How to Be an Outstanding Student
There are many rules to being an outstanding student. It all comes from the effort and understanding of the student in the course or class. The student does not have to have a specific talent or such to be able to achieve this level. He or she should remember that practice makes perfect and that the first try is not always the best. In order to be an outstanding student, he or she must turn in their work on time, follow directions correctly, and always puts their time and effort in their work.
The first rule to become an outstanding student is to turn in their work on time. When the student turns in their work on time, he or she makes it more possible to not lose any points and to ensure that they will get all points accordingly. If the work is turned in late, the teacher or instructor will most likely either not accept the work or deduct points as a result of being turned in late. Also, turning in the work early or on time allows the teacher to grade the work in a timely manner. If a student does not turn in the work on time, the grading will be delayed and may cause a lot of other unintended things. Turning in work on time is the first rule for being an outstanding student.

If the student does not follow directions, then he or she will most likely do something incorrectly. He or she might also have some misunderstandings in the future because of the lack of following directions. For example, if the teacher or instructor has written down how to do a science experiment and the student does not follow it correctly, then the results will come out wrong and will affect the student in the future by his or her understanding and grade of the work accomplished. Attending class without being late is the first action of success. When a student misses a class, they can miss a lot. Firstly, they won’t know what was covered in class and will miss any notes the class wrote down. Secondly, there’s a good chance the student could have missed a test or a quiz, which can be a little difficult to make up if allowed. Thirdly, if the student arrives late they create a distraction to the rest of the class. It’s very rude to do this to their fellow classmates and especially to the instructor. The student should also always bring in their required materials to class such as textbooks, pens or pencils, paper, and their homework. Submitting their classwork and/or homework on time and paying attention in class is a very important factor of success. Junior Year, hmm, how do I feel about good ol’ Junior year? Lets just say Junior year was full of rumors, and people who just don’t have anything better to do but make you feel like well, crap. Don’t forget a ton of rat faced drama queens flaunting the brand new car daddy bought them hoping to cause a scene. But there was a bright side to all of it, i had a few really great friends. Also a bunch of amazing, understanding teachers this year. I never thought you would actually learn something that would truly stay on your mind for the rest of your life. But I did, to be honest I believe I learned one thing from almost all of them. Maybe I’ll fill you in.
Coming into my senior year I was very anxious and ready to get it over with. Everyone kept telling me that it was going to be the easiest year of high school, but I completely disagree. I would not say it was my hardest, but most definitely not the easiest, I did enjoy it though. It was very fun during the whole year, but once it came down to the last three or two months I began to give up. I was so ready for it to be over, and the more anxious I was the slower it seemed to get here. Unfortunately, I missed the main things that really mattered this year, like my cap and gown fitting, my last year book picture; all because I did not want to come to school this year. Some people are not thankful for what they have, but I am because I realize how blessed and lucky I am because some kids don't have as many things to be thankful about. One thing I am thankful for is my family, my family is the most supportive and loving family ever. Another thing I am thankful for is technology, technology can be the most entertaining thing and sometimes it takes your emotions and pains away. Finally I am thankful for is sports because most of the time I go outside after school and play basketball with my friends or sometimes by myself, but sometimes it helps me get my mind off of things.

I have achieved my high grades before by always attending the class. I pay attention and write notes so that I could review it afterwards. And if I don’t have the notes, I will review from the slides that we have discuss. By that, it also helps me in doing my assignments. Before I do the assignment, the first thing I do is to read and understand the guidelines. Then I always try to answer the merit and distinction part even though it is difficult. There are many different types of students. All students have their own way of studying and learning material. A student’s attitude is the most determining factor in how well a student performs academically. Some students are eager to learn and try their best; however, some students could care less about learning. Each year students decide whether they will succeed or fail in school. All students fall into one category or another. Students can be classified into three categories: Overachievers, Average Joes, and Do Not Give a Rips.
I also need to make sure I do my homework, go to my professors and tutors when I need help with my classes, and make sure that my goals will challenge me yet are also attainable. If I can do all those things then I should be able to reach my goals, do everything on time and of good quality for my classes and then I should be able to be a successful student. Coming up in high school I was an intelligent and capable student but I never used to apply myself to my work. I would slack off during the term and do little or no work, as this only counted for 30% of my final grade. I would not attend class and I wouldn't do most of the homework assignments in the classes that I did go to. When finals came around, I would put in a few weeks of really hard studying, as this was worth the remaining 70% of your grade, and end up with about an 80% or 75%, which in some cases would get me and A in the class.
