years, getting accepted into college. My parents made it very clear that if I did not get a large scholarship to any university, I would have to go to the local community college. That was the last thing I wanted to happen, I wanted out of the house. I now had a strong incentive to do well in school. I wanted to be able to go out on my own and escape their tight grasp on me. I completed year after year, always making “A’s” in my classes. I soon climbed to the top of my school’s ranking system and was at the top of my class. Though, this did not matter to me, I wanted out of my house. At this point, I knew I was not disappointing my parents, they were as proud as can be with a daughter at the top of her class. This was the first time in my life that I felt as if my parents were generally proud of me and my accomplishments. I still however, felt guilty. Even though I was doing it for myself, I felt bad that I wanted to escape my parents. I did not hate them, I just could not stand being under their control
Everyone has difficult obstacles in their lives. I have had a few myself and they each have changed me for the better. My most profound experience was being repeatedly molested as a child. I wasn't aware of exactly what was happening to me. I didn't know being touched was wrong. I just knew how disgusting it made me feel, but I didn't tell anyone at the time. I shared this publicly as an adult to help other parents realize that children need to be protected. It was a long journey to reach to the point where I could speak about my experiences with anyone. These experiences from my childhood affected me deeply; however, I have overcome them, learned from them and I have contributed at a higher level because of them.
Life is a constant evolution. Everyone has problems and everyone goes through things, including me. No one is perfect and life definitely is not easy. I have experienced everything from my grandma being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, losing our house, and connecting with an absent father. I even struggled with anxiety and depression. It has really been a wild journey and now, I’m finally ready to share my views on this roller coaster that I have been on.
It all started when I moved to my new home in River Grove. The process of cleaning and restoring our new home was so satisfying for me. I helped out with the yard work, organizing, and cleaning the entire property inside and outside. Instead of this being a chore, that most people would complain about, it was very pleasing and satisfying to me as if it was almost a hobby. My perfectionist personality made me strive to always have a neat room. I always keep my paperwork, closet, and drawers clean and organized. Over the summer, I helped my mom with her night job. The job consists of cleaning an office building vacuuming, mopping, washing tables and changing garbage. To this day I don’t mind helping my mom clean it has become enjoyable. Most
As a child my parents worried about my educational development. They didn’t know if I was going to be able to keep up with the other children. I was in the third grade and didn’t know any English. I struggled academically my remaining elementary years to catch up to the other children, but it wasn’t long until I exceeded my peers in middle school.
In life, people will always have something to say about you in everything one does in life, either negative or positive, but it’s the moment when you let what is said upon you affect the way you live your life, that when its becomes a problem. I for myself have been victim of so many people saying things about me and letting get into my head, but I had the courage to overcome a lot of obstacles like that. I have struggled with a lot of obstacles in my life some got the better of me while I have been able to overcome most of them. I am writing this essay to give an example of an obstacle which I struggled with for a very long time and I nearly took the best of me, but with time I was able to overcome it.
In life we all face obstacles. The troubles that we face don’t define us, how we overcome the situation is what makes us the people we are today. Throughout my life I have faced many trials and tribulations that I had to overcome with the help of my mother, ofcourse. I was smooth sailing in life until I started high school.
It had come to the attention of my family that I had some sort of psychological problem and something had to be done. I was always labeled as a shy and quiet kid, and like my family I had thought nothing more of my behavior. However, now it had become something more obvious. I had told my parents the kinds of problems I was having. Basically I didn't want to talk to anyone or to be anywhere near anyone I didn't know. I didn't really want to leave my house for any reason for fear that I might have to talk to someone. I was so critical and scrutinizing in relation to myself that I couldn't even enter into a conversation. Everyone seems to have a part of themselves that lends itself to thoughts of pessimism and failure, but mine was something that was in the forefront of my mind at all times. Something telling me that everything I did was a failure, and that anything I ever did would not succeed. Through discussion with my family it was decided that I should move out of my parents house to a place where I could find treatment and get a job. I was to reside with my sister Lisa, her partner Brynn, and their Saint Bernard in Greensboro.
I always start by picking up everyone's plastic cups and disposing them in the trash, while my mother looks around the house to see if someone forgot anything. My siblings help clear the tables and get rid of any extra trash I missed. Then my mother begins to clean her dishes, while my brother moves the heavy furniture back to where they were. While this is happening, my mom tells me to shower so later others can shower and not have to wait on me. When I am in the shower, my mother vacuums the carpet to get rid of the crumbs.
Overcoming Obstacles Throughout a persons life, they are faced with different obstacles, and different challenges of all different types. My life in particular has been full of ups and downs, especially towards my soccer career. In the novel The Pact, three boys, George, Rameck, and Sam, are faced with many obstacles throughout their lives, where they must learn to overcome and achieve great success on their own will power. Essentially, I did the same thing. My soccer career has been one of my most difficult life challenges, creating the person I am today.
As Herbie Hancock once said, “It's part of life to have obstacles. It's about overcoming obstacles; that's the key to happiness.” Perseverance is always a necessity, no matter what your situation may be. Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines perseverance as “continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.” If one never tries to continue on through the struggles of life, then there is no way that they can succeed in anything they try. No matter what one does, there is always going to be at least one obstacle, and-despite the scale-they must be surpassed. Examples of perseverance are easy to see, including-but not limited to-applying for many jobs even after constant rejection, working out for an hour each day to lose weight, or even making
When I was in early in middle school I used to be a very bad and disrespectful kid, I drove out people from my life and did a lot of things that my parents were unhappy about, things I would
My mom would always emphasis to us that “cleanliness is Godliness” and we would clean our house till we could practically eat off our white ceramic floors. Beds also had to spread every day, which as a child I truly did not understand with my logic of it being why spread it if I am just going to be sprawled out in it a couple hours later. But, unfortunately for me it was still a daily task that had to be done. A jamaican traditional we upheld in our household is having a home cooked family meal every Sunday where we are all gathered around our dining room table. The aroma of her cooking would consume the house and cause my mouth to water every time.
Many individuals in the world face challenges in their formative years and struggle with many roadblocks. Some of those struggles often change and define our lives and eventually alter how we approach life itself. There are many success factors that one must consider in order to start moving forward in life though there are both individual and sociocultural factors that limit how successful one can be. Individual and sociocultural factors have been proven critical to the achievement of the best life possible for any given person. By altering and having, a one-sided view within these success factors one can assume that many roadblocks will appear in a person’s quest for reaching their inherent potentials.
