Title: Standardized testing Specific Purpose: To show the audience that constant standardized tests are harmful to students education. Thesis Statement: Standardized tests are more detrimental to students education then they are helpful. INTRODUCTION I) In the states of New Jersey students take a multitude of standardized tests: the SAT, the ACT, the PSAT. and the PARCC.
II) Standardized tests are more detrimental to students education then they are helpful.
III) Furthermore, standardized testing: takes away from valuable class time, causes stress, and improves a student's test taking ability opposed to testing the student's ability to utilize the tested skill in real life situations.

Government tests are intimidating, which leads to over studying and stressing over a pointless test.
In addition, students are not always adequately prepared for these tests.
Moreover, by giving students daunting state mandated tests they are intimidated and begin to stress. In addition, lack of preparation further stresses the student. Stressing over a standardized test only affects the student and not the state administering the test.
