Life is a struggle and sometimes, it’s difficult to get over a problem. Everyone has their hard time, so do I. I have been experiencing many failures, betrayals and fell down many times. However, I still manage to get up and go on. There’s one memory that has a huge impact on my thinking. It doesn’t last long, but surely a challenge for me. It’s when I lost myself and my goals... Yes, I used to lose myself, but luckily, I could get rid of it in time. It happened about four months ago, when I was in the midterm of the first semester. As a student, it’s not easy to balance between play and study. To say the truth, I’m not a hard-working person and only care about entertainment, money and appearances. A few years before, when I was still in sencondary, I have been suffering from massive of pain, both in mental and physical ( Fights, Arguments, Cussing, Betrayals, Tricks, etc.) But none of them could make me lose myself. Until on October, I have a big argument with my best friend and realized that she has been stabbed my back and used me for a long time. Right when I moved to m...
On top of that, I learned a valuable lesson from the failure and the loss as well. From that day forth, the past experiences transformed me to be a hard-working and responsible person. Furthermore, I acknowledged that when something bad happens, it can prepare us for the future obstacles, so let always be optimistic and never give up on trying.
Every so often we come face to face with life events that have lasting effects. When faced with
Everyone has a role model or someone that they look up to who influences them. “No matter how many losses you take, get back up and face your fears over and over because after a while you’ll start to realize that they were never holding you back at all.” In this quote by Mark Fischbach, whom is more commonly known as Markiplier, a popular video game “let’s player” and commentator, he supports the theme of never giving up on yourself or your dreams because of temporary roadblocks. This quote is only one of many from popular YouTube funnyman that are immensely inspirational for his fans old and young alike. Myself being one of those fans. Markiplier has influenced me in many ways throughout the years that I’ve been subscribed to him, but my main focus for this essay will be most importantly that he taught me (and many others) to take chances, believe in myself, and to not ever give up no matter how hopeless a situation may seem.
Going through life means experiencing great happiness but also great loss. Every loss we face may hurt and cause us grief, but we must let life take its course and endure the pain, for we cannot know true happiness without knowing true sorrow. Kahlil Gibran’s “The Prophet” discusses the hardships that come with pain and loss and gives insight about how a person can overcome that pain. Even the pain might hurt a great deal right now, the wound will only heal if we allow ourselves to feel that pain. As famous poet Lao Tsu once said, “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
...im has come unstuck in time it ends like this poo-tee-weet” (Vonnegut 28). One Art’s motif describes that even if we do not care about the loss we will always have some memory of it. “The art of losing’s not too hard to master though it may look like disaster” (Bishop). The reader knows that trying to forget about the past can be difficult no matter how hard they try the memories that are unimportant always seem to stay. Memory is a great gift but sometimes it can cause bad memories and pain, the quotes from Kurt Vonnegut, and Elizabeth Bishop are related to it. Each quotes talks about how painful memories can be and how they have affected their lives and others so far.
The sound of my alarm buzzed while I struggled to get out of bed. I wiped my eyes and got out of bed. My mind was packed with thoughts and emotions. That day was a very special day for me. I had prepared for that day for months if not years. Just thinking about it, made me nervous. It was tryout day for the high school golf team. Even though I was on varsity since freshman year, I was still nervous because there was always the possibility that you can get booted if your performance is sub-par. After staring at the wall for a solid minute, I shook myself out of the trance I was in and continued with my routine. Minutes passed, and I was ready to go to school. I loaded my car up with my clubs and started for school. I had a hard time keeping
Overcoming Obstacles Throughout a persons life, they are faced with different obstacles, and different challenges of all different types. My life in particular has been full of ups and downs, especially towards my soccer career. In the novel The Pact, three boys, George, Rameck, and Sam, are faced with many obstacles throughout their lives, where they must learn to overcome and achieve great success on their own will power. Essentially, I did the same thing. My soccer career has been one of my most difficult life challenges, creating the person I am today.
a personal recollection; rather, it is an effort to offer hope and healing – a healing
At the young age of ten, I was faced with a situation that has had one of the largest influences in who I am today. My parents’ divorce has and still currently plays a role in my life that has affected my drive for motivation bringing diverse perspectives. At such a young age, I was filled with such remorse, discouragement, and fear. My educational abilities were collapsing, along with some of my common social activities. I was absent-minded due to my adolescent understanding and confusion of the situation. I became emotionally depleted coming eye to eye with what I was promised would never happen. My personal connections with my family gradually became diminished, from what I kept so valuable. I was placed in a situation that tore apart my contentment, arrogance, and self motivation. It wasn’t until years later, I took my position as a chance to transform my bleakness into a strong desire for greatness.
Winston Churchill said, “All men make mistakes, but only wise men learn from their mistakes.” While I have learned from my mistakes in the past, all the experiences that I have endured have made me into the person I am today. Even being a work-in-progress, I have a solid foundation, strong internal support and blueprints of the person I will become. And the day I become a complete multi-colored sculptor of experiences and hard work, I will have helped and inspired others to do the same.
Our lives are infused with pain and suffering. Some people experience more of these regrettable symptoms of the human condition than others. Yet, we can overcome hardship with hope. Hope provides us with strength to conquer misery and despair, caused by misfortune, perhaps an unforeseen job loss when on a Friday afternoon, after you’ve worked long hours on a project, your boss, calling your into his office, sitting you down, saying, “Your fired.”
Everyone must face failure sometime or another throughout their life. However, with failure always comes an important lesson learned. There have been many occasions where I have failed, and what I have learned is that you just need to get right back up and try again. There was one time in particular where I was absolutely terrified from one of my failures – and it had a major effect on me. This specific failure involved me driving home from camp with a friend one day.
In my life I had multiple struggles, but I always had a problem focusing. This all started when I was around 8 years old. It was a sunny day around May in a class full of 30 different kids watching Bill Nye the Science Guy. As I was watching the video I kept getting distracted. Everything was getting boring I kept spacing out.
“You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only option you have left.” Bob Marley. I never knew that on April, 27th 2011 strength would end up being my only option. In the year leading up to the worst and best day, which I wouldn’t find out until years later, of my life things had taken a drastic turn for imminent destruction. Back in 2009, I began a relationship which came with more consequences than rewards. At that time the woman I was involved with was seriously addicted to heroin and little did I know I would become too. Things got very tough for me but went I got through it I look back now and realize that things happen for a reason, and apparently I had a lesson to learn. They say it’s always darkest before the
